The clowniest first minute of a game I have ever seen

I chock this up partially to me managing not to panic when this happened, but also to the mistakes of the other team.

I remember I was learning Ember a while back and yarden24 gave me what was probably the best advice for it: Ember has odd "peaks". Early game he can be pretty strong, and being aggressive with him can pay off, mid game though you have to back off and farm, or you will get punished for it. Then late game you get to become a monster again.

So basically I would consider Ember's effectiveness over time to be like two bell curves with a trench in the middle.

Yeah, that is good advice, I definitely felt that.
Not sure it is a hero I will regularly choose. But if I random, at least I wont be scared away from him.

Anyone got any tips for climbing mmr past 3.4? I'm fluctuating 3.2-3.4....mostly playing support or hard carry.

P.S. anyone got a shadow demon set I can trade for? Hes my go-to support, so much fun!

Find heroes you like, your most played ones. Watch replays of top players on DB playing them ('cept for techies, since most of them actually use a hack). Watch them analytically, asking why they do everything they do. Spam said heroes. Should help you get a better understanding of the game, since you don't have to learn the heroes and can focus on learning the game as a whole.

It's just very weird when the best way to deal with a range hero is to stay the fuck out of its melee range and pubbies can't handle it.

Yeah its really easy to avoid. I went mid early vs a Viper and destroyed him because he basically came into melee range and he though he did more damage. Bizarre.

Watch them analytically, asking why they do everything they do. Spam said heroes. Should help you get a better understanding of the game, since you don't have to learn the heroes and can focus on learning the game as a whole.

Hey, how do I watch replays on dotabuff? Do i need an account? i managed to go to a #1 shadow demon game, but dont see any way to download a replay to watch

Find the match id on the page, go into dota, watch > recent > enter match ID. Note: games older than a week won't work.

Well done. Congratulations. But him casting is not my point. Its him as a presenter. I will be impressed if he goes into TI with the ability to talk about the game's current meta on the same level as James would with the other on screen talent.

Yeah it's painful coaching these games sometimes. Also my friend could not figure out how to get items on the courier and to him for 30 minutes. Just press the deliver items button and move on.

I understand why crystalis/BF is bad on PA but what's the negative of battlefury on lycan? is it because he has wolves, or? I dont recall him having a cleave

of course i think there's better choices for him but it doesn't seem like it's on the same level as a pa getting crit

I'm no expert but it takes up a slot that could be used for an item that syncs better for him.
He doesn't get too much benefit from it because he can farm effectively without it, has no game changing passives that work incredibly with it (you could count his wolf form crits, but even then thats highly situational.)

The stats don't do much either.

Getting butterfly on PA is not necessarily a bad idea. Because of the way evasion scales, the more of it you get the better. Each butterfly you buy gives more effective hp than the last (of course you'll still lose all of it if the enemy has an an mkb).

I think Dotapit is pretty much a prime example for why teams should never be given power of their schedule for a tournament. Honestly should have forced the teams to play months ago

But really who is the villain of this piece? EG for their last minute delay, Secret for having other commitments that mean they don't want to play this close to TI5, or DotaPit for being pussies?

Don't run your online tourney during the summer season - TI5 and other LAN events are more important to teams than you.
