Doom (2016) PC performance thread

Have you reached the foundry level? I've just got there and my performance has gone from super smooth to shit the bed poor. Feels like 30fps.

Wtf

Yeah, I stopped playing after the Argent Tower level last night. Didn't notice any performance issues at all.

FWIW, my CPU is a i7-4790K and my 970 is OC'd @ +185 core / +350 memory.

i5 3570k OC'ed to 4.3
R9 290 4GB
1440p monitor
16 GB of RAM

The only way I can get close to stable 60 FPS is on low settings, which actually still look pretty decent but I feel like I should be able to go a bit higher. On high settings and ultra with shadows turned down I am between 20-40 FPS

Is that normal? I feel like somethings wrong.

Not sure if this is the best place to ask, but anywhere have a code for purchase at a good price? I heard CD Keys, but is the codes they sell Steam redeemable? Any other outlets that have it for a good price and redeemable on Steam?

cdkeys.com and yes they are, will be instant.

out of all AA options given by the game which one is the better one?

TSSAA with sharpening adjustments to suit your taste seems to be the best for me.

Obviously DSR is going to be the /best/ option, but I doubt anyone has the horsepower to maintain super high framerates and downsample from 4k or something.

So, a friend gifted me a copy of the game and I downloaded the latest Nvidia game-ready driver. what settings do you reckon I should run the game on competently with this setup?

GPU: GeForce GTX 680
CPU: Intel Core i7-3930K CPU @ 3.20GHz
Memory: 16GB RAM
Monitor: BenQ 1920x1080, 60Hz
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

I have a sneaking suspicion this game is going to tank my system baaaaad!

How do you think this would play on a HD 7970? My 780 shit the bed, can't find any good benchmarks online for high/medium performance for the 7970. So, ps4 or PC? Bearing in mind I'd prefer m/KB.
Oh and CPU is 3570k.

Even if it means you have to turn a lot of settings down (I doubt it), get the PC version if you prefer kb/m. This game is glorious on kb/m, it plays so well - you can be so quick, agile and accurate with it, that I feel if you do prefer kb/m and you don't play it that way, then it'd be a great shame.

AFAIK the 280x is just the 7970 rebranded so you'd be better looking for that. In terms of how it runs I think it'd do reasonably well. Mediumish settings at least, quite possibly mostly high.

So I want to buy this tomorrow, but I have a r9 390 and im worried about performance issues. Ontop of that I don't want to pay 79.99$ for the ps4 version when the pc version is available for 49.99$. what am I to do?

Just purchased from cdkeys, thanks ya'll.

We have an almost identical set up!

Let me know how you get on please? Had a quick play around the day of release but won't be touching the game properly until after my exams.

:)

PC version on CD keys?

Also, a 390 soon enough with Vulkan or proper settings (i.e. medium) / and AMD driver will blow the console version out of the water. It is not even a choice.

Yeah on cdkeys, my mistake but it's actually 51.99$ Canadian on cdkeys lol. But yeah it's much cheaper then the ps4 option. Is it really that bad with a r9 390 at this point? Playable at least?

Bad news skip, so far it's been incredibely dodgy! Dips erratically from 60 fps to 30fps and sometimes a bit below in indoor environments, the first outdoor environment ran totally fine for the most part though. And this is with settings on medium AND low.

Looks like this setup isn't enough to get it to run properly.

EDIT: Although running the performance tool it seems like the game is using 4GB of VRAM. Is that decent?

I just had a weird issue - died and left it at the loading screen as i stepped away for 15 minutes or so, when i came back the game was running at 20fps. Was getting around 90 before..

Running on a 970/i5 3.6ghtz and I'm getting stutters. Most stuff is set to medium and I have no clue as to why :/ oddly it was buttery smooth in the first few levels.

So I seem to be just below the minimum with my FX-6350 and 750 ti. Is it possible that I could eke out 30 fps at 720p on low settings?

Man, the more I see of this game, the more I want to play it. But I'm not sure my GTX 680 is up to the task, especially at 1440p (thoughts?). On the plus side, I've got G-sync to help smooth it out under 60.

Are there any settings that are known to impact performance more, the ones to turn down first to get some fps back?

Is it sure that G-Sync works with DOOM? Because FreeSync doesn't. =((((((((

2500k @ 4.5 GHz
24 GB RAM
Radeon 7970
@ medium setting
= 40-50 fps with low drops to 30 occasionally

Guess I'll have to upgrade mah shit soon damn it!!

Then your cpu is limiting the frame rate to 90-120fps.
I imagine everyone is CPU limited if they are going for 120 hz... any pc almost.
Yeah, if you use the in game performance metrics (which are amazing btw), you can see where your frame limits are coming from. 90% of the time I am CPU limited, check out this video for example and look @ the CPU times and ms graph (it is red or dark orange the entire time, causing all my dips).

How is it fairng on your card btw?

Stay away from the PC version if you're on AMD.

Any impressions with a 980TI/6700K playing at 2560X1440?

I have those plus 8GB RAM and and SSD. Settings are on Nightmare and the resolution is 2560X1440. 95 percent of the time it runs at 60 fps. When there are 15 plus demons and explosions all over the place, sometimes the fps drops to low 40's.

Game run just fine but I got few issues:

1. Sometime it will suddenly stutter like hell (no pun intended) I have to wait till it get better
2. Random CTD since mission 4
3. it stop loading sometime at like 80% I have to hit CTRL-ALT-DEL key and then get back into the game to "unfreeze" the loading

I think I'm gonna wait a few patches I want to enjoy the game without any issues.

My system :

W7
16 gb of ram
I7 2600k
Geforce 970
