Dragon Age: The Veilguard Final Trailer Released

I was wondering what your contingency plan is going to be for that thread.

ok, but you don't have any evidence this actual trailer wasn't always planned. Why would they not show the bad guy?

Trailers are in waves, as in they show different parts..sooooo yea, but you are trying way to hard to act as if this is a new or wild thing lol

With zero proof that they've ever done that, like just show trailers of just the same things and nothing new, but that isn't really how they've done it in the past.

Next thing you know you are going to tell me the dragons in the game MUST have been added last minute lol
You honestly think that the overwhelmingly negative reaction to the reveal trailer had no impact on how they decided to portray the game in the subsequent trailers? I don’t believe you’re as stupid as you’re pretending to be. Get real.

So funny that the usual suspects are the ones to open fire and then victimize themselves for others' opinions. The biker meme is for real in this thread.

Someone is even mentioning "reactions" when there was none up to that point. The cope is marvelous, but nothing compared to the pathetic CCU we'll be checking out fairly soon.

Cool beans 👍
lol l don't wish to have it seem like all things stated are for or against as this is a childish mindset Merely the point that Donkey made, I'm not really sure is true as genuinely those trailers show some bad guy, the larger story concept etc

Anything said about this game simply cannot be shoved into this 1 side vs another side etc.

I'm sure it did to a degree, but I don't see that they originally had any plans to NOT show the bad guy like this or any of the scenes you see here, why would they have all that in the game, but shit...not show it in the trailer about the game?

What evidence again do you have that originally, they would not show something like this?

Being different from the first trailer isn't really some wild thing, that is normally how a lot of this is done in gaming lol

So I feel of course they listen to feedback, but I don't see enough here to suggest the trailer we are seeing how, wasn't always going to be or something, the game is about the thing you see in the trailer, why would they program all of that and animate all of that and be like "ok, lets NOT show this in the trailer" lol

So their reveal trailer, like the Tanker trailer from MGS2 isn't some thing they MUST ALWAYS AND ONLY DO, that makes no fucking sense and its like you wish to make this argument that something has changed compared to what they had planned, but I don't see enough here to suggest a game called DRAGON age had zero plans to show a dragon they animated and programed.

Finally a decent showing for this game.

I have zero confidence the current Bioware can deliver a good game, but I still hope they manage to get a W nevertheless.

This is a huge wait and see, even with a hype trailer, I need to see them reviews, but more importantly I want to get the impressions for gamers here that played it. It would take a lot to make it a day never lol, but the days of day 1s by bioware are long gone

We'll see.

There better be sass and quips to back up the sheer amount of purple or no buy from me.

I demand quirky banter.

Edit: If I am able to take any character seriously, I will fucking refund this shit asap. I better see debates raging on the internet on who is the sarcastic comic relief marching to the beat of their own drum cause the punchline is they will all be the sarcastic comic relief marching to the beat of their own drum.

That's really cool, I'm happy for you 👍

Is this entire game at night?
From what I've seen, parts are in day time, but I'm not sure if it has a day and night cycle or not.

Nothing I've looked up states it has one, so I expect it to be something that changes based on story progression

The demo is gonna be make it or break it, hopefully the combat is gonna be better than it looks.

Agreed.

If it plays good and its fun, I'll pick it up next year some time. I'm ok with how it looks as normally I don't really play much games based on looks (i mean, play Bethesda games all the time lol)

What if I get this and Kingdom Come 2 and like them both? Do I have to choose a side in the culture wars or can I just play games?

More confident in Kingdom Come 2 to be good given BioWare’s recent flops but this looks promising and deserves a chance to stand up or fail on its own merits.

Expecting 8 or 8.5/10.

Pros: Battle system, graphics
Cons: Story, characters

Not at all a flawless game, but could be fun with the right expectations. Probably better than FFXVI overall, but we'll see how bad the cringe is. Gameplay looked pretty good.
this's all well said. & is why i'll be waiting for either some strongly positive impressions or, more likely, a decent sale...

If you close your eyes, and let the epic music score, voice acting and sound effects take your over, I must admit --- It's amazing.

