Doctor Who Series 2011 |OT| Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey Stuff

Without going too off-top, that Don't Scare the Hare Thing last week was so, so awful. It did that horrible sin that most modern "active" shows fall foul of - making each game last forever. It should be one fail, end of game. And please, no replays. That stuff made Total Wipeout unwatchable too. There's a reason stuff like Takeshi's Castle is edited to only show 2-3 minutes of each game. Bring back timers and lock-ins like Gladiators and Crystal Maze, I say.

Anyways, 35 minutes left!! Woo!

OK I'm watching the last ep. of Season 1 for the 2005 series, so I'll start Season 2 afterwards.
I'm covered for info regarding the 1st til 6t Doctors, but what about the 7th and 8th? What's the general consciousness regarding them?
Are they non canon? I don't mind if so, but if the stories aren't that good I can skip them.

So I'm watching Don't Scare The Hare (don't ask how) - it's like this thing fell out of the 80s.

That said, Gemma's cute.

I watched that last week while wiating for Who, it's so so so bad. At least a terrible Who episde will always seem brilliant in comparison.

For what it's worth (if you don't have Amazon Prime or Netflix, or just want a mobile version) Amazon has every season of the Newer Doctor Who for 12.99 each (and that includes HD for 5). Season 6 is of course not included with that.

Just finishing up with The Pyramids of Mars, really fun Tom Baker ep. I do love the standard Tom Baker is being tortured pose he always throws out. lol

I figure Classic Who is okay in this thread too, right?

I would love to see a new Crystal Maze and not this shit and Choose thing shows where they go on and on between picking A or B for about 15mins

cant wait for who -_- who the hell give the ok to the hare thing need shooting

I'm kinda enjoying this Hare show. Doesn't seem like the games are taking forever.

In the end, it's a big freakin' robot hare. I'd be happy to have him on Minute to Win It.

Do we have to spoiler stuff as it happens? I know we don't after it's aired in UK, but what about during?
That moment has technically been on air in the UK, so yes!

Yeah, don't spoiler tag the discussion in here. Who fans are smart enough to stay out till they see it at this point.

And with that, I'm out. Have fun guys.

They are canon, but Doctor Who's approach to canon is... liberal.
Oh well that's one thing resolved.
What about the stories/plots in those series?

So 9th Doctor's finale
Deus ex Machina indeed

The important points of 'lore' are generally kept canon - but the rule is 'time/anything can be rewritten'. But story to story, not much happens that's kept on.

2005 (9th Doc) started in a way to be accessible to a fresh audience.

mmm, not a good second part. It's just a bad idea to have the majority of the episode devoted to something (the girl, the spacesuit, the Silents' plan) that doesn't get resolved. The thing that was resolved was done in a flash with the Doctor teleporting to Apollo 11.

Could do with more explanation on how Canton wound up chasing them as fugitives, where the space bricks came from, etc.

also, whoever posted it was right. Canton just wouldn't have used marriage in relation to being gay. That isn't how someone from the 60s would speak. It just seemed like RTD style shoehorning.

Great episode.

Creepy, funny, REALLY CLEVER BIT WHERE THE DOCTOR WINS, nice charming bit at the end, then cut to an alleyway in 1970s New York for the biggest WTF moment in Moffat history.

Really looking forward to how this series develops.

So that's why Moffat wanted RTD to keep The Doctor's daughter alive! That guy thinks ahead.

On a similar note, what the fuck?

Preview talk should always be spoilered, I don't watch them.

The episode was crazy good. So many theories going through my head about Amy, the kid, River and now that final twist...?

I need answers, darn it!

Is it really *that* Daughter, though? It could also be the Amy/Doctor-baby they seem to be somehow implying?

Why weren't the Silents afraid of guns? They must die all the time from hunters, soldiers, etc seeing them and blasting away before they turn round and forget.

I don't think it was her. Wasn't there some speculation before about an old female timelord character from the previous series making a return?

They're not implying it's his. They're implying her time in the TARDIS could cause some...changes.

Either that or the Doctor and Amy have been running off into the Doctor's love shack area of the TARDIS while Rory is on errands. And who could blame the Doctor?

Could have done with a longer running time, to explain a bit more. But indeed a gloriously WTF cliffhanger.

can moffat really deliver on all these loose ends? I'm a bit worried, he's established sooo much already

I don't know, but I'm incredibly excited to find out!

Loved the episode. I do agree the start felt a bit disjointed and sudden, but I guess there was a lot to fit in to that 45 minutes.
