Dragon Age: The Veilguard impression video: Full-blown God of War action meets Guardians of the Galaxy story tone

I like this youtuber's previous work, I think it might be informative to bring up this new video.

0:00 Intro
1:46 Combat and story tone
6:03 Carry over decisions from previous games
9:00 art direction
9:38 so... what's good about Veilguard?

The combat looks fun, to be honest. But I don't know the feeling about "very linear structure".
The light-hearted tone is what made him claim "It could be a good game, just not a good Dragon Age game."

There are several folks on this very forum who seem to be excited about the game and think it'll be good. I can't fathom how the fuck someone can like Origins and think this looks remotely playable, but they're around here.
I think it's okay, I don't know if they are long-term fans, but for me, I guess I'll say I care about DA 1-3 enough such that I hope to see how the final story will unfold. But I do have big doubts about whether Veilguard will be good.

Ufff...i am pretty sure now...I will pass. :messenger_pensive:

But the noDenuvo thing is still good. Hopefully they stick with this and not only did it cause they saw the bomber coming.

The games looks laughable compared to DA:I, but even compared to 2 and Inquisition. Its way too safe, way too colorful and way too limited. I don't know what kind of crowd this game is aiming for, not the hardcore fans and I doubt new players would care all that much.

This game has felt heavily astroturfed since they revealed it. Like someone trying to convince you that the game isn't bad constantly.

This is certainly the game where its very noticable.

It's an absolute joke when it's lineage is DA Origins. It doesn't seem sincere to think this is anything but awful from an Origins fanbase.

Honestly does any Dragon Age fan think this won't be shit?
I'll start by saying I am a big fan of Dragon Age, especially Origins, but, I'll put it nicely and as you said it, it's a potential shit.

Yeah there are, but here I think it's more as a wishful thinking type of thing, but on Reddit, Jesus Christ, there the game is already the game of the century, there are some really delusional fans there.

I've made my peace with the series a long time ago, as a matter of fact, with anything Bioware related, as this isn't Bioware anymore.
I couldn't care less what happens with the series, as I already experienced Origins, which is the best out of all, but if they can't reach that level again (and history showed us that they can't), maybe it's best for the series to die off, for a time at least.

Though I'll be honest, I'm tempted to see the story for myself at least.

Even worse, there are quite a number of folks who claim to be fans of the franchise but want to see this release flop badly, and the studio shut down, even if that’d likely lead to the end of the franchise.

Pretty sure there’s way more effort from folks determined to push the narrative that the game is shitty even without playing it.

I'm a massive fan of DA:O, yes let the studio die and the franchise end. Whats the point of releasing shit games for a well beloved franchise?

I didn't turn bioware into a shadow of it's former self.

They just don't want this franchise to suffer anymore. Its a mercy killing.

So is this a positive reaction video, if so... why the fuck go with that on the thumbnail.

That character model does not... inspire confidence.

Shit gaslighting attempt btw!
He was also insinuating that I am unhinged yesterday because I said that EA's push to have people subscribe to GeForce's Ultimate Subscription to play this game feels like a desperation tactic. OK, sure thing dude.

People aren't interested in this game. It's not because they want Bioware to shut their doors forever. It's not because they want the game to fail. It's because Dragon Age was an awesome fucking franchise and this feels like a major backslide.

That was a very even-handed and honest video, thank you OP for posting it. It pretty much solidified my impression that tonally this game will be a massive departure from the likes of Origins, and most hardcore fans of the series are going to be turned away.
It's not for hardcore fans, it's for modern audiences 😀

It's gonna be filled with awful "quippy" dialogue that makes everything le funny even if it's not at all

The combat looks like a much better version of God of War 2018.

thanks for sharing the video, that was very even handed and informative.

This is a “maybe I’ll play it later when it’s on sale and I’m out of stuff to play” game for sure. Feels sad to say that about a BioWare game.

This will be the Mass Effect Andromeda moment for Dragon Age. You all see it coming.
As someone who likes Mass Effect Andromeda but understands why many don't.....this game wishes it could get as good of a reception as ME:A.

If this game doesn't bomb it will be amazing. I cannot believe how someone greenlit this and thought it was a good idea to take the series this direction.

Because going this picture alone, there's the sales potential of Fortnite or mobile gamers buying DA. And those gamers outnumber legacy DA fans.
