Divinity: OS - EE |OT| No one has as many friends as the man with many cheeses!

All spells scale better now in terms of damage numbers. But to balance it out, they've removed or retooled a few of them. Fire isn't the powerhouse it used to be, for example.

The new spell progression really lends itself well to multi-school casters. I think Witchcraft 3/Aero 1/Pyro 3/Geo 1 is very strong. Gets you Oath, Rapture, Teleport, Oil, Fireball and Fire Elemental.

If you only want Rapture, 2 is enough in witch. Also gets you destroy summon which is very useful for certain fights. 2 tends to be the sweet number when you just want basic utility stuff, you get 5 novice and 2adept skills which is enough for most schools, though sometimes you get AP penalty on adept skills if you don't have 3, but depending on the spell that's ok.

If you don't want to get them to 4-5, leaving air and earth at 1 doesn't lose you much either.

I really like the idea of a Battlemage type with a bunch of those low level Touch spells but I'm not entirely sure how to go about it. I'm not super familiar with what spells are in the game at the moment but if I keep restarting I will never be. Not really enjoying my 2H Knight at the moment, he doesn't feel particularly useful in fights where the enemies are spread out.

Couldn't resist and bought it today on PS4

I have played the vanilla version on PC before and there are some things missing in the ps4 version:

- you are not able to put your party into different formations like in the pc version (not that big of a deal)

- you don't seem to be able to unlink the portraits to move characters from the party individually (a much bigger deal for me). Am I missing something or is that just not possible?

edit: never mind I just figured out the second part

Touches don't do enough damage, the main advantage is they proc status effect and cost low AP due to the short range, but they have cooldowns and do less damage than wand attacks even. Enemies should collapse on you so them being spread out shouldn't be too much of an issue, use mages with teleport to move the archers/casters in range or charm/CC them until you get to them.

Also make sure you have a blacksmith at like, 2 or 3 whichever it is(you get +2 from gear, so you only need 1pt, or if you have Jahan he starts with Scientist which gives 1) and Anvil your chest armor, it removes the movement penalty on them. You spend less AP moving around this way.

What's that? I feel like I see them in every single cupboard/closet I open.

Gold, my boy.

Magic Needle & Thread + Cloth Scraps = Magic Robe. The thread isn't used up, only the cloth is. Takes craft 5 (buy 2 points, wear gear for the other 3). Sells for 500 to 600 gold, costs nothing to make but the cloth.

You can unchain them by highlighting the portrait and then hitting triangle on the dualshock 4 (Y if using Xbox controller). I'm still trying to figure out how to change formations.

It's definitely possible.

You go into the character selection menu and it tells you on the screen at the bottom to separate / unlink. On the PC version with a controller this is done with the Y / Triangle button,

Some are still useful, Venomous Strike was nice so far, sadly poison doesn't scale well I believe otherwise it'd be useful since it can backstab(so it's a backstab dmg that poisons, but it's 4AP so once you have 5DW it's meh), but Lacerate when you can't get into position for a backstab/are out of range is great and Daggers Drawn is worth using whenever it's up since it's 280% dmg for 6AP instead of 200% for 2 backstabs. Trip and Eye Gouge are nice for utility too, and Trip especially increases your damage a lot with Bully and Headstrong.

Creeping Infestation being bad kinda sucks though, I wanted it to be good. You tested the toy?

yeah, offensive skills are only used when for some reason i cant get into backstabbing position. blind sucks and dmg is low. trip is good though.

creeping infestation is worse than the worst novice skill lol. Toy is wonderful. Combine it with teleportation, BOOM

If anyone spots a vendor that sells cloth scraps, lemme know. Just found a rather neat economic trick using them.

completely random. Keep visiting them. And you know whats better? metal scraps and leather scraps. Have too much money though so i stopped crafting.

Anymore, so many games get compared to WoW, and quite often the resemblance is only passing. This game however just screams WoW and Diablo 3. Not just for the "generic and cartoony so it runs on any system" graphics, but the bosses and especially the writing (with the humor). Not negatives at all, but I just can't stop seeing how heavily Blizzard inspired this game. The music in this game is fantastic too.

Yeah, I know the touches don't do much but it seems like a fun idea in my head.

I really need to figure crafting out a bit more, I had no idea about that recipe and I rarely use it. I'll have to do that, thanks! The movement thing was an issue just before I posted because I was doing some escort quest outside Silverglen and all the enemies were spread out and on my first try two instantly blew up one of the NPCs before I could get to them.

Hah or die from fire or poison when you got through a tough fight through the skin on your teeth. Couldn't cure fast enough post fight with the accelerated time.

Man, finally cleared out
Evelyn
's lair, and now for the boss. First off, wtf at the fight outside the cave? I charmed the big fucker but couldn't wipe out everyone before he died...one-shotted two of my characters on the same turn.

I...I don't even want to know what has changed with the boss fight.

Yeah I think it is kind of strange how some enemies hit way harder than anything and can drop your characters super quick before you get a chance to prevent it.

I actually broke the
Evelyn
fight by
dropping a poison barrel on her while one character had started the conversation, she never summoned her minions and I killed her in two turns. I did keep her stunned/knocked down the entire time but the fight started without her instantly summoning everything.

So has anyone here gotten their skeptical friends to try this or buy this one yet?

Only one person I know would play this game in her spare time and she's had it since the original launched but never really had the time to dive deep. I played through the Lighthouse bit with my cousin the other day and he enjoyed it when he normally wouldn't have the patience to play it solo. I doubt he'd play it at all if we weren't playing co-op.

