Do you see your life as a game?

I have been thinking about this. We as gamers have this specific thinking because we play video games. I mean when we live our lives, gamer logic can appear in our minds...I mean things like main quest, side quests...

That happens when you look up from your phone while driving.

For me everything in life is a game...yep. Consider lots of stuff under game theory. But its usually not a good game. Everyone is cheating like there is no tomorrow....its annoying.

Playing the original Sims when it first came out, I started involuntarily seeing the stat bars in my day-to-day. E.g., say something cringe and you see a big red "--" thought bubble flash in your mind, that sort of thing. Like the Tetris effect but kind of useful. It went away eventually.

That is deep.

Let me just say a quote from one of my favorite movie of all time "Ready Player One"

"That was when I realized, as terrifying and painful as reality can be, it's also the only place where you can find true happiness. Because reality is real."

― Ernest Cline, Ready Player One

I don't see it that way, no, because to me, seeing life as a game, or a VR simulation, sucks the life, humanity, heart, and significance out of it. It turns it into something mechanical and trivial.

On the other hand, I do think there is some truth to it, in that our life here is just a subset of a much greater reality. There are levels of reality. We are living in a sort of "virtual reality" in that sense - a reduced version of a much fuller reality. However, I also think that part of the "game," so to speak, is to be fully immersed in it - because the point of the game is to learn and grow experientially. You can't do that if you are detached in your head, thinking of life as a "game" or some VR simulation. You aren't immersed in the experience, then, you're two steps removed from it. Also, I think conceptualizing life as a "game" drains the life and humanity out of it, like I said above.

You don't need to be a gamer to consider life to be a game.

I've always seen it as Poker. You get a hand of cards and deal with whatever you got.

No we don't, no it doesn't. You may need to talk to a therapist, because that is not normal if you're past your young teens.

I think of that sometimes, i find it easier to understand society.
I do think of work and some life challenges as quests or obstacles to overcome.
I find it that in some ways its easier to make a big problem small and takle it one part at a time.
But i do consider life a game, and basically i am in a mmo with no dlc or cash to spend and have to use my wits to get the same gear as others.
I am majoring in philosophy, so its a thing i actually think a lot
