So, question about the last strech of Beast's quest in aAct 4:
is it normal I let Justinia walk, but she just wandered into some deathfog and died?

Wow! Nice one! I've found 2x20%crit crossbows, but nothing nearly as powerful like that :p (still five levels behind you though) I was considering respeccing my 2h-"tank"/warfare into Rogue. Maybe I should just go with a second ranger? I think I might try that actually, even if rangers aren't a blast to play (never tried rogue and heard they're very fun to play, although not nearly as strong)

Aye, I clearly see it in your screenshot, but I don't have the recipe in my game (yet). Also thank you for the info about where the item should show up with Autosort. Sadly it doesn't, so I must have lost it somehow. Ah, I'll manage, can't be arsed to reload 20 hours of Act 2 for redoing "Kiss of Death". Again, thanks for your time and clarification though!

edit: What does "+x% Cleave damage" on 2h-weapons do? Maybe I'm stupid or missing something but I've never found a skill called Cleave.

Rogue is fun to play. I'm a bit OP right now though, but if I ever struggle against a boss or anyhting, I'll respec my rogue into a ranger though, because I think I would double or tripple my damage output quite easily.

Did you check the inventory of your companions?

I did that quest without Beast, but
she probably shouldn't die. I also had deathfog around where she would walk, but I removed it with the aerothurge spell Whirlwind. Whirlwind also removes Necrofire and other cursed areas.

Indead, redid it, and this time she avoided it. WTF with the pathfinding Larian?
Do you know where she's supposed to be afterwards? Just to be sure she didn't die somewhere else.

Cleave in other rpgs is aoe penetrating damage. Basically some hard hitting skills meant to hit one guy are actually hitting multiple targets on a wide cone. Could be the exact same thing here if you manage to have multiple enemies lined up. Try a whirlwind on multiple targets and see if you deal more damage, then try again with a single target ability

Thanks! It works just like you described it in this game as well. Basically a small arc in front of you. So if you face two enemies right next to each other, the one you're not targeting will suffer the cleave damage.

I could only get it to work with single target abilities so far, but I'm gonna try Whirlwind out as per your suggestion! (I have +50% cleave damage on my current two-hander, so that's neat I guess. Would be nice if it worked of attacks of opportunities, we'll see!)

edit: Sorry for all the questions, here's another one. (Spoiler question about Source and the main quest in late Act 2)
So I helped Hannag by rescuing her apprentice.
I asked for source and she gave me an additional source point.

What I wonder though is this: She said something about me being able to draw source from animals. I couldn't find a new skill in my skillbook.
I completed Hannag's quest and got the third source point before getting Source Vampirism. Did I screw up, or am I okay? I didn't miss out on this "animal-source-leeching-thing Hannag spoke of?
Thanks in advance guys, and again, sorry if I'm asking stupid questions.

Nah, I haven't seen her since. I haven't really progressed since finishing that quest. I just thought she'd disappear and never see her again.

Does each Origin class have anything resembling a default class or have Larian created their personalities without attaching it to a certain profession.

These are their cannon classes, but you should shape them to your needs:

Red Prince: Fighter - Warfare, Geomancer
Lohse: Enchanter - Hydrosophist, Aerotheurge
Ifan: Wayfarer - Huntsman, Geomancer
Sebille: Rogue - Scoundrel
Fane: Wizard - Geomancer, Pyrokinetic
Beast: Battlemage - Aerotheurge, Warfare

They all come with a default class but you can make them into whatever you want.

Hey thanks for your answer yet again! I might give Rogue a shot, just to play around with the scoundrel skills (Mainly chicken + rupture tendons) Sounds weak though if ranger does 2-3 times the damage. The character in question I wanted to respec is a warrior. At lvl 15 my base damage with a two-hander is 300-310, while my Ranger's is 350-365 (along with a 61% crit chance, vs the Warriors 29%). Both characters weapons have the same Ilvl, and comparable strenght/finesse.

Maybe a stupid question, but the warfare skills Battle Stomp/Battering Ram works with any melee weapon, right? This means I could keep the utility of the knockbacks if I decide to respecc to Rogue.

Furthermore, Arran in the Undertavern has blessed me with 3 +20% crit crossbows now. Never seen that high of a crit stat on a dagger or any other type of weapon (except a bow, at the very same vendor) Crit would be ideal for the warrior since points in 2-hander increases crit multiplier, but alas I've had no such luck.
Did you check the inventory of your companions?
Yeah I finally found the Idol, it was in the middle of my inventory on Sebille! And I googled on how to charge it, so now I have the recipe! Really happy I managed to find and keep my idol! Would probably never have found it without you telling me that I probably needed to charge it.

So cheers to you - many thanks again for your help mate! :)

I am running a dual lone wolf physical tactican save and wondering if I should change out the inquisitor like class.

Currently its Warfare + Necro + poly, my other character is the default ranger + warfare.

Should I switch out say necro for scoundrel or something?

Hm, most spells in Necro do physical damage, but don't really do a lot of damage.

