He got permed for calling overweight people sub-humans and then telling people who disagreed with him to fuck off over the course of the entire thread (while also having four previous bans).

Devolution had nothing to do with it.

He called people who were overweight and didn't want to do anything to change subhumans and rationally defended his position against the hivemind. It's not as if he said all fat people are sub human and deserved no respect. He told one person to "fuck off" because they made a generalization about him combined with personal insult (out of ~30 posts). People even brought in meta-thread discussion on him and tried to used it as a platform against him, but he held firm. His posting history didn't do him any favors.

And let's be honest, quoting devo and disagreeing is never a good idea.
please dont ban me for thread meta oh god

I don't know what this game does to people. One of my friends likes to watch tournaments, and even if he is a beginner he acts as our tactician. Other of my friends is a veteran, with more than 600 games (most of my friends have 100).
Every time the veteran and the tactician get into heated arguments, where it usually ends as "you are a noob" and "even with +500h you have no idea". It begins with a humble request/advice from the tactician.
The veteran decided not to play with any of us anymore (though he only gets angry with the tactician) and play solo queue. He did this for two weeks, until I convinced him to come to a 5 man stack. The tactician was there... It ended in shouts and a statement of not playing again. So I lost my 2nd most common dota 2 buddy.

Did I mention they have been friends for more than 20 years?

Real life friends and Dota is tricky business.

I find it a bit funny that Venomancer's Poison Sting isn't an Orb, but Sand King's Caustic Finale is.

Also, the slow of Poison Sting goes though magic immunity.

Wait so you can't get like a Deso on SK or it won't work? I never considered it, but wow that's weird.

Is this 'tactician' guy any good though? You can pretend to know how to play like at the competitive level but being able to execute it is way different... What usually starts the heated arguments?

How is it fun though? Pitiful 4% slow and laughable damage for 275 gold? Maybe I am missing something.

Apparently.

It's fun to stack poison effects. Having fun with dota isn't just attempting to play at the absolute maximum for gold efficiency.

I've seen SnY Jugg before but I'm not actually sure what it's good for. If I build a Yasha I'm normally upgrading it into a Manta.

S&Y jugg is fine, but not with battlefury. If you get battlefury you should be farming big items, not S&Y

been a rough few days :/

Less All Pick more RD.
All pick is the worst mode in this game and it seems to bring out more of the "I don't give a fuck about the team/line up, I pick whoever I want"-people

And maybe join some GAF stacks on the GAF channel.

He said obese people were worse people then pedo's.

Radiance is a terrible item and anyone who wants to build it has a better alternative.

Only sub-humans get radiance!

best thing i've ever seen

Better then this play by Nilay? @ 1.40, Riki.

hard to get GAF stacks for aus servers. and my IRL friends that play are frustratingly bad, which is saying a lot since im pretty mediocre myself.

I can't believe how much a 1.99 brown horse for Keeper would be this cool.

I don't know why, but imo Keeper's model is greatly improved with a brown horse. It adds some better color contrast on him, and matches his secondary color (gold), rather than his primary color (white)

Also why is the brown horse the only mount in the entire game that isn't Mythical or better?

They needed a gateway drug.

His execution is not really good, what you could expect from somebody with 30-40 games and no lol experience. However he's good suggesting counter picks, when to push or back off and making sure everything is warded and we have tps.
Usually arguments follow bad executions, or more usually the tactician saying something about the item build of the veteran or something like "go farm top".
The thing then explodes when the veteran makes a big mistake, like throwing himself in a fight he can't win. This is pretty usual once we are losing and they are arguing. Insults follow and it's gg.
It was not always like this, but often enough.

I know it was once pretty popular on Doom too. It just seems to me that if you have a naturally tanky hero (whether direct like Doom or indirect like PL) and are up against a mostly squishy lineup (mostly int/agi)...and if you can get it fast (<20?) it can pay off pretty well by accelerating your farm and ability to help in team fights sooner. But I haven't seen a radiance bought in a looong time and I think I've only bought it 10 times in 2,000 games...so what do I know.

It's a common misconception that Doom is tanky. At 16 he has 1600 HP but only 2 armor, and his "escape" is waddling away slightly faster. It's why Shiva's is so good on him, 10 armor is huge for him and the mana is very useful and that's before getting into the active and passive.

People get radiance on Doom because he can farm very quickly and the flat damage aura is better the earlier you can get it, and it also synergizes with scorched earth. If you want to be tanky and have a radiance you'll have to farm a bit longer.

If you are a hero like PL you're getting an item that doesn't benefit your illusions, that doesn't scale all that great endgame, that doesn't give you a useful active that lets you gank in the midgame. Doesn't seem worth it unless you're like 15 minutes in and notice you have 3800 gold. Even then that's the price of Diffusal 1 (with a much better buildup than 1 huge item) and boots, or more than the biggest component of a heart.

I know I'm basically agreeing with what you said :p But yeah I don't see Radiance as a useful item on most heroes these days.

Well if you can do a 2-3 minute midas radiance becomes interesting, but late radiance is meh.

spending none of your starting gold seems incredibly dangerous and just doesn't seem worth it. A couple good harass shots and you're force to hug the tower with no regen.
