Not a fan of DF or MS not mentioning it in the specs, when it clearly is. A custom/modified Jaguar? Sure. A custom x86?? Come on man.

Escorpio???SCORPIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hahah yes. We going full Scorpio today!SCORPIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SCORPIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That was miscommunication that was quickly cleared up by DF. It's 2.0. You're not going to see 2.1 on a console for a while.
SCORPIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Geez, with that attitude, you should have just moved the couch back couple more feet and let your panny upscale the 1080p PS4 output to 4K. lolzNot really....I was interested in scorpio even though I have pro, I like console gaming and IQ / performance.
But on my 55 inch living room TV 4K Panny I cant tell if its 1440p upscaled, 2160 checkerboard or 2160 native - it really is diminishing returns above 1080p unless you TV is huge or you sit uncomfortably close like at a desk,.
And my thoughts are Scorpio is a great design, If I had an XB1 I would upgrade day 1, but its not much better than a Pro as IQ will be hard to see at such high IQ anyway.
Both will be solid 30 or 60 FPS depending on game, the 10 % faster CPU is not going to get a 30 game to 60 - If it was ZEN then it would and I would switch.
A big meh from me.
I'm sure this is a great achievements in terms of what could be possible in a console. In terms of specs everyone seems pleased so that's great!
But 1.5X the speed of PS4 Pro is not going to change the tides in favour of Xbox. Especially as so few people give a shit about 4k at this point.
If PS4pro didn't change the world, why would Scorpio.
Disclaimer: Pc player, but not what you'd call an elitist. My gpu is about the level of a 1060, so weaker than Scorpio.
Because it's pointless. It's obviously not targeted at someone who prefers gaming on a high end gaming PC.
Scorpio it's RX 480 with some boost. Doubt there is a universe between the two.A big meh from me.

The DF video goes into how this is a "Jaguar Evolved" CPU. They haven't hidden the fact that it's based off Jaguar. Glad you caught them in their Big Lie though. Not a fan of DF or MS not mentioning it in the specs, when it clearly is. A custom/modified Jaguar? Sure. A custom x86?? Come on man.
The specs are great and all but as a primarily PC gamer with decent PC (1070+i7 4770) I really don't see a reason or incentive for me to buy this console over PS4 pro. Software drive Hardware sales and the competing products are offering much more, be it from Sony or Nintendo.
MS needs to invest more into games and new IP, not just hardware.
Do you guys think the system will release before fall? Like in the summer?
People tried to make these same arguments back in 2013.Not really....I was interested in scorpio even though I have pro, I like console gaming and IQ / performance.

Its not enough to consider Pro to Scorpio though, the 10 % upclock is not worth the change.

I very much doubt it. Scorpio will easily outsell Xbox One S this fall unless there are manufacturing problems that limit the number they can make or unless Scorpio costs $600.
SCORPIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I'm reading this as slightly better performance than PS4 Pro due to its GPU also being held back by the Jaguar CPU. I know they talked about DX12 built into the GPU (it's built into all modern GCN GPUs, so until I see proof otherwise that's just marketing speak.) but the fact that they admit 30fps games won't be able to move up to 60fps says a lot about CPU bottlenecks (despite their above DX12 GPU claims) considering how much more powerful the GPU is compared to XBO.

Initial console batches: power, acoustics and so on could be all over the show in the early days. If they are really going this in-depth with QC they may as well have gone for a full unlocked GPU.It's a technique that Microsoft calls the 'Hovis method', named after the engineer who developed it. Every single Scorpio Engine processor that comes off TSMC's production line will have its own specific power profile. Rather than adopt a sub-optimal one-size-fits-all strategy, Microsoft tailors the board to match the chip.
He is not far from the truth, show me a rig that can run Forza 6 full 4k60FPS with 60% GPu utilization ?
Yes solely in terms of potential GPU power.

It's Polaris like the Pro. And jaguar like the Pro. What's custom remains to be seen but I doubt it'll matter much.12GB of ram, 326gb/s bandwidth, 6TF newer architectural gpu, 2.3 custom CPU
Pro went a different route. They mostly kept the same tech of base PS4 but just doubled gpu power. It's good to run games in higher res but not much else especially with no extra ram running much higher

Big lie? No. Im just bloody annoyed, not thinking it's nothing other than PR.The DF video goes into how this is a "Jaguar Evolved" CPU. They haven't hidden the fact that it's based off Jaguar. Glad you caught them in their Big Lie though.
Let's be honest here: the whole DF site it's in full PR MS mode. There are some interesting tech aspects about Scorpio but everythings it's put in the light to show the bright side of the hardware. Not a fan of DF or MS not mentioning it in the specs, when it clearly is. I put the whole thing together, why not. Minimum size it's going to be, outlined in blue. Seems compact à la One S.

Alien technology from the Roswell crash confirmed. In all seriousness, that sure is slick looking.
They spent a whole minute explaining it's a 16nm FF Jaguar with more clock and DX12 functionality added to the silicon. Who the hell is hiding the Jaguar-ness?
No one has or will claim this as next gen. It's a mid gen refresh.Well seems like a good upgrade to XB1S and from Pro but this is not next gen good. I think that will start with PS5 with more modern architecture and newer components.
Curious to see how games run and look on it.

I just like the comparison to be more truthful. Especially when they went through the trouble of mentioning it in the vid, and the article, but why fail to mention it in the comparison chart?
I wish DF would stop lying through their teeth already and give us the real, unbiased facts.Let's be honest here: the whole DF site it's in full PR MS mode. There are some interesting tech aspects about Scorpio but everythings it's put in the light to show the bright side of the hardware.
Well yeah. Games like Witcher 3 that is basically a PC game multiplat to consoles, you will get huge CPU bottleneck. That's why they have PC version for.Its what I see, most 4K looks great but there is not that much difference, if a game offers me 1080p60 or 4K30 I would always choose the high frame rate.
The problem is both my current Pro and the new Scorpio alternative are they have shit CPU's and will forever be 30 FPS consoles on games like Witcher 3.
Its not an issue SCorio being a slightly better PRO, but I want a console that can do game like Bloodbourne or Witcher at 1080p60, and that needs an I5 class CPU IMO...
That's a good point as the ISA isn't changed so really DF should have listed the same as Xbox one.Not a fan of DF or MS not mentioning it in the specs, when it clearly is. A custom/modified Jaguar? Sure. A custom x86?? Come on man.