If you want something very versatile, I'd recommend rushing summoning to 10 on your second character (should go fast with lone wolf). This will turn your incarnate (or your bone widow) into a figurative beast. As you probably know you can form your incarnate in an elemental puddle, thus making sure you always have the correct element for exploiting enemies weaknesses. (Summoning doesn't scale with int - only the summoning skill, so it works great on any character) Plus you get access to all the elements, and good phys damage to work in tandem with your ranger. Throw in one or two points in aero, pyro, geo etc for some nice utility spells like haste and armor/magic armor skills and you should have a solid team, IMO.

What's your main stat on your Inquisitor - strength and a 2H weapon? I've heard scoundrel is a lot of fun but never used anything else than the teleport and the sleep spell, since I don't have a character with daggers. What do you think would complement your ranger the best? What do you want to accomplish? Good luck!

Is it just me or is taunt pretty fucking useless. You have to strip away their entire physical armour before it works and by the time you've done that to everyone focusing your squishies they're most likely able to have killed them themselves.

Yeah, it is not that great for sure, very situational. I found it works okay on my Incarnate since he hits like a truck, but even then I usually only taunt 1 enemy at a time.

If you have the talent points to spare, put 3 points of "Stench" on all your characters except your tank. That should do the trick!

That's my main use of my rogue: with his mobility, he can reach anyone on the first turn, shred his phys armor (except for boses), and knock him down (with adrelanine). Rince and repeat for every ranged enemy.

I should have mentioned I want to not use summoning as my other tactican duo lone wolf (which is CoOp) is magical and uses it. Its kind of zzzzz.

Man makes me wish so hard that Bard was in.

Plan to do 2H but currently I need the sponge so 1H and shield. Though currently best weapon is a 1H for him. Dumping in STR yea.

Very cool! That + all the scoundrel skill seems like it would bring a ton more utility than what my warrior currently has to offer.

I'll give it a try! Cheers! :)

take aero 2 for teleport + nether swap + the pawn talent.

lets say there is melee enemy in the middle and archers on high ground sideways.
-walk up to melee enemy for 0 ap (pawn)
-use teleport to move one of the archers to melee guy, 2 ap
-use nether swap to swap yourself with another archer for 1 ap
-use backlash to teleport yourself back to the group while stripping mad armor from someone, 1 ap.

flesh sacrifice + adrenaline = gain +3 ap back

for 4 ap you clustered 3 enemies together and put yourself in backstab position near the group. now just AOE them enough to strip all their armor (blitz, crippling blow) or just use stomp to do mad damage to all 3 while also knocking down the one you attacked with backlash previously.

i have glass cannon on my rogue so with 9 ap i can instantly remove 2-3 enemies from a fight on my first turn.

i heard that there is also a glitch: if you put idol in backpack, when you die you'll keep original version while getting new one in your main inventory. i didnt verify that though as i believe this item is broken as fuck as it is, and having one is more than enough.

Containers are bugged. There is a money exploit that works the same way.

Anyone worked out a reliable way to stop items you pick up going into your skill bar? If you unlock your bar you can drag the items to between the squares and it'll put it back in your inventory, but it's a nightmare. I don't want or need items on my skill bar other than my bedroll for quick access.

There is a mod that does this but it will disable achievements.

I prefer warfare+scoundrel over aero for the rogue: scoundrel gives cloaks & adaggers (only 1 AP) and backlash (also onlky 1 AP+a "free" attack, short cooldown), warfare gives phoenix dive (also 1 AP) and battering ram (only movement skill with 2 AP, but knockls down).
With that + The Pawn, no need to invest in Aero with a rogue, and that way you don't bring your ennemies near your mage (I have 2 mages).

teleport alone is the best skill in the game, that alone worth aero 2 on all characters. teleporting enemy melee into oil fields/far far away, bringing mages and archers into melee range or saving your teammates from the middle of necrofire massacre is invaluable in any battle

I have it on my three other characters, who can actually also make use of the other aero spells so...

After a few struggles getting to grips with the game in the first few fights I did, I'm finding combat a bit easy going at the moment on Classic. I basically wandered through the Fort and blitzed everything once I was level 4-5. Build seems to be working great, just need to respecialise a little bit once I get the ability to do so, especially on civil abilities.

I'm just exploring the area outside Fort Joy and just had a big fight with a ton of
Void Slug things
and got a ton of XP for it. Was great.

Also I
opened the chest
. But teleported it to safety first.

My Lohse could use some more Aeromancy spells, Gawin seems to have disappeared due to quest events. Anywhere else I can get them in Act 1?

Oh and I love that Fane actually is able to use
other race's abilties once he gets his mask
. Honestly can't imagine *not* having him in a party now.

1/3 into act 2. Still a damn fine game. Driftwood was kinda overwhelming, in a good way, but now i'm more or less ready to go exploring. Level 12, and scaling has begun to go crazy, as other people have mentioned. '

also fuck you pimp waiter.

Edit: In terms of difficulty, Classic is okay, though my power levels are getting kinda high. If i get careless i can still lose. I did limit myself, insofar as i i'm strictly defining my classes. No teleport on anyone except my Hydroareomancer. In that sense every party member is highly specialized and can do stuff no other member can, which sometimes limits my effectiveness but adds nice flavour. I hate having a party where everyone can do eveything.

