At least you can talk. Who are you?
This looks like something straight out of Arrow.

Its so sweet that they are going so comic accurate with the costumes. I'm still not 100% sold on Cumberbatch, hopefully he'll do a good job. So is this set before The Winter Soldier then? Sitwell gave Strange a shout out in that.

Glad to see them embrace some of the campier aspects of the MU (seriously, why complain about the costumes? They're wizards!). I'm excited for this, the cast is insane.

I'm guessing these pics are the Sanctum Sanctorum.

Hold on, friend! I'd love to share with you some swell news about the Windows 8 Metro UI! Wait, where are you going?
I think his costume looks awesome, it's going to look great on film.

Judging a movie off set photos is a waste of time. This footage will go through so much post production effects work. You'll probably see this scene in the actual movie and go wow.

the movie looks fun. when can we expect our first teaser? when Civil War release?

Something attached to post-credits of Civil War. First trailer probably a couple of weeks later (I'd have thought if it was going to be attached we'd have heard about it by now) Right now all the hype's going to be on Civil War.

Hands down my fav comic book costume right there. And all of this just from set pics.
It looks majestic.

And damn if Benny isn't rocking that outfit. He literally looks like Strange came out of a comic book.

As far as set pics go these are probably one of the better looking ones. And smh at some of the comments here.

Still not expecting much from this movie because of Derrickson and the writers. It's a very tough film to pull off. On one hand you have probably the best origin story of Strange to juggle that is a tough task but then the mysticism, darker side, visual effects while juggling all these aspects. Unlike any Marvel or comic book movie out there. This is Marvels or any other studios toughest task. At least much respect for them even trying to take on this one. Hopefully it'll at least be enjoyable. Not expecting greatness.

I highly doubt that Marvel is going to use that shot in its entirety, so the context doesn't really matter.

What I'm concerned with is the tone. Strange is about the occult and dark forces no? I'm interested in seeing how they'll pull that off in broad daylight with colorful costumes.

Edit:Mock the cape all you want, but that material is outstanding. I want a bath robe made of the the same textile if possible.

Not everything that is occult and has to do with dark magic has to be grittygrimdark. Quite the contrary. Dr. Strange always has been over the top, with crazy colour schemes, bizarre dimensions and flashy spells flying all over the place. It almost never tapped into the grimdark urban fantasy tropes, that's what Blade, Ghost Rider, Werewolf by Night and the likes have been for.

There's also something whimsical about Dr. Strange - the books never were taking themselves massively seriously, because the good writers for Dr. Strange know how absolutely ridiculous his corner of the universe is.

So if anything, what you should be worried about is if the tone is colourful and bright enough, rather than the opposite.

not really a comic book movie fan, but will watch this in the theater. Looks weird + Batch.
probably watch civil war at home, no interest in batman/superman at all.

The costume does seem straight out of the comic book. Is there anything significant about it that looks "adapted for movies"?

No yellow gloves.

if dr strange lives in new york why didn't he help the avengers

Dr. Stange generally leaves all the non-mystic threats to other people. He is mainly concerned with protecting Earth from threats out of other dimensions.
It's also possible he wasn't a magician by the time Avengers happened, we don't know yet how he fits into the timeline.

Hes been known to Shield for awhile. He was one of the targets that Hydra selected with the hellicarriers. Maybe he showed up on everyones radar with the chitauri invasion.

Well, fuck, you are right. He isn't even wearing gloves.
They kind of removed everything yellow from it. For shame, Marvel.

At least Benedict looks the part. Looks silly as fuck though, but it's a comic book movie so it's to be expected.

I'm not sure that's supposed to mean he was active as the SS by then, just that he might be a problem at some point, together with millions of others around the world.

Why else would they target him? He was an asshole surgeon before.

That's how the algorithm works, it targets people would be a problem now or in the future. It doesn't even mean people who by chance would become superheroes only. It could be just regular people.

Cumberpatch (sp) is the man. Will see just to watch him try and pull this off. Don't even care about anything else. Every movie I've seen him in I've enjoyed.

As others have said, Doctor Strange doesn't really deal with low-level threats like alien invasions. When your job is protecting the very fabric of reality and this dimension, the Avengers movies are sort of small fries.

While the Avengers were bombing aliens, I'm sure Strange was busy fighting unseen and immeasurable evils attempting to rip asunder the very universe.
