Does Uncharted have the shittiest highest Difficulty setting ever?

JokerMM

Gay porn is where it's at.
I just got the platinum for lost legacy and it requires you to Complete the game on crushing Difficulty, and holy fucking shit this was a pain the fucking asshole
Enemies spotting you 10 miles away
Covering does jackshit because they can shoot through walls
One shot killing
Also is it just me or the controls become wanky as shit later on?

I've finished all UC games on crushing. There are a few tough sections, but they are mostly fine. If you're having too much trouble you can always enable the in-game cheats giving you powerful weapons and infinite ammo.

Any game that doesn't actually tweak it's AI, change enemy attacks/patterns or anything new and requiring work sucks.

Nothing shittier than difficulty based on increasing enemy health and damage and decreasing the player's and saying IT'S HARD LOL.

Perfect Dark OG still has the coolest difficulty settings by my standard.

high difficulty modes that make you use less of game mechanics are not great.
You put uc4 onc rushing and you die the moment you try to rope swing punch someone :P

I have to agree, the fun of Unchated's combat is combination shooting and melee but all of that goes out the window in crushing difficulty because you die super fast as soon as you try to get out of the cover.

This one of the few series that in higher difficulty the game become less fun.

I think only first uncharted has a fair number of straight up bullshit and unfair encounters, like that glorious water room in ch.5. Other games are mostly fine, can be difficult at times but nothing brutal.

CoD World at War comes to mind.

God this is giving me Vietnam war flashbacks right here. Fucking Heart of Reich. So. Many. Goddamn. Grenades. This game is still the definition of bullshit difficulty.

The uncharted games suck ass on higher difficulties, but nowhere near World at War.

you do know that you can enable cheats in the crushing mode right?

Just enable a silenced pistol and a sniper rile and cruise through the game. It's a lot more enjoyable.

I also liked bullet time mode when aiming down sights, but that feels like cheating and boring. I just stuck with the best AR, best pistol and best sniper rifle and had no issues. The problem is that the game gives you the shittiest weapons with the worst handling and stats. Equip the golden AR and a silenced pistol for stealth encounters, and make the game fair without enabling 1 shot kill cheats or bullet time.

Crushing difficulty was a lot harder on the PS3 Uncharted games. There were some rooms that were virtually impossible.

I find the last 3-4 chapters of Uncharted 1-2-3 BRUTALLY difficult on Normal, let alone higher difficulties. I don't know how people do it.

I remember the water room early on in the first game. I only got past it on PS3 cause I remember there being a glitch thst you could use to spawn the enemies in before you jump down.

I didn't think it was that bad. Were there annoying parts, sure, but with a little planning and a little bit of luck, it's perfectly achievable. Currently, the crushing trophy sits at 3.3%, which is higher than I would have guessed actually.

I feel it's like that for all their games including TLoU. Well tuned for fun on normal but above that it's a bad mix of challenge and AI cheese.

I disagree on TLOU, I played that game on survival difficulty and it was pretty damn fun. The game is less about shooting everything and more about surviving with little tools and bullets you have which makes the encounters much more intense in my opinion.

Yeah I've never really enjoyed the difficulties above Hard in Naughty Dog games. Always feels like it becomes all about trial and error, cheesing encounters and only using the most effective tool instead of a fun mix of all them.

Some people like it though. Have this friend who loves playing all games in the uber hard mode. But then he never plays souls games because he says they are too hard and frustrating. Never really got that.

I completed the first 3 games on crushing and had a good time. I don't think it's the most fun way to play, but the checkpoints are very reasonable. It's a frantic arcade experience.

If you think that's bad, try completing Brutal mode in the Bluepoint remasters.
Done all of them 100% (not just platinum) on my old PSN profile. Really isn't that bad. Just use your 3rd person shoulder view when hugging a corner and win.

I hate the bullet sponge enemies in all
UC games.
Are they even worse on the highest difficulty?

Highest difficulty Uncharted is basically dying as soon as the enemy encounter happens, trial and erroring it until you memorize the exact placement of every opponent on the map, and then praying that the small element of luck works in your favor, because even after memorizing the layout, you'll still occasionally (read: all the time) get shot in the face.

Yeah same here ffs, I can't aim or shoot for shit with a joypad even after years of playing, watching guys play this and TLOU2 on high difficulty and getting head shots with every shot just fucking amazes me and all of it whilst running, jumping and dodging like a fucking monkey

I got platinum on all all uncharted games. And I think it's fair to say 1-3 are challenging on crushing (especially the first one). But with some trial and error it's still doable.

Uncharted 4 is just a pain in the ass.
Numerous enemies
1 hit kills
Million grenades being tossed at you the instant you hide behind a boulder
Bullet sponges

It's more cheap difficulty than hard difficulty. It takes all the fun out of the challenge. You basically have to get lucky that the enemies screw up.