Lohse: Ranger/Pyro/Geo/Persuasion
Red P: Warfare/leadership/Bartering/summoning (He did dabble in demons, so it makes sense)
Fane: Hydro/Aero/Necro/Loremaster
Sibile: Scoundrel/Poly/Sneaking/Thievery. Total MVP. Absolutely insane DPS, mobility and control. I'm not using crossbows on my ranger though. They seem borked and OP.

I'm definitely not min-maxing, but most characters have easy access to both magic and physical attacks, so i'm not being too sub-optimal for flavour and challenge.

Also, how do you organise your skill bars. Ie, is there a way to move a skill to bar 2 without filling up bar 1?

Act 3 temples..

I found some neat loots in the temple of Amadia, and it's quite long. Compared to that, the Orcish Temple that I explored a few hours before seemed lacking. There was only a room full of traps and some room with an orc spirit and 3 big coffins. Did I miss something in that temple?

I just realized I lost Sebille's neddle.

Hopefully, it's just there for flavor and I didn't screw up her quest majorly, right?

Alright, I just started the game and I'm at Fort Joy. Where can I find a shovel?

Also, are their any differences on how origin quests operate if you do the questline with the principal character as a companion, rather than your own origin?

Metroidvania

People called Romanes they go the house?
AFAIK (admittedly only in the beginning-ish of act 2), when choosing sebille as the main char, the needle has prompted a couple of 'character' quest updates when examined, but nothing too blatant - it's also used in dialogue options once in a while, but I assume that's just flavor text?

not really, for example the layout of Act 1 is a bit of an adventure park. I explored everything, then sort of figured out what had to be done.

The maps are usually a bit of a puzzle themselves
Thanks for your input. I don't understand the appeal of this kind of thing. Why not signpost a little bit? I like open worlds, Morrowind is one of my favorites, but D:OS1 felt like I was constantly pulling teeth.

I'm tinkering way too much with my party to ever get that deep into the game. Especially trying to pick which of the main characters I want to play as vs which I want as party members. I'm hoping that the same broad arcs play out if you play as a character as if you have them in the party?

Anyway, I have also spent way too much time in the editor. It's a little glitchy and weird, but it's really fun to make maps. I'll post some screenshots of where I got after a few hours of mucking around later. My hope is to make a cool adventure that folks can play through!

Man i've been spoiled by playing turn based games with the ability to speed up the game clock. Just did a fight with nearly 15 enemies and it felt like it took forever. It doesn't help when you aren't paying attention to notice that the enemies can raise their dead as well making things take even longer if you waste your AOE early.

Is the game dead easy on explorer? Really intrigued by everything I'm reading about Original Sin 2, but I don't know that I have the mental capacity to play a super difficult game at this point.

The leap in difficulty from explorer to classic mode is immense. Explorer is almost too easy, and classic hands my ass to me almost each fight.

I've settled on explorer because some of these fights take over an hour on classic.

I've not played many turn-based games outside of some XCOM 2, and find explorer difficulty fine but just a bit too easy.

Get this game ASAP. It is a masterpiece. My personal GOTY in the best gaming year in a decade it seems.

There are lots of fights in 2 which are straight up boring, that play out more like cutscenes than gameplay.
It's weird these fights made it into the game, I feel like a first time DM could figure out that 5 npc's and 10 enemies isn't fun or interactive for players.

Yea. I keep CheatEngine open just for the option of enabling the speedhack when needed.

Well congratulations! You got yourself caught!
I don’t normally watch Gamespot or GI shows, but they both had some panels with their review editors I caught on YouTube and some of the stories being told out of gameplay were incredible. (Though the GI show felt like an adult trying to have a real discussion with a bunch of sugar-addled children making loud noises, which was a bit grating)

I’m holding out for a possible console port next year, but it is getting impossibly tough the more I hear about this game.

Thinking about how OP huntsman gear/skills/damage output is, how viable would a team of 4 archers be?

I'm only midway through on Classic, but I'd imagine you would be eaten alive by rogues, or any situation where you start in a bad position, surrounded or outnumbered. Finess armour isn't great at soaking up damage and for all the raw power archers have, their mobility and durability isn't very good at all. And probably more critically, every party member would be after the exact same gear; and sure, you could steal more, but I can't imagine it'd be enough.

You could probably make it work with some support and disabling skills (like Polymorpher, trick arrows, and water or earth spells), but I don't think it'd be ideal.

So far the game is very easy on Tactician in act 1. I didn't fight any bosses yet, but the (small enemy spoilers in act 1)
crocodiles, frogs, turtles, undead and magisters
were all very easy to go down.

My party:

Ifan: warfare-polymorph-aero using sword and shield
Fane: warfare-geo-polymorph using two hander
Red: hydro-necro using wands
Lohse: huntsman-pyro using crossbows

Good points, thanks for the well thought-out answer. I paired huntsman with polymorph, honestly can't imagine using a ranger without being able to fly lol. Maybe huntsman/scoundrel combo..

I love how each little thing in this game makes my imagination go wild thinking up ways of min/maxing. And I normally hate min/maxing lol.
