VR is DoA why do people even bother

They want the future. With Moore's Law reaching it's limit, the future of video games isn't going to be "stuff looks better" but instead some nonsense like this.

I dunno, if PSVR ever gets cheap enough I'll pick it up for the novelty factor, but thinking that the Vive is somehow the future of video games is ludicrous.

Job Simulator is the Pong of the VR future guys.

i'm better at dota than 109 honestly

VR isn't going to "fail", atleast not like kinect or ps move or wii-u fail, there's already way too much money behind it for that to happen. Worst case scenario it becomes a novelty for rich people and a really important productivity tool for architects/engineers/doctors/astronauts

It doesn't mean anyone who posts on an internet forum should buy the first gen of it, though, there's way better things to do with your money

I am not 1.09 but I imagine the health you regain when you time walk and the length of time spells cooldowns are stopped for with his second skill will go down. Other than that he seems pretty balanced imo.

I feel like his base damage is pretty nuts. Whenever a hero is solo against him Void can out last hit them really easily especially with an iron talon. That plus his survivability seems a little too good.

this is such a garbage faux-sociological filler post that it's making my head spin

Nothing I said is wrong, eventually "stuff looking better" isn't going to drive the gaming market forward anymore.

Everything you said is wrong because it's nothing but your own blanket-generalizations and personal forecast of industry trends.

You have a pulse on every single individual that is looking to get into VR? You ran a market survey or something?

They all want the future? What does that even mean? What's your parameter on "stuff that looks better." What's "better" in this discussion?

Or are you just talking shit on an internet forum while trying to be extra edgy about your negative opinion on something?

I mean it's cool, we all do it.

Damn you got a lot of out my hastily posted thoughts, I'm just a dude on a message board who doesn't think VR is more than a passing trend, I'm not a market analyst. Next time I answer a dumb question about your pet passion I'll make sure to do a randomized study of potential investors so as not to raise your ire

jks I won't I'll just keep shitting on VR

Why do you think people are looking forward to VR? First hand impressions and...?

I don't even hate alternate gaming shit I just think 1st gen VR priced itself into irrelevancy for what you get out of the investment.

I dunno though, as has been established, I'm not a market analyst so my opinion is shit.

Man the major really needs to get going again.

For a game this popular and from a big developer the UI info on items/spells is super inconsistent. I'm starting to wonder if they ever fix them.

Also holy shit the ''interrupt 5 channeled spells'' quest is bugged as all hell.

Now that that's settled, who's playing today?

I personally hope 2016 will see a complete rebuild of the in-game UI, which has been on my shit list for the better part of 3 years now. So painfully inefficient, using much more screen space than it ever needed to use.

That one and the kill in jungle shit is garbage. Especially the latter.

How is that different than any other New Big Dumb Tech Thing? How much you think the first DVD player cost? VR isn't going anywhere. If there's anything I've learned from the internet (especially this thread) it's that all you fucking perverts wanna fuck cartoons. As long as this thing eventually starts bringing cartoon fucking to the privacy of your own living room it'll eventually be a hit.

Oh right they did promise a new UI

So we might get an update on that next year

If they change the UI too much I'll be even worse at this game than I already am. :S

Oh ya I forgot you'd be able to fuck cartoons with it, nvm it's already a hit.

It's kind of funny at this point.

Some spells have the aghs upgrade info from the get-go, some have it in the green alt text, some have nothing until you get aghs.

There are a few spells that don't have proper spell immunity info, plenty of tooltips that are still unclear, and tbh there should be a note about which abilities are purgeable.

It's still ugly as hell.

your analysis (and the analysis of pretty much every person discussing VR on gaming side) is basically "it doesn't work like a console or a video card" and "it's expensive". Granted there's a pattern of shitty gaming devices failing because of it, but it's just sort of puzzling that people accept the causation without considering other factors. Facebook/Google don't care about gaming and they expect this to be the next smartphone boom, it's not some silly sideshow project for them like hololens/kinect was to MS, or HMZ was to Sony. There's a discussion to be had but gamers are too narcissistic to have it.

Just realised Valve didn't include a HUD skin with either of the major compendiums, normally thats one of their go-tos for rewards. I wonder if that means we can expect the UI redesign this year

I'm just responding to the idea of it's gaming applications, yes. It's other, non-gaming applications seem even more fringe though. Google's been trying to crack AR/VR for years now with zero success and Facebook's investment doesn't mean the idea of VR is infallible. 1st Gen-VR is more than just "expensive" it requires a level of set-up that 95% of the public doesn't have or want, so you have to give them a reason to invest and so far the #1 reason has been "you can play Rez dawg".

I could totally see it catching public interest as more uses become available and the cost of the whole thing comes down.

So for that net worth quest, I either need to successfully rush a midas on someone or figure out how to play Alchemist right? I've had a few games now where I feel like I couldn't do much better and still came up short. Sometimes my GPM will end up above the threshold by the end of the game but hitting it at the 25 min mark is tough.

Max greed then acid. Unless you're dying a bunch of times, you can get the challenge done pretty comfortably.

Rad, BT, then whatever.

VR is just a stopgap until AR makes it big.

This is a safe assumption because eventually AR will be small enough to just be a regular ol' pair of glasses, and you can turn it into VR by making the background of the image black instead of clear, either with tech magic, or just attached a black piece of plastic to the lenses.

Yo I got BIG DREAMS.

He definitely had a few 'keep farming while the enemy team 5-mans T2' moments, lol Especially considering ember lategame shits on PL illusions, not to mention no BKB vs the other teams silencer/jakiro/invoker cc.

Yeah I should've expanded on that actually. The main issue was him sitting in jungle instead of farming and pushing lanes which your team desperately needed to keep up the pressure and play a higher tempo game. If you are 4 man pushing while your two other lanes are getting pushed back and the pl is sitting farming wolves and ogres, it slows down the game so much. It's just a sad sight. The worst thing about it is that at the end of the day, he'll probably just look at the score and think, hey I had a positive kd, this one's on the team when it really wasn't.

This patch is more core oriented than the last ones, it's more difficult to win with position 1 players that do not have a good grasp of the game.

Steve Ballmer saying that nobody was going to buy a 500 dollar phone and laughing his ass off in 2007 wasn't necessarily unreasonable at the time, just saying "it hasn't worked before" and "it costs more than a PS4" isn't much of an argument. Nobody is arguing that VR isn't niche or that first adopters aren't crazy people with too much money, but that's hardly the metric for big shifts in technology.

Oddly enough, this is correct. Porn does sell new technologies.

I don't wanna belabor the point (since the only people playing DOTA in VR are people who want to fuck PA) but VR requires a bunch more monetary and lifestyle investment than the iPhone did in 2007. You didn't need a moderately powerful computer to run an iPhone in 2007. We bought expensive phones on contract for years before the iPhone, the market and infrastructure was there and Apple just did it way better and a lot more expensive than anyone else (app store notwithstanding). This gen of VR is going to set the market infrastructure and public preception going forward for good or bad.

DOTA though right?

But yeah VR porn is gonna be huge.

Well I tried Occulus and had fun.

What's good Moblin!?!

The only undying set I want is one that turns him into Nurgle.

ya a lot of people I was with had fun with it, if you enjoy it and it's worth the cost then go crazy

tbh all I want from VR is more walking simulators/flying around/mountain games

honestly goty 2014 Mountain would be sweet with it

spectating/coaching don'ta matches would be zzz though, I need the top-down perspective/quick navigation