U4 needs to be done on easy mode and turn on cheats for crushing mode. That Boat Graveyard on crushing still haunts me.

I tend to agree. I played U1-3 via the Collection on PS4 and enjoyed pretty much all of it. U4 was just a chore. The game itself didn't grab me, but the tedious and uninteresting implementation of "difficult" basically meant that I'd never bother to replay.

Thers a little difficulty setting on the Pathfinder series called unfair or as I like to call it, every frame counts.

It's a shit series in general.

The one Sony game whose appeal I never understood despite owning the PS3 trilogy.

I mean, I agree that it's not really a super in depth or complicated game. There's no real draw in the gameplay or anything super in depth or intuitive to chew on. It's basic climbing, basic puzzles, basic combat (this gets slightly better through the series) and rather linear level design.

Where it excels is the presentation. All the elements come together and the intertwining of seven different simple things creates the illusion of complexity. And similar to pop music or popcorn flicks, It DOES require talent to create something mainstream, something that's catchy, appealing, and casts a wide enough net that people from multiple different interests are enticed.

Naughty Dog has always been aces when it comes to tying up all their design philosophies into something that feels polished as fuck.

With all that said, I only really like Uncharted 2 and 4, and the opening segments of 3. The Last of Us, Part I is great and I'm gonna buy it 47 times, see my post history. But that's that yo'.

Wish I could give this a thousand likes. Artificial difficulty.

Just you wait until you try Brutal mode.

It is clear Naughty Dog doesn't understand balancing as the games are clearly not designed for it. Its an exercise in frustration from start to finish.

I guess I should feel really good about beating all those games on crushing! lol

As amazing as Uncharted games are, I have to agree that they become quite horrible experiences on higher difficulties. These games are meant to be played on normal difficulty.

You guys are puss puss playing on Crushing. Try playing on Brutal on the original 3 for the remastered version. 2 shots and you're dead. It gives it a very realistic tone to the game to have patience, use the environment to the best of your abilities and to be cautious, almost like in real life.

UC1 remains the hardest of the platinums still. 2 and 3 are a joke. But that Brutal from UC1 in the Airplane Crash, Circle Room and the Blue Room.... well, I still did it... but... *pulls out hair*.

Also, you're doing UC4 Crushing wrong. It's the easiest Crushing of them all. Get Infinite OP weapons and the Slow Motion perk and watch the magic.

Akumu mode in evil within is pretty bad, 1 hit kills no matter what,
Enemy wiggles on the ground dead, 10 ftvaway from an explosion dead, accidentally touch something on fire , dead
Earth defense force has some great higher difficulties as it changes from twitchy blow up everything to using careful planning(careful target prioritization, planning attack routes) and novel approaches and weapon usage

Agree, Im a veteran of the franchise you can check my trophy profile, most cods on vet and UC on crushing, for me it's all about stealth, watching and memorizing enemies movement patterns and occasionally suppressor shots to the dome!😎😂

But you can activate the cheats without affecting the platinum. I used infinite ammo and bullet time and it was really fun.

Very nice, respect. Yeah it's totally doable but much tougher than any of the Crushing difficulties.

I went through Brutal mode for Uncharted 3 remastered

VeVuq7w.jpg

I remember there were a couple chapters in particular where you couldnt just hide behind cover. The chapter where you have to swim in the water while the enemies are on boats and storage containers.

Also the chapter where you're hanging and you have to shoot upwards to pick off a group of enemies while covering behind a peg sticking out of the wall. If they shoot you once you're dead and on brutal you have to get multiple headshots to take out 1. And there's like 5 of them shooting at once.

Way tougher than anything I experienced on crushing, but it felt good to complete it.

Disagree. I beat all 3 of the PS3 Uncharted games in Crushing. Once that difficulty "clicks" the game becomes a lot of fun.

In lower difficulties you can just hang out with whatever weapons you want at any time. But in Crushing, I quickly figured out that you must ALWAYS have both a high-powered/low ammo weapon (shotgun, revolver/magnum, etc) to use for when enemies rush you; and a low-powered/high ammo weapon to pick enemies off at a distance. Having a power weapon is critical because (at least in my experience) enemies in Crushing are very aggressive and will close in on you very quickly, so you need something to quickly one-shot them. And since they have more health on Crushing, the low powered weapons (pistol, machine gun, etc) aren't powerful enough to one shot-them unless you get headshots in every time, which at least for me it's not possible given how quickly enemies close in on you.

I got the Platinum for all 3 games when they were re-released on PS4. A lot of fun... Well, except that one section in Uncharted 3 where Drake is having the hallucination in the desert and the enemies are more monster-like (less "human"). That section can fuck right off 😂

Lost Legacy was nothing. Try playing UC4 on Crushing. One chapter near the end was almost impossible.
