Diablo 3 Beta [Beta withdrawal underway!]

I've wanted a taste of Diablo 3 so bad, i've been playing playing Diablo 2 and Diablo 1 for god sake.

This is seriously retarded though, if the game is out in less then 2 months now, what the hell is the harm in getting the beta into as many hands as possible... It would do more good then harm mainly to see if their servers for the game can handle a real number of players

Speaking of never getting into betas lol, why did I even think I had a chance with Guild Wars 2......

A quick question that I was wondering about. I know they did this for WoW, but I don't know if they will do this for D3. Are they going to wait for PST instead of EST to allow people to play the game? I remember I had to wait 3 in the morning to play WoW, and was wondering if they would do the same thing for D3.

Still so far away argh. So tempted to buy+play LOD again

Got in, thank Jebus. Not impressed with the performance at the moment. I can run Crysis 2 in 720p maxed and get over 40 FPS, Mass Effect 3 in 1080 decently and also Dungeon Siege III maxed out in 1080 without a breeze and yet for some reason this is chugging in 1080 with a Phenom X4, 4GBs of RAM and a 1GB 4670. Hope they keep optimizing.

I'm not in the beta personally but I recall seeing someone post that a recent update screwed up performance so maybe there is that.

Ah, I finally got in. And it runs atrociously. It's unplayable, jumps between 60fps to 0-5fps, I even died because of that...

So there is no fix for this? It's a widespread thing?

Known issues confirmed by Blizzard. Mac users seeing the worst of it. I would recommend playing in windowed mode and seeing where that takes you. Helped me out a lot when I was at an unplayable status.

Battletag: constantine9#1735

add me for the GAF list. Currently seems the servers are down again and my framerate is all over the damn place. From 55 back down to 12. Jesus this is horrible.

Ugh. Massive, massive lag when I start a battle. Died twice because of it.

That aside, does anyone know how to change the resolution in windowed mode?

I have been in the beta for months (EU) and I am not dropping a penny on this until I see it running smoothly after retail in the EU on EU servers.

The lag, rubber banding and shitty framrates are god awfull and "known issue" doesn't mean shit to Blizzard, 5 years of WoW tells me that.

I thought this framerate issue was new with the latest patch. So you're saying it's been like this all through the beta? That's not good. :/

Yes, there was and still is from what i heard [i havent turn on beta in ages] strange streaming bug and physics bug that cause massive framerate drops and constant hiccups.
You can even see framerate drops on last official Blizzard video.

I didin't have framerate issues before the latest patch and I play it on a rather old desktop with everything maxed and in 1080p.

Or You just dont notice them. I saw framerate problems on every video i've watched.

Oh you can bet I notice them. The game clearly tears and the framerate is not perfectly smooth by any means. But only after the latest patch I've encountered consistent warping, big framerate fluctuation and lag.

The frame-rate/streaming issue is still there in the current beta version, it's definitely a network latency issue and will obviously depend on the server and your individual network usage. The server end will probably be "fixed" by release or post-release.

It does seem to be network rather than the engine, but since we are reliant on being online all the time I would hope they can at least get it smooth and playable. My Broadband is pretty rapid, played WoW at raiding level for years.

As I said, I expect the US will be fine on release, but having experienced Blizzards "prioritising" before now I want to see how they handle the EU release, they have the data-centres here of course...

Playing through Titan Quest again, and as good as that game is, I think I'm ready to move on. Can't wait to finally play D3. I wish I was in the beta, but damn, I've (we've) waited so long for this game, another month or two won't hurt.

Aww, Beta runs horribly on my 2009 Macbook Pro (9400m) on the OS X end. In Bootcamp'd Windows 7, it's quite playable. I hate having to switch over, but I guess I'll have to.

get the beta and played alle classes and it was super ... boring? I'm really surprised about this fact.
I have played thousands of hours Diablo 2 and Diablo3 is not fun for me :(

There is a 5 page thread on the beta forum, the OSX performance is another "known issue", which means they may fix it or they may not.

As ever, best to play safe and wait for first impressions before you buy.

Why do you hate switching? It takes like no effort.

Because sometimes I want to play in-between work sessions. But the programs I use for school/work are OS X exclusive (Final Cut Pro, Final Draft etc.). Having to reboot to another OS for a small gaming session is inconvenient.

Has to be a glitch with the site currently. No way they are reducing gems to only having use for helms and weapons, especially when they have expanded the items that can have sockets for leggings and belts, etc. Also shields being absent as well further leans towards site glitch.

My guess is they are finally in the process of updating item stats.
