Doctor Who Series Seven |OT| The Question You've Been Running From All Your Life

My first thought, now I've had a little time to process all this: What's River's opinion on this? Did she already know?

Depends when it takes place in her timeline I guess, theoretically it could be the last thing that happens in her life before the library or it could be the next thing after the hitler episode and she knows how everything goes wrong (or right depending on how the last episode is)

Hopefully we will find out either way.

Rory really is the best character right now. He's the antithesis of every problem I have with Amy, River, and the Doctor at the moment. He's grounded where they're deliberately quirky and occasionally manic, he's emotionally mature where they're often emotionally glib, he's insightful and reflective where River and Amy seem shallow (my favorite Rory line is "you're turning me into you!") and he knows what he wants. River doesn't know what she wants. Amy doesn't know what she wants. The Doctor certainly doesn't know what the fuck he wants. Rory does.

I say this having not actually seen Pond life yet, just reading the spoilers. I'm going to watch them all when I get home tonight.

First BatGAF, now Doctor Who. Kill, I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship.

I can't believe it's tomorrow night. It's only the second time I get to watch an episode as it airs. After discovering the awesomeness of the show thanks to the guy my persona is created after in my avatar, I have watched the entire New Who a few times and have even gotten my mom addicted. Plus Verizon heard our cries and now gave us BBC America HD. I am soooo excite. Soooo excite.

I've been staying out of this thread so I had no idea about the Pond Life shorts until today. I'm so ready for tomorrow.

Pond Life get you down? Here's a video from The Nerdist with Chris Hardwick, Wil Wheaton, and a couple others playing bowling against Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill and Steven Moffat. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQfvLpfXe2U

Lol classic, Moffat seems like such an ass and Smith was so butthurt haha The part where Chris said we got a sneak peak of what the behind the scenes stuff is was so true.

Thanks for this. Hilarious stuff.

I don't believe for a minute that Karen hasn't ever bowled either. That's some serious beginners' luck. lol

Yup, you can definitely see the luck wear down towards the end. Fucking bowling man.

Daily Mirror is a tabloid rag, don't pay attention to it.

I'm well aware. Just thought it was amusing.

In an interview he told how it would be impossible to stay in the role for seven years like Tom Baker did in the 70s, with the extra pressure today’s high-octane episodes bring.

Matt, who started in 2009, added: “I don’t think you can sustain it. Tom Baker did it in different circumstances.

"I couldn’t do this for seven years. I’d be run into the ground. I don’t think you can sustain it.

“And your life outside of it is ... I don’t know. I hope I don’t sound too pessimistic.

"It’s just I don’t think my body or my life or the people around me could sustain it.”

Quotes taken out of context, as expected.

Some BBC guy on twitter has apparently already denied the news, the quotes seem typically Daily mail though.

Less than 24 hours remaining (for BBC America). Better go into media blackout after the UK airing.

Since I have to wait until Tuesday, I shall take my leave from this thread. I hope you all enjoy the wibbly wobbly Moffat goodness you shall receive tomorrow.

Lucky bastards...

Watching The Big Bang at the moment. I think it's my favorite of the series finales. Just love everything about it. The emotion, the plot, everything. Really great stuff.

I've been having my little 10 year old sister go through Matt Smith's run as her first doctor. She. Is. LOVING IT. Though I am just taking her through the story arc episodes. Right now we just finished Let's Kill Hitler, so I'm hoping to power through God Complex, Closing Time, then the Wedding of River Song.

By the way, her ten year old mind couldn't contain the River plot twist in A Good Man Goes to War.

By the by the way, no one has still explained to me when the photo of Amy and her baby was taken. I mean, it had her smiling and I have a hard time thinking she would smile for the camera from the silence.

My favorite finale as well. What I love the most was just how crazy they went with the wibbly wobbly timey wimey in it. Let's go down some other awesomeness from that episode:
-Rory goes from "What the hell is this guy doing with Amy?!" to "This man waited 2000 years for her and never left her side. He has a free pass for life and is the greatest man to walk to Earth."
-"I wear a fez now. Fezzes are cool."
-A Dalek begs for mercy. Because it knew who River's father was... :)
-Did I mention the crazy wibbly wobbly timey wimey? Because I eat it up every single time I watch it.

The hell? BBC America edited "A Christmas Carol" (probably to include more commercials). I noticed the psychic paper joke was gone. At least On Demand has it up for now.

WHA!? That is one of the highlights of the episode.

I do hope that we get limited commercial interruption for the new episodes. A good example of commercials messing with an episode is "A Good Man Goes to War". One instance, the scene where the Headless Monks decapitate the fat soldier and it cuts away by showing a shutter closing, they insert a commercial between the scenes ruining the "joke".
Another instance, the scene where the Headless Monks attack the Doctor's little army as he runs to tell Amy the truth about her daughter, the entire scene is sped up like Benny Hill. It's really jarring.

I'm forgoing the live broadcast for next day iTunes delivery. No commercials, no worries.
That reminds me: are the iTunes versions the BBCA versions, or original British versions? This is the first time I bought Doctor Who on iTunes, so I wonder which edit they are using.

Why does no one ever answer my question about Amy's picture?! I feel like this is some sort of running joke at this point that I'm not in on.

Was she smiling for the Silence? I remember her looking down at Melody in that shot, so maybe someone just snapped the shot at the moment Amy got Melody back and was simply happy and talking to her.
