Dota 2 Beta Thread V: Real Talk Strikes Back [Tutorials]

Okay okay. Some of these still may be more what you consider "themed", but will be more unusual:
Physical Damage Wombo Combo: Medusa, Alchemist (probably run as a support on this team), Battlefury Bounty Hunter. Remaining two can be setup, possibly Elder Titan and/or Dark Seer. Maybe Bristleback or Tree.
Suddenly 5 Heroes: You know what to do with this one. Wisp, Prophet, Lifestealer. Maybe toss in Tusk for some attempted snowball action. KotL and Spectre other choices. Spirit Breaker and Tinker can also work. Maybe more up your alley is just grabbing Beastmaster and have everyone go BoTs to teleport to the hawk. Especially with no TP delay on BoTs.
Bombardment: Tiny, Lifestealer + 3 (Slark?) You only engage by tossing an infested Lifestealer at the target of choice.
Globals Only: You only take kills via global skills, never directly engaging. Prophet, Spectre, and Zeus. AA, Clock, Invoker and Aghs Gyro are your other choices.
That's all I have for now. Are you looking more for specific combos, or laning positions or what? More of clear focus of what you're looking for will help with ideas.

Just beat tutorial 1 (again) and got a lore book.

It rains!, it's a cool custom map that reminds me of WC3, and it even shows how to pull!... though you buy arcane boots on sniper (though they say it's not always the right choice at least)

you get a sniper set from doing like 10 limited pool matches and tutorial I think. It was datamined in last week's patch.

The new Lion face is definitely an improvement. But they could have pretty much done anything to his face and it would have been an improvement, because he looked like shit.

Well you can tell the tutorial is not exactly what you'll see in a real game. Has your Sniper buy Arcane Boots and a courier.

Can't catch a break even when I do play a good support game. Helped a Slardar snowball early top lane as Crystal Maiden with some good roots and slows on Dire-side. Things go well in mid and bot lane, we start stomping the Radiant, my comp crashes, my team don't pause, I get an Abandon.
The I play a Treant game and we lose to a Sniper that rushed Desolator because no mid was picked and we were an all melee team. But I got a hat, I got a rare hat, so it all evens out right? Right!?

Ah fuck man I have no idea what happened in this recent game. Ran mid as Warlock, we also had a Magnus and a Troll and a Sand King and an Undying, basically all of the AoE damage, we were aggressive, I got a triple kill and a double kill early on and then at like 30 minutes in suddenly out of nowhere their Doom and Viper are all of the sudden incredibly tanky and not even double golems were doing anything. I need to go back and watch because its not like their Viper got a ton of early kills and I don't think Doom was off farming too much so I have no goddamn idea where they suddenly got the gold.
Really liking the tutorial stuff. Though you can't 100% it in test because you need to play limited hero pool matches at the end.
It goes like:
1. DK tutorial
2. Sniper tutorial
3. Video
4. 1vs1 mid with limited items
5. 1vs1 mid with all items, can pick between 20 heroes, need to play it 10 times.
6. 5 full bot games
7. 10 limited hero pool matches.
Obviously can't finish 7 because nobody plays in test.

Yeah it's pretty thorough for a basic overview I think. Stopped after doing round 5 once. Just kinda mind-numbing for someone experienced past that point, but for neophytes, it's a good introduction to a small stable of heroes and abilities. You figure they're gonna read what all their different skills do in that practice time.
There's also the play with a mentor option now that's new (the UI element at least) I think, though it's still greyed out.
But yeah if someone goes through all that, they're probably ready to be (gingerly) thrown to the wolves.
do you get items for #6 and 7 or did you get the full sniper set for the first 5?
Can people skip this/only play a part of it?
If they can I can see a lot of people skipping it. "I just wanna play" etc, wanting to get into games with friends etc.
If you can't, awesome for 80% (including smurfs HA!), bad for the 20% or already know what they are doing.

Not sure. You definitely can't skip to later parts of the tutorial. You have to complete it linearly. Not sure if new players can bypass it completely. Would definitely cut down on smurf accounts some, since even blitzing through it would take awhile. 3+ hours certainly.

you have to buy them....well you can trade for them...
Can't skip, you unlock the next part by finishing stuff. Beat DK tutorial, then you get sniper, beat that then you get a video that autoplays. Then you unlock the mid lane etc.
It's pretty sweet.

Played a shitload of Silencer matches this past weekend, some of them went alright, some others went horribly. Only in a couple of them I could actually get enough money to deal good damage via items and by the time I did, the matches were more or less decided.
Also I thought Silencer was a carry, but most people I've played with think of him as a support hero.

I got pretty far in the tutorial, but I'm gonna stop now since the last phase(?) involves playing a real match.
All of the later tutorials can be beat with one run, but they all have bonus objectives like try different heroes. I imagine you get most of the sniper items from those.

We made one where we didn't lane at all - pretended we had 2 afk's and kept pausing to bait for time and all-chatting russian/broken english infighting. Some guy was even disconnecting for real and reconnecting to keep up the façade. (Unecessary, but fun)
But yeah the strat is 5 man team jungle while the opponent thinks they have a free win. Then at level 6 we start 5 man ganking/rosh. You have to assume you can jungle/stack/ancients more efficiently than they can lane unopposed and give all the last hits to 3 people for key items: medallion, mek, vlads.
We used riki, brood, bounty, tusk, and furion. Works with any combo that can gank/jungle and teammates that can stack multiple camps/ancients 3-4x deep.
We didn't have to worry about banning out globals/beastmaster (Allpick) and warding/ganking/detection was non-existent. I'm not sure how well this works in higher tiers but it works like a charm on unorganized trench teams. We shared units and were on skype so full team coordination for the stackings.
There was something on reddit where you enable console commands for -wtf/god mode so you can finish the tutorials much faster.
I don't know where it is or if it works.

The last hit difference is pretty damn huge too.
Not sure how common this is but: Wisp, a carry or high impact hero (Tinker?!), Lifestealer (uses infest on high impact hero), Nature's Prophet and Spirit Breaker. Can arrive pretty much on scene for 5 man ganks