I didn't see an answer yet, but does the music not loop for mini boss type battles or what? Damn NPCs spam their BS in town, but the music plays once and it's done. :)

I was wondering that too. I played a bit of the vanilla version and didn't remember music just cutting out like it does now on every battle

I played a few hours of the original game but I never got that deep into it, I have a basic understand of how this game works, but consider me a total noob. I have a few questions. Thanks in advance!

Is making a rogue PC a good idea? I normally play rogues in most RPGs, but from what I can tell, the rogue type character in this game is not great. Was thinking of going sneak/backstabbing rogue with a fire/earth caster.

What does giving your two starting characters AI personalities do? Would you guys suggest giving it to them?

If a rogue for one of my PC is out of the question, what is a good combo that's not double caster or caster/healer? (I am pretty much set on making a earth/fire caster, that spider is just to good ;D)

Anyone have any tips or mechanic explanations that aren't clear, or not even explained? While I don't want to look to much up, I really don't want to have to restart the game after six hours of play, so I want to make sure I set up my characters to be able to finish the game on classic mode.

If you're not planning on playing some high difficulty you'll be fine. Rogues apparently got nerfed from their broken state of sneak/backstab/sneak/backstab of the original, they do fine now but are less cheesy. The talent Guerilla sounds good but isn't very useful anymore.

The personalities are for the character you aren't controlling when you enter a conversation. If you pick no AI for either then you have to choose each option everytime both characters are expected to speak. The AI you pick dictates that character's personality, so if you're kind of an asshole and the AI of the other character isn't, you'll have to argue with it a lot more. That would get annoying with the constant Rock-Paper-Scissors you'd have to do for every choice.

If a rogue for one of my PC is out of the question, what is a good combo that's not double caster or caster/healer? (I am pretty much set on making a earth/fire caster, that spider is just to good ;D)

Like I said, Rogue is fine but if you're worried about that your companion options are 2H Knight, Enchanter (Air/Water), Rogue, Ranger. Build around that if you don't want to go with your Rogue (you'll be fine!).

I can't really think of anything huge, if you're playing on Classic you should be good. It feels like even if you get blown up in a fight you can re-evaluate how you handled it and do better the next time.

How do people think of it as a spiritual successor to Ultima anyway now that it's been a year since the original release and there've been plenty of updates since? Seemed to me that it mainly became its own thing more so than an Ultima successor.

I don't really understand the question/issue. It can be both things simultaneously.

It feels to me like a spiritual successor to pools of radiance: ruins of mythdrannor. The party style, the need to save often, accidentally doing things to NPcS, the way you explore and combat begins, the combat itself. It all feels like a 2015 version of that game to me

So are the
Hall of Heroes hirelings
still broken? Because it's not scaling to my level, and there wouldn't be any real point in grabbing a
level 2 for crafting bot purposes
if it didn't scale. I read that there was a problem with this in the original beta, but then I'm assuming it was fixed in the release since many people give that exploit as a tip.

What a wonderful thing is to face a boss immune to *all* elements on Tactician. Luckily, it wasn't immune to a two-handed axe.

I'm really loving this mode. Not sure how balanced would be with a full party, but with dual Lone Wolf it's being a blast.

Just use one of the named companions. I'm using Jahan, as he comes with the Scientist talent, so he's my blacksmith/crafting monkey. Those companions will level with you.

I posted this a few days ago but my only gripe so far is how intrusive the dialogue menu is; why does it have the block almost the whole screen while npcs are talking? Is there a way to change it? On the PS4 btw.

So in the opening mysterious murder quest, how are players supposed to find out that you're supposed to
use the reveal spell at the torches on the beach?
I've been using a walkthrough for some (okay, a lot) of the quests because although I know what I generally should be doing, the actual steps or order of events is often beyond me.

Its been a bit since I did that part but I remember some comment when you picked up the
Reveal Scroll and the diary mentioning a hidden cave about how she left behind a spell to reveal a hidden entrance or something.

Yeah, there was certainly a mention of it somewhere in the documents that you pick up from the same room you get the spell scroll from.

Hah, just checked it. It is actually mentioned on the quest log of the 'A Mysterious Murder' quest. "Spells such as these don't work unless you're close to the object or location it's aligned to, so we still have some sleuthing to do."

Combine this with the quest marker at the cave entrance area and the rest should be pretty dang obvious.

Is there some sort of bug with cloud save uploading with the Steam version? Or are the files just that enormous? It just took five minutes to finish after a play session.

No? Works the same as always, with the exception that if you want to use the 'recipe" for a bottle of water, for example, you actually have to carry the barrel during that time. If it is on the ground, seem to have to do it one at a time.

Is there a way to repair stuff without unequipping it each time? I thought if I just the repair hammer on the hotbar it would let me but it doesn't work.

Edit: nvm lol I'm blind >.>

was this the key for the big Black gate after the first fight? Iirc there was a key and a secret switch behind one of the pictures in the captains room (after the fight agains this Demon thing). The switch unlocks a hidden entrance in this room. Down there is a cave and a place with lots of traps, switches and a giant skull gate. You need to find the right switch (don't know the english ne, sorry. Some of the switches may hurt you, others unlock treasurs and open the gate). Find the right one and fight the Boss. This should give you the key for the Black gate

Don't know if it's just me, but I am finding a bit of the questing a bit obtuse for me, sometimes I've got no idea how to progress a quest rather than just revisiting people and talking to them all and hoping I stumble upon some progression, can make it a little frustrating I probably prefer more clearly defined goals.

You're doing it semi-wrong. Just explore everywhere, and you'll trip over the answers eventually.

It's nice to see that Divinity EE got some traction on Console.

Wasteland 2 DC made me very wary for this type of game on Console.
I really hope Larian gives us some info on sale numbers.

I can't believe the game doesn't explain the levelling to you! I just put a bunch of points in other stats because I thought I needed to level up more before I could go to 2
