Someone really needs to go in there and clean it up a bit. A Wiki should avoid sentences starting with "And anyways" and "Now back to the point." I'd do it myself, but I've been sick with food poisoning for a whole week, and there's probably people out there who'd do a better job.

Yeah, that's true, but I think it's brand new, so I'm kinda impressed with the amount of info

Because two way communication is better than radio silence.

Valve, in general, sucks at letting people know what's up.
I would agree. I'm just saying it would be a message board posting saying "no patch this week we're busy". I'll find a way to live without that.

Like I said total shit show that game. With Keeper he could have harassed the shit out of those melee heroes.

At least he was insulting Venge. Oh wait.

I genuinly thought we had a chance once we got the correct farm. They were all single target heroes, so PL could have wre ked them all and I could have doomed rubick.
Fate wasn't on our side.

I received a Steam invite for DOTA 2 from a friend.

What is DOTA2?

Is it fun?

How do I play it?

Is it complicated? Steep learning curve?

Any bullshit I should be aware of?

Dota 2 is kind of like an RTS game like StarCraft except you control a single "hero" from among an enormous cast of colorful and wacky characters with diverse abilites. One guy can summon a black hole. Another can teleport anywhere on the map. There's a two headed dragon who can breath both ice and fire.

There are a lot of guides on how to play, some of them in the OP

Its incredibly complicated and has a huge learning curve. But once you get into it it is one of the most immensely satisfying games ever created.

Bullshit: people are assholes online, especially in the lower brackets where you'll start. Like, call you a faggot for making one mistake assholes.

it's probably the most well designed game of all time, but if you dont have thick skin + open mind + dilligent attitude + patience of a saint, i honestly wouldn't bother

A dota/moba game that is non persistent, 5 v 5 team based, with rts and rpg elements. You usually control one unit that levels up to enhance his skill set.

It can be fun, but it is mostly addictive.

Learning through playing or watching videos. Having your friend try to teach you is usually more painful.

It has a high skill cap but it isn't that hard to learn.

Nyx is bullshit, Troll Warlord is bullshit.

So I'm not able to watch these games today (the early ones anyway) but are these
Eastern teams just on another skill level, or is it just a different type/style of play?

In other words; does the West even stand a chance?

No. I will be very surprised if the east doesn't take the wildcard spot.

Eastern teams in general are a step above western teams.. The difference comes from the fact that eastern pro teams actually sponsor their players like it's a job whereas western teams in comparison have just really good enthusiast players.
