Don't forget this is Nvidia Flops.

So... you'll believe some things but not others? From the same article?
Do we have a reliable estimates on with actual battery life is going to be? I'm just asking I don't now?So? As a business you need to provide value to consumers. An underpowered tablet with chap battery life for $250 doesn't do that.

Also we shouldn't forget that it is NOT a stock Maxwell chip, it's customized, it could still enjoy from Pascal features.Cheaper to manufacture due to that the equipment for the process are readily available, hence higher profit margins for nvidia and cheaper price for Nintendo.
What are you talking about? They definitely stated the clock speeds but the idea of absorbing Pascal features was speculative.

There's an easy 4M units in one country regardless of chipset and frequencies.

I'm still trying to figure out who is going to buy this apart from die hard Nintendo fans.
The architecture advantages will definitely make it punch "well above its weight" but its weight class is so low that it can't even come close to making up the gap. You may see ports of less intensive games but that's about it. If it sells well enough those may continue throughout its lifespan.
i'm just gonna think of it as a successor the 3DS that can output to a TV and has detachable controllers. i think too many people expect a successor to the Wii U that is on the level of performance as a PS4 that could be used also as a handheld.
it is so low spec because it is a handheld primarily so should be closer to the price of a 3DS than what a PS4/XB1 cost at launch and it needs to have good cooling/battery life. the rumours are that here in the UK it will cost £200 (a retailer is already taking preorders at that price) with the premium SKU being £250. cheapest I can find a new "new nintendo 3ds" is £180 from Nintendo on their UK store. at launch a PS4 on it's own cost £350.
if nintendo are indeed merging both the 3DS/Wii U platforms then the Switch should amass a pretty good library.
I see. If so the very chip may be price pretty low..Best way to marry the idea of a fan in this thing, with these clocks right now.

It's helpful when comparing to the Wii U at least.
Giving that UK price, I believe it's safe to say it will cost 250USD? I believe that, with this in mind there's no chance it wll cost 199. But 249 is still very reasonable.
Value is something relative.
Google's pixel C tablet embedded with the tegra X1, sells for £379.99 in the UK, which is the same rumoured soc inside the switch but with higher clocks. Hence, if the switch sells for £199 then it is a good deal. and i think google's products are more fairly priced compared to the competition.

I still despite it being confirmed cant believe that Nintendo sold the Wii U at a loss, 2006 tech in 2011.....really? with a price point of 350 dollars with a measly 32GB storage capacity! If the tablet was honestly that expensive then it actually blows my mind how Nintendo could have possible though it would be a good idea try and sell it or how it ever got past the concept stages especially with that horrendous battery life.
But Googles profit comes from selling hardware while Nintendo makes money from the game sales.

In the year 2016, do Android tablet apps still suck? To answer this, I installed the top 200 apps on the Pixel C and gave them all a quick test drive. I looked at apps onlynot gamesusing this "Top Apps only" Play Store list. The idea is that games scale just fine on tablets; it's apps that are the challenge.
Of the top 200 apps:
Nineteen were not compatible with the Pixel C
Sixty-nine did not support landscape at all
Eighty-four were stretched-out phone apps
Twenty-eight were, by my judgment, actual "tablet" apps

Current rumor is 5-8 hours.
i just updated that post. yeah once you remove the 20% VAT it gives you £160/200 which converts to $197/247.
There's no VAT-similar taxes in US?
i have no idea what the taxes are in the US. i think they vary between states and therefore the price is often advertised without any tax.

Underpoweredtablet?
Runs breath of the wild, possibly things like skyrim and dark souls
Bad battery life? I didn't know it was January 12 yet to know that.
If it is ever just 5 hours that's good enough. And bringing USB type c means it's easy to charger anywhere
Everything but clock speeds was speculative.

Let's not jump to conclusions.

I'm basing it on the theory it's 28nm. If it is the device is both more power hungry and needs to power a fan to keep cool. That's a guaranteed battery killer.
You might be disappointed. While we may get the token Madden & CoD game for the first year (or two in the case of CoD), most of the audience for those games are elsewhere. The average Nintendo fan doesn't really give a shit about most third party games these days, & those who do already have systems that satisfy their needs. I've mentioned this numerous times in the past, & thus curbed my expectations for third party support on the Switch to just Japanese third parties, indies, & a handful of western developers (namely Ubisoft & maybe WB Games) for the long-term.I'm excited by the portability of the console, but I'm going to hold off on pre-ordering. Nintendo needs to show me that the Switch will have a healthy amount of third party titles. If it ain't running games like Madden, Call of Duty, Titanfall 2, Battlefield 1, etc. this is a no buy for me. I have a Wii U so I can still play Zelda Breath of the Wild on that. I'm not buying another Nintendo console again just to play Nintendo games.
It would be weird if the new model no follows scability and portability. Different versions from Switch is very likely to happen, but what will be interesting will be new Switchs that can play any former game from previous iterations. I like the implication on this.
As has been said repeatedly, I don't think many thought that after the hybrid model was confirmed.
People are just disappointed that the Tegra X1 is clocked lower than that in the Nvidia Shield that came out in 2015!
So the question that bother me the most , is it as powerful as the WiiU ?!!
So the question that bother me the most , is it as powerful as the WiiU ?!!
Fair enough. I'm not even sure that's a valid theory to analyse, given all existing X1s in consumer products (like Shield TV) are fabricated on 20nm.
Docked... Yes (2.5 to 3x Wii-U)
Undocked... No.
Almost at page 100...ha...ha....h
So, did lherre commented after his cryptic messaged earlier?
Shadowfox8
I got my "About 1.5x Wii U while undock" number by considering that the base of Wii U's GPU is based on the 2008 R700 series and is pre-GCN/GPGPU. I don't know the actual numbers, so someone can probably calculate what it would be. That will not be simple due to the architectural differences, but In terms of CPU/GPU technology the Switch is a huge step up from Wii U.

At the people complaining that it has to have "real value" for $250. What? You decide if it's worth it, it's all relative and personal.
I don't buy the system for the hardware, I buy the system for the games, always have always will.
Some times you have to man up and admit you are about to fuck up. This thing needs to be rebranded as their next handheld device at their reveal event. A handheld device that just so happens can plug into your tv and be played on big screen. We wouldn't be having any of the dumb overreacting right now if that was the case people would be saying Nintendo back in the power game. I really think this is the only way to properly view this device. We will see what they do.
It's not really "ancient" tech as the architecture is more recent than what is seen in the PS4/One.With the ancient slow hardware making up the Switch it needs to be $199. Nintendo might find a market at that price. Even at $250 I think it would be too expensive. These internals are going to kill third parties abilities to port to this machine, so one year of third party games like usual on a Nintendo home console.
Don't care about clock speeds, the games are all that matter.
