Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
I know this, if you followed the video carefully enough that is still Oliver who inserted PSSR case and sang his usual narrative while at it despite this fact. At 7:17 onwards, just watch the video, not making anything up.

???

Many PS5 Pro games use PSSR. He is very clearly saying that at first he thought it might be PSSR because of the difference but could not see any places where it has breakup like PSSR typically tends to (hair etc) and that John's results with the PC comparison confirms it's a basic TAA based solution. You know, doing what's essentially their job.

Simply determining whether that a PS5 Pro game is using PSSR or not based on its telltale signs is not "usual narrative".

But then again, being rational is less fun.

In the DF video, the Xbox Series S and X screens are swapped.
Furthermore, tearing is occurring on the Xbox Series S (labeled X).
Did anyone else notice how blurry the image quality of the Xbox Series X (label) looks?

Yes, the labels are definitely wrong, unless Series S is secretly much sharper than Series X.

But for the tearing point, I went through that segment a few times and didn't notice any tearing in my browser .

Made a gif to highlight.

Are you sure you're not picking up some mpeg noise like with Veilguard?

He already clarified what he was talking about:

Oh, I thought you were gonna have some insight of your own.

I already addressed his post:

Saying that he ruled out PSSR because it doesn't show the telltale PSSR breakup signs in hair etc is not a 'narrative', it's deductive reasoning.

Why are you replying to me then if you haven't followed the context of the post?

PSSR hair doesn't actually break up. Its the non-PSSR UE hair that breaks up. Those were two different points separated by an "and". His "breakup" point wasn't specified. Clearly you didn't even understand the deductive reasoning.

But I have followed the context, I just don't see any 'jab' towards PSSR in Oliver's comment. Neither yours, or the original post, have pointed one out properly.

Oliver thought it might be PSSR at first but then they realized it wasn't.

Ok, i'll give you this one. The break up and hair are two different statements.

But neither of them were a jab at PSSR.

That'd be like someone saying that just because they point out how FSR has breakup in motion that's a needless jab at FSR.

Break up was definitely a jab, especially as he didn't specify what he was referring to. The fact that you took the second positive about PSSR having improved hair over not enabling as a negative just goes to show. He could have just said I didn't notice any upscaling artifacts but clearly break up is ultimately still a jab and you don't even know what he's referring to at all still.
