Dragon Age II |OT| The Revenge of Shit Mountain

One cool thing I noticed with the character editor in relation to your sister is depending on what preset you choose to edit your character with, your sister reflects that preset's race. I moved the slider over to the blackish looking preset character and started tweaking from there and my sister looks blackish, I made an asianish toon to be sure and sure enough your sister...kinda looks it.
Yup, it's a pretty cool feature. My Bethany looks like Hallie Berry, circa 2001/2002, when she stared in Monster's Ball & Die Another.

But Gamlin looks weird. The game just matched his dark skin to my Hawke & family. No hair style change.

On the Black Emporium, if you keep fiddling with the character customized mirror, will the familie's appearance change in accordance?

Also, the Black Emporium sells respec potions!

As Crazymoogle mentioned, it is in the Black Emporium DLC.

Yeah he posted at the sametime I did, haven't even touched Black Emporium yet.

Haven't tried it, I'll check it out. Might be while, someone else try and report back if I don't.

Couldn't you just download a crack for it, or is it the Steam version?

Hm...boxed copy, EU, PC, non-steam.
I would not use any crack if there is another way, but if not..well, 24 hour wait. It wont kill me, I have SCII/MVC3/Tactics Ogre for that time :p

What? I'm hated the demo. This game doesn't deserve the RPG of the Decade title.
I'm happy!

You should actually play it first before saying that. PC gamer didn't say that based off playing the demo. It's actually quite fun.

I heard that your family changes appearance with you when you use the mirror. Can't say personally though.

Xbox Achievements Issue

Thought I'd let my fellow 360 GAFers know that the "Exiled Prince" DLC should add 130 gamerscore points, five separate 'cheevos, to DA2's base 1000 points. But it hasn't happened yet and the 'cheevos aren't unlocking for anyone. BioWare is aware of the issue.

If you haven't started the DLC quest chain, begins with "Duty", and you care about achievements; you may want to hold off on them for a little while.
You can do all the DLC quests in Act 2 if you want to wait
. Hopefully BioWare/EA and MS fix this quickly.

RPG of the decade doesn't mean much when 2020 is so far out of reach. Not many people will remember what DA2 was in 9 years. It definitely isn't some holy grail title like Baldurs Gate II or Planescape Torment was.

An Ocarina of Time cameo? This game has everything!

What the hell happened to the blond hair textures? Everything else looks fine apart from that and it really stood out with Aveline in the demo.

That's blonde?

Ehh?? Too late, already did that quest. Didn't know there were separate achievements. =/

Everyone knows Halo is the best RPG ever.
Halo is pretty good but all those stats make it too complex for its own good (different bullet types, shield hp and health hps wtf?). Its def not welcoming thats for sure.

I've got a question that may be a spoiler:

Is there any way to save that creature that kills himself after you escort him?

I don't have an answer but I just wanted to say that this quest was one of my favorites so far.

I just started the game, and i'm already in love with playing a rogue. Rogue was my favorite class from the first game, and personally I think the faster combat favors them. I also love the new backstab-teleport action (nothing like having 2 darkspawn about to hit you only to teleport behind them and backstab one!).
Also, it seems like the striking animation is more satisfying or something (that might just be me though).

I like the "target nearest enemy" key (I know it's part of the dumbing-down of the game, but hey), did they have that in the first one? The new skill tree setup is nice too (faintly reminds me of the FFX skill sphere).

So far, I don't get the hate (and I loved the first one)

Finished the game on a Mage Playthrough. Took only 18 hours. Did all the companion quests, main quests, all the side quests and left only some optional quests.

Nice to see that even though you supposedly make all the choices in the game the end video basically overrides decisions depending on what you do.
Shack up with Merril? too bad game decides you are with Isabela instead.

The real tragedy is the game starts getting really good in the last 2-4 hours just for it to end. The way they started the game drags on way too long and impacts the overall quality of the game.

Damnnnnnnnn. DA2 is short. I spent 100 hours with DA:O

JWong should be able t wrap this up in 4 hours then.

Seems to me DA2 was something of a rush job.

Bioware should have cooled their jets and waited with DA2 till they found out what made DA:O such a surprise hit and then made DA2 even more complex and epic.

Instead they rushed out a short dumbed-down action RPG with worse graphics......for shame.

Wow, the last two acts must be really short. I'm still not done with the first and I'm at 10 hours with a couple of quests to go.

I finished Dragon Age Origins in like 25 hours including doing all the sidequests so obviously your time may vary based on playstyle. I did my mage run through in Origins in 8 hours. I assume the same is true of Dragon Age 2.

Well I wasn't going for blonde, so I don't know. Anyway, most of the hair textures look pretty flat no matter the colour.

LoL Hawke doesn't care, which is how I would feel as that chick is annoying as hell.

Anyway I did the Anders recruitment quest and when it got to his mage friend all I could think was"It's One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" time.

But really, the demo leaves a really bad taste.

Don't do it, wait for the price to go down. Trust me, you'll thank me later!

Both of those pics a few back = fucking killing me, so hilarious. GAF Gaming Discussion wins again.

It's not his fault. He's just thinking of all that hot male ass that the devs make you smash.
Kinda funny but it seems like for this game they made all the Gay Characters totally desperate for sex. Had Fenris wanting in my pants practically when I met him same with Anders. Isabela didnt offer sex as fast as they tried and she is self admittedly a Slut

So I heard that Anders would leave in Awakenings so prior to going to save Amaranthine I left him at Vigil's keep instead of taking him with me. After saving Amaranthine I went on and defeated the mother and at the end credits everyone at Vigil's keep dies including Anders XD.

So now my question is Anders the best Mage in DA2? Any particular Anders party quest that stands out?

I want to know what is good about it. It's a standard skill tree they just got too fancy with. Setting it up like they have servers no purpose.

I plan to eventually pick up the PC version of this game, but my roommate got the Xbox 360 version yesterday. He wanted to try it on my 40" LCD TV because he was having problems reading the text on his 480i TV. He tried it in my Xbox first (set already to 1080p) and it looked just fine and clear as day. Then he tried his Xbox on it with standard AV cables running at 480i and the text STILL looked nearly unreadable in that low resolution.

I have to ask, has anyone else that's playing this in "standard def" ran into text issues like this? Are there more offenders in general of this besides DAII? Looking at that text in 480i mode on my TV still made it damn hard to read.

wtf, is this an N64 port?

First thing i thought of when seeing the DA2 combat in some live streams was Dynasty warrior, just uglier.
I could totaly imagine the guy frantically mashing the A button, mindlessly running from one ennemy to another without any semblance of strategy :/.
The skills tree looked pretty good though.
