Do you like the name "NX" or do you think Nintendo should change it?

Following the theme of "Nintendo across multiple platforms" I always thought Nexus would be a great name (and that is what I think when I see NX). Nintendo Nexus ftw!

Does anyone think they should keep the "Wii" name?
Imagine Reggie saying: "..... And we call it Wii U 2. With Wii, Nintendo focused on Wii as the family. With U, Nintendo gave back the games to U as a core gamer. But now it's time for 2. Wii make games just for the 2 of U."

I still think Nintendo will tap into nostalgia for the name. They've kind of rebranded themselves using classic red and they're releasing the mini NES. They're clearly basing their image around nostalgia right now.

Given NX will be at the heart of the company, I'd expect an old school name.

Having said that, Nintendo Go would be a pretty appropriate and kinda cool name.

ANS sounds better for what I think they're delivering. If it's true this is a step just down from Xbox One, that's not bad for Nintendo considering where they seem to position themselves.

And yeah, now they can have plenty of developers. They are called phone developers. If they got Cave to make some shooters, NXtra is a great name.

Of course they should change it. It's a code name and not even a good one like Nintendo Revolution was before the Wii.

As for the new name... That's a tough one. If it ends up being a portable device like the rumors suggest, Nintendo Go would not be a bad choice, specially with the hook of the Pokemon Go success.

I think they should keep it because going by past existences whatever name they are actually going with is going to be terrible. At least NX sounds kind of cool.

How about Wii Go? This way, we know it's portable and if it doesn't do so well(all about the content at launch for me) you can blame that 'Wii' confusion again.

Please no. The Wii brand has to go away.

NX always felt to me like it was the most generic title they could apply to something, so they could talk about it without really talking about it (possibly before they even had made solid decisions on their plan). They could stick with it, sure, but it would probably be better to rename it.

Quoting other thread.
Would be fitting for the new console to be named NGO ( Nintendo Go )

This works. I'm not in love with it, but it helps push the whole "pick up your games and go" idea, obviously aligns with the recently popular Pokémon Go, has the added benefit of meaning "Five" in Japan, something they could play with somehow I wager, it's short...

SquareEnix may be a little annoyed at the choice, or maybe they'd be there Day 1 with their "Go" series on it, who can say.

You act like they won't have time to get the name out there if they change it.

Do you actually think anyone outside message boards know what an NX is?

It will most likely be something like Nintendo GO, or the Wii Go.

The name should do 3 things:

1) Convey the concept

2) Sound "cool"

3) Sound catchy

I think NX and Fusion can do all 3. "Go" just makes it sound like a handheld system. It doesn't really say anything about the hybrid concept.

Nope. The codename for 3DS was Century or something involving the letters CTR.
Apparently according to the SDK, the 3DS codename was "Chiheisen", which is Japanese for "Horizon" (kind of a clever choice when you think about it). Nobody has figured out what the "TR" in the model number means, but my uneducated guess on this is that they took it from NTR to identify it as a successor of the Nintendo DS.

I can imagine people saying it in everyday conversations: "hey honey, pass me the NX". Sounds pretty cool.

Hope Nintendo don't change it to something like Miibooboo.
