Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Why is NeoGAF matchmaking putting me in the same thread as you scrublords?

It makes a lot of sense for a competitive game to accentuate the discrepancy of levels between teams. If a team is better than another, the better team should win, and if decisively better, it should be a stomp.

Imagine another sport in which a pro team meets a team of amateurs and cannot show an utter domination.

If I understood correctly, better drafts resulted in better domination in The Summit games, in which case it is all good.

AM has a 44% winrate in 6.84 pubs vs 43% in 6.83 pubs, and a 60% winrate in 6.84 pro games(only 15 game sample size though) vs ~44% in 6.83. I think hard carries are fine.

He's picked in less than ten percent of pub games though. I don't see how the hero can be very good this patch.

Problem is that NoT is probably top 30 team world, not amateur, but this game is extremely biased over little advantage that accumulate over time, and always has been. Whereas in normal sports points taken earlier on are worth the same as point taken at the last minute, this isn't true in dota because advantages make for more advantages. We need socialism dota 6.83 back, but worse highground. The problem with 6.83 wasn't the comeback, was the fact that 10k gold advantages at 30 min where nowhere enough to break an absurdly strong highground advantage where half ur attack miss and u have 20% of the vision the enemy team has. Way larger ramps entrances, troll nerfs , and some buffs to good hg pushers (pugna, Rastha, Jakiro, sniper with old shrapnel etc...) would have drastically reduced the amount of drag around lategame hg pushes without killing the comeback potential. Instead of nerfing the amount of gold advantage u need to push hg, icefraud decided to massively increase the snowball gold so u can take 10k gold advantages easily at 15 mins instead of 30 mins when you're ahead. Good Fuckin Gaem

This post was hidden from you because the original poster's euro MMR was too inflated.

hard carries are fine, am isn't (and wasn't in 6.83 too).

he used to be one of my most played heroes, but i can't see a reason to pick him now. I played one game with him this patch (won split pushing everything) but i'd rather pick spectre everytime.

Greece 2004.

Alliance were Greece. Like I said over and over.

I'm secretly hoping that an Open Qualifier team makes it far in TI5. That would be a really cool story. Probably not likely, though.
I think you're assuming that the teams getting through open qualifiers will have 5 players that nobody has ever heard of, but that probably won't be the case. For example, Vanskor's team is very likely to win Europe's open qualifiers and I'm sure other big names will be participating in open quals. Too much has to go well for a team of nobodys to get so far.

We're not seeing amateurs vs pros though, we're seeing two pro teams.

This is like Man City playing Arsenal and beating them 32-3 just because they're a little bit better or they played the right strategy.

I prefer this style of casting so much more than listening to play-by-play. I want a TI reward tier for a pro-players-only cast.

It's so much more insightful. These players have played so much and played each other so much that they know what is going on and they do a surprisingly good job at explaining why stuff is happening.

Seriously. Pro-casters are sooooo good, i don't care about the lack of hype, the insight is much more entertaining, especially from a panel of 2-3 pros.
