When I had the most fun with a 2d game this year that could be run on practically every computer out there then yes, fun games are ultimately what matters to some folks. Sometimes I enjoy top of the line graphics in games as well but if the game is boring then no amount of pretty graphics is going to interest me. This is coming from someone with a high end pc as well. Its funny though a lot of people with high end pcs joke about how they spend most of their time playing games with simple graphics and therefore aren't getting the most out of their computers.

Ok I knew all along this would not be massively powered compared to today's gen! BUT I was told it would be super cheap which is what nintendo wants. Plus look soon for early adopter incentives!

There's a big middle ground though. Considering it uses an X1 expecting somewhere closer to 250/600 Gflops would not have been outlandish(thats about what I expected) and they undershot that quite a bit.
I imagine a more powerful machine has a lot more to do than just being capable of putting in more pixels, doesn't it?

Portable mode is about what I was expecting. I thought they'd clock it higher in docked mode though.
Maybe, maybe not but this is what many are focusing on....
And I wont lie and say I dont blame ppl for being disappointed.
I mean look at the Wii U and 3DS. Had alot of impressive looking games on both. Had some win GOTY awards.
Specs of both werent anything to brag about.
So a weak Nintendo console having impressive looking games is nothing new.
But was it 1st party or 3rd party games they were talking about? Or some of the now cautiously optimistic multi platform game(s).

Of course they do but that still doesn't change the fact that more advanced technology =/= better games. Remember how devs hyped up the new ps4/x1 with experiences that can't be had on the ps3/x360 thanks to new tech? Everything still follows the same formulas but hey at least everything looks prettier! And I'm not trying to downplay graphics because I do enjoy my graphically intense games.
You must hate the new upcoming Zelda game then.

Switch games will be likely as powerful as Xbox One.
Since it has to only render less pixels at 720 (or lower depending on devs) and maybe reduce some settings slightly more on top the hardware can handle current-gen games.
With the low level API and the architectural improvements and tools available for easier porting to Switch no need to worry

That's talk more about that. What features could they add? I originally though that Pascel is Maxwell & 16nm.
Owning a Shield Tablet made me even more positive about the Switch, only to be let down again.
It will be funny in a sad way if/when Nvidia announce the new Shield and make a point about How it's better than Switch though.

in portable mode. gpu wise its a bit faster than an iphone 6s. cpu wise its well behind.
this assumes its a 4 core a57 at 1 ghz. i think this the current cpu expectation? if im wrong someone correct me

They won't draw any direct comparisons to the Switch. Nintendo will likely never talk specs publicly. The new Shield device is an Android TV Set Top Box. Gaming isn't even it's primary feature, unless you're taking about game streaming from your PC or GeForce Now.

The Wii U was a home console though. This is a handheld. Did the 3DS start a new console generation? No, because we've always viewed handhelds as their own thing (with Nintendo as the only major player, although Sony made a decent effort at getting a piece of that action). And although the Switch has a docked TV-out mode, it really cannot be counted among the home consoles. It's a dockable handheld, and if it's the start of any generation it's the next generation of handhelds following the 3DS.
