Is there a Season 8 thread? Or a general purpose Doctor Who thread?

It seems weird to keep using this one for news on the 50th anniversary & the Christmas Special.

Although - are those considered Series 7?

There's a 50th Anniversary thread, which I'm assuming is for the gap between Series 7 and 8.

Edit: Alternatively, we could do an "off-season" thread post-50th, or a general purpose Doctor Who thread that's spoiler-free for the 50th and Christmas. Too much? Maybe.

Edit 2: I already have a title for that general purpose thread idea. lol

Right now, the 50th thread is more or less considered the zone where the spoilers/set reports/etc go from that episode... that's why it was created, as people in here freaked out about 50th reports during Series 7. It's tough though. The two threads are serving slightly different purposes, but only slightly..

And half the time, discussions are about the same. The same things are posted at different, but close, times.

I can see the idea of bailing out of this one and jumping on the other thread. But I think we can keep this thread for spoiler-free discussions once the 50th Anniversary comes closer.

Looks like the Christmas special finished filming today:

So it's goodnight from me, and it's goodnight from him. That's a wrap. Christmas 2013. Thank you all.

Too many different people are saying things for there not to be some truth. It remains to be seen what exactly has been returned, but I feel pretty optimistic about at least one or two things being back.

I think the case of the missing episodes was closed a while back really. Some people who where closely involved pretty much confirmed that, in the end, it was just a guy who had some sort of negotiations with the BBC about turning in a large number of the missing episodes, but in the end it turned out that he had nothing to show for it. It was just a guy wasting everybody's time. It always sounded too good to be true, and I guess in this case, it was. It would be nice if someone from the BBC could officially comment on it, and until then the rumor will go on, but I just don't think it's happening anymore. If people want I could try to get some quotes on all this in the morning, but there are other people here who know much more about all this than I do. It's all on gallifreybase somewhere though.

I think the mirror is just blowing smoke up our collective asses, but on the other hand, like someone said, there is way too much smoke for there not to be fire.

There is definitely some misinformation with the #DoctorWho Missing Episode rumours in todays @DailyMirror. We will finally break our......silence on subject by saying missing episodes HAVE been found and some official news will be released within the next month!

Can't say anything further, but it seems various outlets are reporting this now. As far as we've been told, it's not as many as 100.

Nothing further will be reported from us until the official BBC announcement. What a great 50th Anniversary this will be!

Has this account broken any news in the past? Isn't it just another fansite?

Appears to be a fansite but apparently they know some of the names of the lost episodes, but are waiting/allowing for the BBC to break the news instead of them. So, either they know stuff and are just letting the BBC do what they gotta do or they know nothing and are hoping for the best.

This kind of tying together is never any less than clunky and annoying.

Look, we get it. Actors can get cast in more than one role. We don't need to know that Gwen is an echo of Gwyneth through the rift, or that Martha is that Torchwood employee's cousin, or that the Doctor just so happened to be thinking of Caecilius when he regenerated.

Conflicting reports on the missing episodes:

Doctor Who’s brand manager Edward Russell said: “It’s Sunday. The weather’s gray and the papers are full of rubbish…” Asked if he was referring to the above story, he replied, “What do you think?!”

Paul Vanezis from the Doctor Who Restoration Team wrote on his Twitter: “I would love it to be true. But it isn’t.”

Tom Spilsbury, editor of Doctor Who Magazine, said: “It’s nonsense, I’m afraid.”

Nice. good way to get some extra £££, stick some on itunes now, release the DVDs down the road.

Probably episodes from end of the world and web of fear.

Amazing. I didn't believe we would actually get to see them this week.

Crazy.

Sounds like it's The Web of Fear and The Enemy of the World based on everything which has been said on GB in the last few hours.

Radio Times article has been edited, so there might be more than two being released. Invites have been sent out for a screening and press conference on Tuesday according to The Mirror.

So how long should I wait before my hopes are dashed that this is a hoax?
A few days, a week tops?

It should all be revealed by Tuesday or Wednesday.

It sounds like this announcement will only concern Web and Enemy (and that Episode 3 of Web is not included), but that the rest (of the original 90 episode rumor) all do exist and are on their way back eventually once negotiations are completed (including Episode 3 of Web).

Speaking of Clara, just finished Series 7 and I'm a tad confused by something. So Clara jumps into the Doctor's timeline and thus goes through each one of his regenerations at some point in time and ultimately saves him from the Great Intelligence. Is there any explanation as to why he only remembered the version of her in the Asylum and in Victorian London?

If it was because in his existing timeline (before she jumps in) she hadn't actually had to mess with it yet, that doesn't explain why she was still there those two times before the Doctor was aware of her entering his timeline.

I figured -- Technically, none of that had happened yet. She only had to go in and fix things AFTER The Great Intelligence went in and started fucking them up; so the memories of Clara saving him sort of popped into existence for him once she'd done it.

However, if that's the case, why was she in the Asylum and Victorian London? Yeah, it's... er...
