I’m almost done with my first playthrough and I can safely say I much prefer brother NieR to Papa NieR, especially after the time skip. Also Brother NieR ‘s English voice acting after time skip is amazing.

Adult brother Nier is pretty awesome, yeah.

For my next playthrough I'm going to sample the JP voice work. Mai Kadowaki is famously the voice of JP Emil.

My GOODNESS...Grimoire Weiss is so sarcastic and funny...his lines are great.
I always prefer japanese voice acting in my japanese games, but in Nier Replicant I'd rather listen to the english voice acting.
The voice of the dubber fits like a glove for the Grimoire Weiss and his lines and personality! It's just perfect....I mean, PERFECT.

So Im 23h in...

I just defeated
P33?
after the dude gave me a big sword (and he was kind to repair it) But ALL my weapons are still lvl 1.
When is it a good time to start upgrading a weapon? Cause I still dont have a favorite.

I'd upgrade by then. It seems playthrough A endgame is tailored to level 2 weapons. Above that it becomes a cakewalk. I beat Hard with Level 2 weapons and a level 3 weapon and only the big armored guys were sponges but downed enemies can be finished anyway. Try to upgrade the Phoenix Spear or Dagger. Or the Iron Will. Those were my faves probably.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Just reached the desert and boy is this game a lot more enjoyable then Automata.

I'm sure Automata is just as good but the big empty world and no sense of direction really ruins it

And people say it looks like a PS3 game.
Yeah I don't understand how so many people say this "finally looks like a 360/PS3 era title", the game looks fantastic and is one of the best visual upgrades I've seen for a game that wasn't a full-on remake

NieR Replicant doesn't look like a PS3 game. But the old game actually looked PS2 ish.

Replicant looks like a base PS4/X1 game. Which it is. Not the most impressive game on these systems but it runs very solid and a lot happens on screen without the game tanking.

Do you guys know how New Game+ works ? (if there is one)
Will it retain my % of completion of the secondary quests ? So I can redo the first half to complete everything ?

Yes - for the latter part.

No.
Hum, so there isn't a New Game+ option that restarts from Route A after you have completed every route ? In Automata you can actually select any Chapter once the game is completed, to get whatever you missed.

I heard the game has a new chapter added, does this come during the A and B routes or later....also,how much effort is involved in getting all weapons?

I recently played through Nier Automata. I didn't like it. I thought the soundtrack and character designs wer great, but the story was presented in just about the dullest fashion possible. Plus the environments were generic and dull.

My friend really wants me to try this. Should I?
You ask if you should try Replicant? Well, I definately recommend it.

I hate to say it, but the music has taken a huge hit. Hope so badly for a gestalt music patch.
Young adult Nier has a really cool design. I'm glad they got rid of the barbarian geezer design for the west.
Couldn't disagree more, but it's a change I can live with.

Still going through the first playthrough, enjoying it a lot, graphics are way better than original.

Since I never played the original I cannot compare both soundtracks but even so the soundtrack in the Remake is fantastic.

If i loved Nier:Automata will i like this?

what does this game do WORSE than automata?

Imo automata has tighter progression and better controls, combat.

i think you will like this, but need to get used to the fetch quests design. 🤷‍♀️

Graphics, scale, less remixes(like no 8 bit version of songs), trophies, quests are a bit more fetch questy.

Subjective things where it‘s up to player to decide which ones are better.

Story, music, ending progression like route A to B to C, combat, art direction, party, battle customization, voice overs.

There are loading screens between zones (it was originally a PS3/360 game) and the side quests can be a bit of a slog. That's all.

and you should at least play through twice. to get endings a and b.

there are 5 endings, the new ending E im not feeling it. a strange twist that im not expecting and didn't fit the theme. but i can see why they did it 🤷‍♀️

Roughly how many hours does each playthrough have?

Seems the part 1 quest completion is 50% now and not 51%. 36 side quests.

Going to start up the road to part 2!

PC version is a mess in terms of performance, any news about patches or fixes for this ? First time where I wish I had a console and played it there.

NieR Replicant ver.1.22474487139... released on PS4, Xbox One and PC on April 23rd, and introduced fans of NieR: Automata to the original masterpiece of despair. The remaster/“upgrade” improves the visuals and combat along with full voice work, rearranged music and new tracks. But perhaps most importantly, it adds new story content.
There's a brand new ending which is available after Ending D once your save data has been deleted.

So I completed the game. I greatly enjoyed my time with this game (around 40 hours). Here are my thoughts...

First, the problems :
- overall game-design as us doing the same things again way too often, and it could have been better handled (run C should not even exist)
- we get too many fetch-quests too early : the game does not seduce instantly. As the beginning of the game consists in a lot of round trips, some uninteresting things to do, as well a the pretty simple design of the dungeons, having a ton of fetch-quests added over all of this is makes everything way too boring/tedious. To keep interested in the game, I had to skip most of the fetch-quests and advance with the story.
- then at some point (when you start being really into the world) you discover that you cannot do these quests anymore... This is poorly designed overall. It should have been better balanced.

Despite these obvious game-design flaws, I found that it was a great game :
- technically speaking, the game is pretty, the picture is clean, and lighting is great. Also a very smooth framerate at 60. This is everything I like in my games. Nothing beats a clean presentation like this, and the game is not riddled with all those shitty special effects like fog or particles.
- art direction is great. The places are superb and very different, although they are not that numerous.
- english dub was pretty great if you ask me.
- characters are excellent and their discussions are a huge part of the enjoyment you get out of the game.
- battle system is good and serviceable. It does what it has to do, and does it well. It is simple, but well executed.
- soundtrack is godlike.
- the story is another high point of course.
- animation is great as well, and a pleasure to look at.

As for NieR Automata, you need to see all five endings. Quite a lot of effort went into the last one.

Eagle Egg I fcking hate you!!
Ignore it. Wait for 15 nightmares in playthrough b, then play door three until you have what you need. You won't get one every time, but you'll get money, 10000xp and rare items every time you play through it, so it's a better investment of time than running back and forth the aerie a million times.
