Did you camp at a store with random strangers to get your Switch 2?

Did you?

I have personally lived the night of a hobo for the Xbox 360 and the Wii, both at dead stores like Toys R Us and Circuit City. As an old geezer now, I don't have the energy or the patience for that. I know that if I can't have it delivered to me as a king, I will just wait.

So who camped?

Store opened at 8am EST but the mall opened at 7. I got there at 6:45 and I was the 7th person in line. Before me there were 2 guys without a preorder and the store had 20-30 extra for walk-ins so they were good but they had filled their 150 units preorder allocations. By the time the store opened we were about 50.

I logged onto Nintendo's website weeks after they sent out emails to people who weren't me. Then they delivered it to Royal mail at 00.09 this morning and me after 9am.

I feel sorry for people who struggled or sat refreshing as it was as easy as getting a bag of potatoes.

I looked at in store stock at Target, every store in my area was showing "in stock." I walked in around 8:30, walked out around 8:45. Couldn't have been easier.

I would be extremely shocked if they had any after last night.

I would assume anyone who wanted one without a Pre-Order would need to camp out
I had to go to the grocery this morning and it's right by a Target and Target had 5 of them so I grabbed a second one as a surprise for my girlfriend.

I looked online though and GameStop wasn't showing much so I'm sure most GameStop's are sold out but places like Target are worth looking.

Going by the number of scalped pricing, this thing isn't hard to find and as popular as previous consoles. I remember when the Wii came out some 15+ years ago, even then the scalping prices were double the price! Now it's like these guys are barely making enough for a can of beans.

Good. Scalpers are scum.

I am shocked not a single local Target it sold out

Also it's good they are instore pickup only, helps with scalpers.

Also, also, its nice to see a supply available on day one.

I am too old to get caught up in launch day hype. by the time its readily available in stores is when enough games will be out fr the system so I can wait.

Camp? Nah. I did line up about an hour before the "midnight" (11 PM for me) launch at Best Buy to pick up my pre-order though....at which point I proceeded to go home and straight to bed. I really only did it for the nostalgia; I'm getting old, and I'm guessing I don't have many console launches left in me.

Lol.. why?

Apparently there is plenty of stock...

I feel like there is no hype for Switch 2. My kids havent even asked about it.

There is no hype because the system isn't worth it so far. And there are no interesting games to play on it.

Went to target at 4:00 AM... There were already 4 guys lined up with chairs and blankets. Ok, I am good with #5 so I got in line. Turns out the 4 kids in front of me were there for a restock of Pokemon cards not the switch; so I was #1. My friend called me from a nearby target that opened an hour earlier so I just went over there bout 5AM and was 3rd in line.

To my understanding Target did not do pre-orders so each store had about 100 units in stock. It seemed to be the case where I was at, and they had about 100 to sell. When they handed tickets out half hour before opening there were about 22 people. By the time they opened I am guessing at most 40-50 people. So they still had some in stock.

Edit: There are three other Targets within a 5 mile radius of the Target I was at which aren't as popular, so I think there is plenty of stock right now.

Seems like it's not terribly hard to find and $450-$500 is a tough ask for many folks in these economic times(imo) when I(personally) dont find as much interesting at launch.

Good that they are readily available. Scalpers in shambles.

I was there last night. fucking gameplanet took 3 hours to give me mine, I had a preorder but people that wanted one without a preorder could walk in at the same time as those who had a preorder and get one, that sucked!! I got mine at 3:00 am and then took an uber home after being standing up 3.5 hours i was so tired I went straight to bed, now i am playing Zelda breath of the wild with the updated graphics, let's see, I tried a little mario Kart world. Unimpressed really.
