When I try to connect to the mumble client I get an error saying the remote host closed the connection?

First time using mumble, is that because its full?

I am posting in OT2!

2 more hours of work then crappy drive home in the rain through slow construction zone. Baaalllllsss.

I didn't really hit my stride with Monk until I found a rare daibo staff and unlocked some more skills and runes. I'm loving it now. The only thing keeping me away from the game long enough to post at this moment is Bnet's server downage, heh.

Is there some kind of issue with achievements? I have a few that I should have but it didn't count. SK kill for one.

Lots of people complaining about missing achievements. Ones they either should have, or did have and lost. Everything is a cluster fuck right now, so I wouldn't be surprised if achievements take a while to fix.

this is why the world isnt ready for digital only and always online, we have been saying this for ages, i just dont see the problem how hard can it be for them to have an option to play offline and if you do you cannot tranfer or do anything in auction house, its a simple request and not hard, blizz are just retards for every launch

Hey do you guys have any performance issues?
I know my PC can run this game flawlessly at 1080p and most of the time it does; but sometimes the frames drop to around 40 and I don't know why. I'm using D3DOverrider and Vsync off. All settings high.

Specs:
Core i5 2500K OC
ATI HD6870 1GB
4GB DDR3 1600 Mhz

I kind of expected some downtime. But what bothers me is remembering seeing Bashiok the Blizzard CM crowing about how D3's beta was "a real beta gathering real information, and not some glorified demo like other companies have".

What a fucking dick.

from trolling the end of the last thread and this one it seems Monk might be most popular so far. Barbarian high also.

then DH and WD.

I've only seen a few people mentioning wizard. I wonder if that is because of the stress test beta. I felt like wizard was really weak early on compared to some of the others

Well that sucks, makes sense it will take a back seat to other issues though.

So I have a Razer Naga (the 12 button one) what configuration are you guys using?

It's not like there's tons of keybinds to worry about. I'm thinking of binding right mouse to 'stand still and attack', and all my skills/inventory/potion buttons to the side buttons for true one handed D3.

5 hours in, still in Act 1
I woke up after a short nap and I was planning on playing for a few more hours and then writing another update but there was some non-spoiler stuff that I thought those of you who are working or don't otherwise have the game might like to hear. I am playing as a Level 12 Witch Doctor.

  • To start off, I still have yet to find something negative about the game. This is, obviously, entirely subjective but, as someone who played Diablo 1 and 2, Torchlight and Titan Quest a lot, this is pretty surprising to me. As far as I am concerned, Blizzard has made this as pain-free and fun of a loot game as is possible.
  • The interface just works. The default hot-keys work great, the windows don't get in the way and it's as customizable as I could want.
  • I like that the game makes a differentiation between Events and Quests. Quests are bigger task that drive the story forward and Events are smaller tasks that you might find while wandering around the fields. They are, so far, much more localized to a particular area than Quests which might take you through multiple areas of the game. This makes the interface less cluttered since Events are much shorter in length than Quests and don't clutter up your journal for nearly as long.
  • I'm really digging the teleporters at the end of dungeons that transport you back to the entrance of the dungeon. That really cuts short on backtracking and it's a nice touch, especially compared to Diablo 2 or Titan Quest.
  • I love how the game re-randomizes already traversed maps, and adds in new dungeons. At this point, I will say the name of the area of the game immediately after the beta area. I will put it in spoiler quotes along with the names of some of the dungeons that I found in it. I will also mention one of the Events that I found in a dungeon, again in spoilers. If you don't want to know, please do not highlight the spoilers :) I will not, in any way, spoil the story.
    The Fields of Misery
are the area immediately after the content in the beta and, after I killed
    King Leoric
, I headed over there and explored it thoroughly while looking for the
    Kharza Den
. I fully explored the area and then logged out to get some sleep. When I came back, the whole of the area was under the Fog of War again so I set about exploring it. In the course of doing so, I found 2 new dungeons and 1 new Event with the
    Miner merchant from town
that I had never seen before! This really made the game feel even more fresh and I really like that.
  • The path-finding for followers, quest-specific followers and summoned minions is really, really good. A lot of times in Diablo 2 my hirelings would get stuck and, if there were a lot of narrow corridors (in the desert dungeons of the Lut Gholein area, for example) the teleport function would often put them somewhere useless to me. That has yet to happen. I have had, at most, 3 Zombie Dogs, my Templar follower and 1 Quest specific follower all following me with zero problems. It's pretty damn awesome.
  • In overall tone, it definitely feels less lonely than the original. The hirelings in Diablo 2 were mute, as was your character generally, but here they have a surprising amount of banter and a lot of it is unique. I've only had one instance of repeating banter in about 3 hours of play, so I have no issues with it. There was one piece that was actually pretty hilarious and it was between my Templar companion and
    Leah
who was a Quest companion. It goes like this:
"Templar, I think I saw you at an inn several months ago."
"Ah, that is likely. I have journeyed a long way."
"You were extremely polite, but tipped poorly, I am told."
". . . We should pick up the pace."

This game is really, really polished and I'm having a lot of fun. Now the 1.5 hour wait until the servers come back up from maintenance. At least I'll have time for lunch :D

Is the Monk ok?

I want to make one, for old time's sake. First time I played Diablo was with the Monk on the first's expansion. :)

the beta proved that all the classes are kickass. i started a barb and decided to roll that at retail.. until I tried monk.. then a playthrough of witchdoctor. im sure wizard and demon hunter are just as good.

PROBLEM NOT YET FIXED

When I boot up the game I get the following message : Input not supported (floating message). Usually this is about the resolution of the screen. But in this case it doesn't matter because it gives me this message with every possible resolution.

Every single game works on my monitor (Bulletstorm/Rage/Mass Effect 3/Risen etc.), but this one doesn't. (windows 7 64 bit with 6670 HD)

To prove it's a problem with D3 and my monitor : It works on the Samsung TV that is also connected to my computer.

What. the. hell. is going on.

I get dips with a 560ti, it was really stuttery when I began but it smoothed out over time.

Also, I don't normally care about it but this game demands vsync, it's a jerky mess otherwise.

Francis is awesome
