I'm not a real big fan of Hartnell, but what I've seen of Troughton, I like quite a bit.
Soo hype
More excited for these to be found than the 50th
I've seen all but 3 Troughton serials that have been released (Seeds of Doom, The Krotons & The Dominators), I really like what I have seen and I almost want to call him my favourite. Easily in my top 3.
I really hope I get to see his Dalek stories
Yeah thats kinda why I haven't watched them yet, I do have the DVD's sitting there to be watched, but just not got around to them yet.Well, the latter two of those you named are real duds, but Seeds of Doom is quality. The narrated soundtracks to the lost stories that the BBC have released are well worth checking out.unless they've found them all
I somehow ended up on Ian Levines twitter, I may need a lava shower. Anyway, he seems to think there's 9 to come tomorrow and more secreted away for later release assuming people don't pirate them and a profit is made.
Also, Gallifrey Base has shut down any conversation about missing episodes until whatever press release is made tomorrow.
This annoyed me. What's the point of having a niche forum if you can't engage in fanwank speculation?
I don't really get why they're so adamant on getting people not talking about Who, in the 50th year anniversary no less. So much for this Moffat quote from 2012:
"We've got an awful lot of stuff to announce before [the 50th anniversary]. We don't aim to have one event, over a year in the future - we want to make Doctor Who an event every single week. And we're going to pull that off, so... patience!"
Moffat has shown he writes cheques his Doctor Who can't cash in the past, this is merely another example
I agree, I'm not trying to hold it against him. I posted it only to add to my point that they keep going out of their way to make people not talk about the series, like in the Gallifrey Base bit APZone posted about and such. What I have a beef with is the entire "don't talk about Doctor Who until we release something, except we won't release anything lol" (e.g. the 50th trailer). I thought the 50th year of the series was supposed to be a celebration but it's October already and it didn't feel like it imo. I can understand not wanting spoilers out but some of the posturing since Comic Con has been grating to me. Anyway, the Special is next month so we'll finally see how it goes.I have little problem with Moffat's off-the-cuff comments in interviews not panning out. I mean... that "all year round" quote was two years ago. Plans change, things fall through. I see very little reason to keep hauling him over the coals for it.

I've heard they're premiering the 50th anniversary trailer on children in need (15/11/2013).
lol - I'm being facetious but actually at this rate it wouldn't surprise me.

Nah, just the people who own Gallifrey Base are properly smitten with getting attention from the BBC and so they do whatever the BBC tells them to, including operating a police state attitude to spoilers and things the BBC doesn't want out. It's bollocks really.
Steven W. Hill said:You're wrong, we've had no contact from anyone at the BBC about any of this - not any time since it started, in fact.
Except the Beeb didn't tell them to.
Sounds like there's a screening of something going on around about now, but press is embargoed until midnight.

Well as an old school fan, I'm more excited about old episodes than the while 50th trailerI can't imagine they're going to debut the trailer for at least another two weeks now - they'll want whovians focusing on spending money on these recovered classic episodes in lieu of anticipating the 50th.

Supposedly - and this is 'heard from a guy on the internet', so take with an appropriately large pinch of salt - the press conference/screening is from 3:30 to 7pm. I've only heard suggestions of a press embargo, not a statement, but there has been mention that they don't want people tweeting from within the streaming.
All is just hearsay, but strikes me as plausible.
10:30 tomorrow morning for me. What a great way to start the work day ^_^As to an embargo : @Telegraph_TV Good news. The Doctor Who missing episodes embargo will lift at midnight tonight!
Why have an embargoed press conference? Why not just stream it on the website?
What the fuck is the point of an embargo on something like this?
There is none.
Build hype? But considering they are supposedly aren't announcing that many episodes, I dunno.

The Web of Fear is one of the most missed serials.
But now all six missing episodes have been found - in a dusty storeroom in Nigeria.
The previously lost nine shows were among 11 traced to a television relay station and the find brings back to life an entire six-episode story, while another is almost complete.
The newly found programmes - which introduce the character of Alistair Lethbridge-Stewart, better known to audiences as The Brigadier - will be available on iTunes from today and will later come out on DVD.
Phillip Morris, the director of Television International Enterprises Archive, unearthed the programmes by looking up the records of overseas shipments of tapes made by the BBC.
The stories, The Enemy Of The World (1967) and The Web Of Fear (1968) and both starring Patrick Troughton as the second Doctor, have now been remastered by BBC Worldwide, the corporation’s commercial arm.
Mr Morris said: ‘‘I remember wiping the dust off the masking tape on the canisters and my heart missed a beat as I saw the words Doctor Who. When I read the story code, I realised I’d found something pretty special.’’ Only one episode of The Enemy Of The World - which featured Deborah Watling as companion Victoria and Frazer Hines, later to find fame in Emmerdale as Jamie - had remained in the archives, so the addition of programmes one, two, four, five and six have completed the story.
Fiona Eastwood, director of consumer products, BBC Worldwide, said: ‘‘We are thrilled with the recent discovery of The Web Of Fear and The Enemy Of The World and we’re very happy to be launching re-mastered versions of these treasured episodes to fans as we celebrate the 50th year of Doctor Who.’’ The BBC still had the first edition in the Web Of Fear story, and the new finds mean only number three is missing. The tale introduced Nicholas Courtney as Lethbridge-Stewart, who began with the rank of Colonel but later became Brigadier.
The missing episode has been recreated using 37 still images which were available and the original audio which survived.

Just to play devil's advocate (I work in media relations) the midnight embargo is an important tool to maxmise publicity.
It means that the daily papers on Friday won't feel 'scooped' by Thursday's TV/Radio news programmes and online news websites and so will give the story a much higher profile in their pages. It also means the story will be higher up the running order for breakfast TV and radio bulletins on Friday morning (breakfast radio, in particular, gets massive listening figures compared to the rest of the day).
So while it is annoying, it will mean the story will get bigger coverage in Friday's papers and be heard by peak radio audiences Friday morning too. So the midnight embargo actually gives the story more gravitas which - in some ways - is a good thing.
Might be a way to time the release of information to get the best exposure.
