DOOM: The Dark Ages - Cosmic Realm First Reveal Trailer

ID engine pushes the boundaries everytime and the FPS while doing so is second to none, I question Halo or any Microsoft titles using UE when ID exists in house.

I understand out sourcing but they should be pushing this engine hard.
Runs like a champ as well. Males no sense.
Can't wait to stutter my way around a Halo ring

The music is so aggressively generic and stupid, it legit sounds like AI but some retarded back alley AI maintained by Morpheus after a 30 year crack binge.

What if I told you this is Metal....

No. Stop.

I guess there's only so much of hell they can mess with. Take it to the Lovecraft level. Sounds awesome if we are fighting Cthulhu. Already preordered this months ago. They need to do the dukes of hell.

I'm probably in the minority when I say I've never been the fan of the type of "metal" in the new DOOM games. The guitar tone is so close to djent/prog that it automatically turns me off.

I never quite understood the obsession with Mick personally. I feel like the best parts of music he wrote were riffs that stood out or were memorable, not just mindless chug. But I feel like so much of the soundtracks ARE just mindless chugs be it with Mick and otherwise.

I honestly wish they would've gone with a different tone that sounded less djent-y or progg-y and more so thrash-y and more raw. I understand the want to include technical/futuristic sounding elements to fit the aesthetic and tone, but I feel like it could've been done in a more tasteful manner. It's just hard to not want to associate majority of the music with stuff that sounds dirtier, grittier, raw, etc. Rather than more so heavy with the beeps and boops. I mean, the original OSTs contained blatant rips from Alice in Chains, Metallica, Pantera, and more.

I know there may only be two of us but Mick Gordon's soundtracks to me are like a grade school teacher's idea of Metal after seeing a handful of memes. Half of it consists of random DSHDSH djent-ing in Drop-Ass tuning chopped up over Skrillex with double bass. It was atrocious in Eternal.

I still liked PS1 Doom with the creepy-ass Aubrey Hodges soundtrack the best, hands down. Them going full meme self-parody with the reboot series has been a real bummer.

Can't say I'm a fan either of turning Doomguy into someone craving demon demon guts from the nameless space marine fighting for his survival and that of mankind.

This whole story build-up that he was always a demigod didn't really do much for me either. But as long as the combat and levels are fun I can easily overlook it. :messenger_winking_tongue:

I enjoy D2016 fine yea. It's not a dealbreaker whwn the gameplay is solid like you said, that's for sure. And Eternal is a really well-designed game in many ways and I get why people love it. I'm just not into its whole self-parody "fuck it lol" aesthetic myself.

The models and textures are amazing, especially with the part where there is a guy with "Staff" on it, looks super real, probably day one (as I did for Eternal and 2016)

First cinematic trailer had me so fucking hyped but the gameplay trailers that followed were a big let down.

The big open area's with 3 different objectives and a UI cluttered with a bunch of quest markers does not feel really Doom to me, nor really appealing in general. Music sounds very generic too, nothing truly adrenaline-pumping.

Also not sure how I feel about these differently colored ''Hey hit me for something cool!'' projectiles. Just seems like a lazy way to force people into doing specific actions at the cost of gameplay fluidity. Something basic as being able to parry projectiles should've been an intrinsic part of the gameplay loop imo.

Personally wish they would have expanded on both 2016 and Eternal and created a kickass middle ground between the two. This will likely be my least favorite Doom game but I'll still have some fun with it probably.

Hopefully the Stroggs from Quake 4 would become the main enemies after Doom Guy destroys all the demons.

The Stroggs could have conquered countless planets and be an even bigger threat than the demons.

So after Doom Guy kicks the lovecraftian and demonic asses, he'll go after the most powerful alien races.
