Double Fine's Keeper - Review Thread

I agree, but how is Microsoft even trying to get to those folks. All three of those games, while successful, were successful on other platforms.

Just trying to figure out how they are pushing this game, more of a curiosity than anything else. I think I will enjoy it as I stated above but I am not the player they need for this type of game.

Keeper is clearly a author/Studio game. DF has already confirmed that it has two other larger projects (VS Keeper) in development.
In other words, it's a game that DF wanted to make and release, and MS simply gave them the green light, I suppose as a gesture toward the studio and its restlessness. I don't see anything wrong with that; on the contrary, it's something to celebrate that MS is encouraging so many projects of this type despite the fact that commercial success is difficult.

The game is also being released on PC, surely a PS5 future version.... I don't think much of a potential user base is being left behind.

I wouldn't say no. But they strike me as the kind of studio that took that MS buyout and said, now we can literally do the absolute weirdest shit ever that no publisher would ever greenlight. They probably have a bigger Schafer game and that other rumored game in the works now.

Maybe you're right but if they are going ahead with a next generation console then I don't want to see a over reliance on a single game like they did with Halo and the Series consoles launch and having to overly promote backwards compatibility because Halo had to be delayed.

A good Banjo or a Conker would have been a nice surprise and be one of a few ready for the next consoles launch. Probably far too late now though.

81 on Metacritic is not "great scores".

Since when is 81 not great?

Ok just been watching someone play for a bit, i dont think its for me.
Its very unique and nice looking but zero explanation about anything, or what you're supposed to be doing. Very weird too lol.

To me, this is exactly the type of game one would expect from Double Fine. Weird, quirky, fun. So why bother acquiring Double Fine to create exactly the type of games you bought them for, only to hang it out to die.
Precisely!

Double Fine is a slam dunk from a PR perspective, they resonate well with their fans, and have for the most part just kept their heads down.

Just a weird situation...I would have expected this to almost be "easy" to market to their fans.

Supermarket Simulator is getting more exposure on Microsoft's own Xbox app than Keeper.

Miss me with that shit.
This is the other game he was saying was Microsoft's last good game in his other emo rant.

Man seriously shit like this is why I can't stand PC gaming. Like Tom said it's a small issue but it's all these small issues that eventually add up and made me say fuck this and go back to PS5.

I remember having to contact PlayStation's support because I wasn't able to download Witcher 3 on my PS5 because it said I didn't own it. Posted on this very forum about it. This kind of shit is rare, but it isn't limited to any single platform.

To be fair i have actually seen a few streamers playing that Supermarket game. Never heard of it myself but those type of games tend to do decent on PC. Probably much more than this Keeper will do.

The game should be ported to PS5 and Switch 2. However, I also want Keeper native Android version on the Xbox Mobile store possibly coming next month. October 22nd is Deadline for Google to start implementing the injunction against them.
Was. Not Anymore.

Well, it's 84 or 85 on Opencritic. Not sure why the discrepancy.

I'm not going to say I've never had issues on PS5 but it's so rare I don't even think about it. It wasn't rare on PC. It was several things just like what Tom is showing. Forza got stuck at the loading logo screen, Controller disconnecting, static noise on my Xbox controller headphones, Arkham City wouldn't load, I could go on and on but you get the idea.

I love the way games run on PC but other then that I would rather go to Xbox then have to go back to PC gaming.

You mean Windows Store. GOG and Steam work fine.

Thats actually made by a good studio like Insomniac. This why I also give Destiny 1 a pass, pre Destiny 2 Bungie was something else.

Well yea Windows store had issues but no I had way way more issues than what just Tom is showing outside of the windows store itself.

You do you. Not going to derail the thread with this.

They are just promoting much more successful game

I think Microsoft could find a little more real estate to promote a first party game on its release day. Crazy talk, I know

They always do this annoying long ass delay before releasing the game on gog. I got it on Steam.

I will just play the waiting game till it is absurdly cheap on gog.

So 81 meta is a great score if Insomniac scores it, but isnt a good score if its another studio?

That tag is from when I was a Xbox fanboy hoping the old 360/OG days would come back believing their PR. I have not been a fanboy in a long time.

I think they be reading your posts in the Ally X thread, lol.

I'm getting not one, but two tiles, on the dash.
