Doom 3 for PS3?

In a maintenance granted to the American magazine Game To inform, John Carmack considers the project of a Super Edition of credible Doom 3, for PlayStation 3. It is only one project for the moment, but id Software would like to carry out a title for the console.

Better german translation

to an interview with the American Game Informer John Carmack said of ID software that one considers manufacturing a kind ' super edition ' from Doom 3 for the PlayStation3. It is only one idea, but one for the PS3 gladly would such a thing make (thanks at buddy40).

Of course he'd like that. Considering the way NVIDIA cards perform in DOOM3, and considering that RSX > ***, it would be easy money for Carmack and co. I bet they wouldn't even bother using SPEs.

I'd better leave this thread before I say something ugly and inappropriate.

Heh, cant say I didnt have the same thoughts. iD publishing sloppy seconds (thirds?) on a Playstation platform wouldn't surprise me in the least.

Not intrested Id.

Unless they were go with the original Doom forumla (i.e. killing spree) level designs along with D3+ graphics.

Now THAT... would be worth while.

Makes sense, if they're doing the port themselves. They're a team of less than 30, and Carmack considers PS3 a pain in the ass to develop for - so cutting their teeth with something like this, finding their feet with the system, and making money in the process would seem smart.

interesting that neither of the translations say that Carmack is interested in "making" Doom 3 (or any other similar word), but "manufacturing" or something else. I'm willing to bet that means he'd be "willing" to let some developer (like Gearbox in the old days) port it for them so they could make boatloads of cash with virtually no effort.

"One idea we've been sort of tossing around that is just a random idea is possibly doing some kind of super edition of the Doom 3 stuff for the PS3.

"It's something that we'd kind of like to do,"

I just can't imagine why they would bother with this...

The game DOES still look really nice in motion (720p + 60 fps looks really impressive), but it will seem rather dated if they were to release it later next year or something.

I'm very curious to see how the Quake 4 port turns out on X360. Hopefully it runs at a rock solid 60 fps. It may end up looking decent if it does...

Quake IV on X360 looks really bad, very pixilated. Check out these vids from the X360 version

check out official movie 1, 2 and 3

I think the capturing card might be broken or something :\

Hmm... I never bothered getting the PC or Xbox version, but I am planning on getting a PlayStation 3, so hopefully this is true and I can just wait for the "definitive" version. :)

I totally don't see what you are talking about.

Those videos ran perfectly smooth. It isn't impressive looking at all, but it was running smoothly.

OK, nevermind...

Watched the other vid (single player) and it was nowhere near as smooth and you could see moments when it WAS running smoothly. Slowdown!? I'm expecting a solid 60 fps here, not "30-ish"...

You have to download the high res version to see what I am talking about. Do you have GScomplete?

Yes, I have complete. See above.

The actual trailer was even worse. >_<
