True you were mostly destroying building and man made stuff and I remember the physic was little wanky when you see a building still standing with just tiny pillar.

I'm still at the level from the treehouse demo and I am sure you could already spend hours there. There's so much to collect. Coins, gold, balloons, fossils, treasures oh and bananas :p
Yeah, this game is going to take many, many hours.

Oh, framerate is not great if you look at the (highly detailed) 3D map

Nope. It's not a simultaneous global release. It's still listed as preorder on the page and when I tried to play it, it did a check and said I can't play it yet. I still have 2h40min to go here in the US.

This is going to sound like a dumb complaint, and it's early obviously, but the game is almost…too chaotic? I feel like I'm not doing any real platforming or exploring, just spamming punch and crawling along as I smash everything.

I'm a fair bit into the 2nd area and I know what you mean. I've found (so far) the main open layers are more about exploring through pure smashing and climbing, there is platforming but it's minimal. There is more traditional "platforming" contained in those puzzle rooms you go into. I assume this all ramps up the deeper we get.
 
Also just a tip since I just noticed this, if you go to the Map and go to Smashin Stats - you can get a bunch of gold and stuff for the games' little in-game achievement system thing.
 
Just starting. Camera is bad, I sometimes don't see DK at all, just rocks.

I do like the smashing, and getting all the gold. I kinda want to smash everything to the core. So that's fun. Really early so I'm pretty sure it'll change as progress.
 
Looking forward to picking up my copy tomorrow. For all first party games, or games that I feel like my kids would like, I'll get the physical copy.
 
Played about an hour and I'm really loving being able to smash tunnels through everything. The camera can certainly get weird, but nothing too egregious.