But then you open your eyes and you see this atrocious, uninspiring artstyle.

Yeah bro but you can play rock paper scissors with the skeleton. OMG it’s so quirky and clever, really delightful when you stumble upon all these little details after the astroturf marketing bots spoiled them for you.

What do you think will be better. This or Avowed?

By the way @Kacho I'm not going to make it in time, my marathon of Dragon Age games has come to a crawl because I have just reached Inquisition and it unfortunately took the wrong lessons from a lot of Ubisoft games with it's open biomes, including collectathon/MMO-style sidequests. Compared to the two before it which were paced very very well, I now find myself playing a podcast-game that might take me up to 100 hours to complete.
Why r u doing the mmo objectives? Skip them and the game becomes much better.

Also, EviLore EviLore I normally never tag you or ask you for anything, but I have a feeling that this whole woke vs anti-woke battle is going to rip apart this game's |OT| so I was wondering what your contingency plan is going to be for that thread.
It’ll be moderated as any official thread, against people with agendas trying to be disruptive without having an interest in the game, since the official thread is meant for people who bought it and are playing it, but I'm not going to prevent people from giving their honest impressions.

It was troublesome to me when an ex-moderator tried to shut down all criticism of FF16 in the official thread, which is why I went out of my way to criticize the game myself (and a significant part of why he's an ex-moderator).

Is the skeleton with goggles a full fledged companion?

That first trailer had that awful Fortnite aesthetic and quippy Marvel dialog, it got ratio’d to hell on YouTube and bashed relentlessly by the DA fandom.

But yeah, I’m sure it’s just a total coincidence that the other trailers tried to be as far from possible from the tone of the first one that everyone hated.

Yeah, initial reveal had purple vomit everywhere, big emphasis on the mildly deformed super stylized fortnite aesthetic, was generally filled with marvel quips and legitimate GAAS styled character title cards. I mean, it looked like something that could be in the extended Shrek universe.

New trailer is including mainly (what I assume to be) main quest dialogue and cutscenes, little emphasis on the big gay color scheme, one noticeable shot of the lolomgwtfsorandom skeleton, one shot of the screaming trans deer/demon dude (Qunari?), lots of focus on monster and creature design.

It was like comparing the trailer for Gollum to the theatrical trailer for Return Of The King, except both incredibly disparate trailers in this case are of the same product.

I think anyone being genuine sees what you're saying here.

I don't see this as a problem. The majority of "haters" will stick to ancillary threads involving how badly the game sold or if the designers put something ridiculous in the game that previews haven't been privy to.

It is safe to say that the future of Bioware likely hinges upon the success of this game.

Regardless of just how woke the game appears to be. The writing quality of the previous entry (Inquisition) was truly all over the place. That game was also a godawful bore. The gameplay loop itself tedious. The mission structure consisting of fetch quest after fetch quest. The environments unnecessarily large and filled with practically nothing. Simply traversing the breadth of some of those areas took forever. More egregious was the dark | light dialog options. You could be either good or kind of a dick. Almost like the developers felt uncomfortable delving into darker themes like in the previous entries.

Concerns regarding the change of tone and direction are valid. Regardless of what the ideologues believe. It simply isn't a good sign when the fourth game in any franchise has had to redefine the core of what the franchise should be. Almost like a solution to a problem that doesn't exist. Attempting to try something different rather than sticking to the original concept seems unnecessary. The cartoony look, inflated character heads, marvel quippy dialog in my view don't really fit the franchise well. The contrast between what we have seen and the original game appears significant.

The trailer was a much better representation of 'Dragon Age' but I just can't get past the obnoxious pandering and feminist tropes. Such a shame as I was a huge fan of the company and have played almost every game they have ever released.

Grigori still reigns supreme.

I'm interested in how this game will pan out. For better or for worse. Biowares future probably hinges on it and my magic 8-ball keeps saying "Outlook not so good". It has a Saturday Morning Cartoon vibe with popping colors instead of Dark Fantasy Grit that Dragon Age was known for.
