Well, he was once conned out of £2000 by someone who claimed to have a lost episode.
His heart's in the right place, it's his judgement that's sometimes in question.
Ahh fair enough, I dunno I'm gonna remain positive about this all.

I'm hoping BBC is just saving the surprise for the DVD Regenerations Box set and when everyone gets it, turns out its the full Tenth Planet serial and then everyone freaks out so BBC is like "Surprise we have them yall"

I'd want Marco Polo, Evil, Ep1 of Power & the two GI serials over it.

which...may happen
Out of interest why is Marco Polo soo beloved, I've not read much on it, being a historical based ep I never really looked into it, but I see it get a fair bit of love.

It's fun, well written and is the first time the Doctor is "nice"(in beginning/daleks/edge when they're still tweaking the format he comes off as a bit sinister at times).

Ahh, I dunno I like that sinister sneaky mean streak in Hartnell, adds a darker edge to the Doctor and I kinda like it.

It wasn't until I rewatched the first few eps of Hartnell this year that I grew to like him, before that he was my least favorite, but as an older fan I've come to enjoy him abit more.

I've found he tends to do his best work in the historicals or contemporary stories. My favourite performances of his are in "The Romans", "The Aztecs", "The Gunfighters" and "The War Machines". The Gunfighters is fairly ill-thought of because of the singing, but Hartnell is great in it (and truth be told the singing is fine if you watch one ep a week, as the people making the serial intended).

OK maybe I'll have to check them out, I sort of avoided the historical eps just because I wasn't interested in them but might give a few of the earlier ones a go if I see the DVD's on sale

In conversation with a number of BBC folk, I have an official statement from the BBC. It regards the recent rumours of the return of large number of missing, presumed wiped episodes of Doctor Who, as well as Dad’s Army, Morecambe And Wise, The Sky At Night and more that you may have read about on Bleeding Cool over the last few days or even late into the night.

Philip Fleming, Head of Communications, Brands, Content & Digital, BBC Worldwide tells me;

There are always rumours and speculation about Doctor Who missing episodes being discovered, however we cannot confirm any new finds.

But then, he’s probably telling everyone that. From the BBC, however, that is as good as you are going to get in the very near future.

Fingers still oh-so-very crossed.

So the three tons of proof is a shipping label from 2011? I am so confused.

http://www.bleedingcool.com/2013/06...-gains-a-little-more-weight-three-tons-worth/

The story is the cache was found in 2011 and has been shipped to the uk in instalments since the amount recovered is so large - that's supposed to be one of them.

Another rumour is that the Doctor Who tv office paid for the recovery - which if true would cast new light on why we only got one series split over two years. If it turns out to be true it will have been well worth it.

That makes more sense, thanks.

But good holy crap, only ONE of the shipments was 3 tons? What the fuck is included besides film, props? Heh

Film reels aren't light, afaik. They're in metal containers because the film is flammable, there's about 1-2k ft of film each container, and that only amounts to about 10-20 minutes of film each. That's for actual film, but I imagine it's not too different for filmed television.

Once upon a time being a projectionist was a high paid, high stress, difficult job because dealing with film reels without breaking your back or burning down the theatre was actually hard.

Hey, more sense! Thanks, I had no idea. Still though...That's a huge amount of film, wow.

That wasn't really a denial. It's a non-answer.

So HYPE gimme more Troughton.
:D thats all I want, thats all I ever wanted, I want to see more of him, he really does seem like an amazing Doctor from little I've seen of him.

Was watching some old Interviews with him back in the 80's around the series 20th, he seems like such an nice likeable guy, also seeing him and Jon Pertwee having a go at each other was awesome.

You know I'm kinda interested on what kind of a meltdown we'll see on Galifrey Base is this proves to be not true, would it be able to match the anger that place had when Eccelston said he was leaving.

So is it true matt Smith originally applied for Watson before getting the Dr Who gig? That would've been... Odd

I am so, so glad that did not work out. Freeman fucking OWNS that role.

And honestly, out of the two of them (Freeman and Cumberbatch)? Freeman is the better actor. Shh. Don't tell anyone I said that. I love you Bene, you are very pretty and incredibly talented, likely a better actor than 99% of Hollywood, but Freeman is still better.

In the latest HYPE:GET, the dvd listing for "The Moonbase", a serial that was officially announced to have its missing episodes completed via animation, has vanished from amazon.

It's on Amazon.com, still.

It's not on play, or cdwow, or zavvi, or dvd.co.uk, or Tesco Direct, or Sainsburys Entertainment, or sendit, or Asda, or BBC Shop

Edit: Some indications that it may only ever have been on Amazon.com. Don't get too excited.

If there are lost episodes, why are they keeping it secret?
Take all this with a grain of salt. Several grains. In fact, the entirety of Naclar, the legendary Planet of Salt.

I'm pretty sure someone in the far future builds a Time Machine/TARDIS to travel back in time, make copies of the 1st and 2nd Doctor serials and returns to their time thus allowing our future generation to watch these lost classics without messing with the time stream.

Pff, with our luck the time traveler will probably convince the show's producers to make more monster oriented episodes at the expense of the historical/educational stories. Imagine the show eschewing all that great content and ending up with just people running around and shouting at ridiculous sci-fi tropes and continuity gaffes all the time!
