To me, it looks like people did what that person said: They just ignored the game and didn't bought it. It's as simple as that "chuds" like Asmongold aren't the majority.

Suspicions of wokeness - "You guys are on a witchunt. I'm totally not woke by the way, I'll just spend all day arguing with people who don't like woke things."

Regardless of whatever it is, you cater to the audience and not the other way around.
You could say that was what they were doing. Catering to the very small and niche audience and not the masses of chuds.

Dude, it was a shit game. I overlooked all of the annoying representation bullshit and it was still absolute trash. In case you haven't noticed, everyone is pretty tired of people like you spouting garbage. I suggest you go back to your cult and screech there for a bit.
 
OK my two cents

It's perfectly fine to make an indie game about how much you love trans people.

Veilguard however is made by corporation with shareholders.
Gamers are a bunch of degenerates, racists, perverts, crazies and weirdos. Always have been and god willing always will be.

Even if all the Western devs teamed up they still couldn't do shit. Because we have options. Asia makes games.
 
The game was mid, it didn't have great writing as expected from a Dragon Age game and some of the gameplay changes didn't resonate well with people who normally play Dragon Age. The DEI stuff just added fuel to the fire

It has something to do with being able to go to sleep at night in your bed without happening to keep one eye open.
Or if you don't cook, not being relegated to eating Ramen or something heated up that comes out of a can for an extended period before you tuck tail and sheepishly apologize.

With co-workers, you can safely laugh in their face. Unless it's your boss, and then the above also applies.

Rep, there's a big difference between games like Veilguard and From's products. I don't remember anyone claiming that they were threatened either.

Games like Elden Ring are games that you don't like, and I personally think are overrated. Games like Veilguard are unforced errors that waste 5-6 years of dev time and shut down studios. I also think they contribute to the downward trend of interest in the single player side of the medium.

I know you have high expectations of the established AAA teams: At bare minimum, they should not be making projects that are so clearly off putting to paying customers that they wind up doing less than 1.5 million sales after a month for a Dragon Age title.

If this lesson isn't learned, there will be fewer studios of the caliber you and want to be making SP games, and smaller budgets going towards them at that. Naughty Dog may well be up next.

I haven't enjoyed anything from BioWare since Mass Effect 2. BioWare is killing BioWare.

Edit: also chuds can like diverse games, just look at Balder's Gate 3 or Cyberpunk 2077. The difference is they have much much better writing.

EA doesn't care about review scores in the end. The game failed because it WAS left alone as it is trash.
So much coping and crying for a mind virus infested studio that lost its talent long ago.

But gaming forums and social media wouldnt be in this state if devs left out politics from games and didnt egg it on battling gamers on twitter.

If a company wants to make it, go ahead. But like any industry, it's a losing cause going after the public. A company is always outnumbered and it's almost always bad PR.

They must've known that they were targeting a small group of people. Question is, why would they think it would lead to a sales success? As with anything aimed at a minority the majority will literally look it up and think it's not for them and just move on with their lives.
 
The problem is that this companies take pre established successfull IPs and ruin them by wokingfying them. If they created new woke iPs people wouldn't buy them, wouldn't give 2 fucks and would not review bomb them.
That's why you get review bombed, you are betraying your fans.

We hate the politics the devs are trying to push in dragon age. You can't handle the difficulty in from games. We are not the same.
 
If someone took over Fromsoft and made their games very political and divisive by design, alienating fans of the franchise, then there would be rancour. Hard to see why this is not dead obvious.

Then again, you were maybe also part of the group of people that either supported or did not say anything when people mobbed game devs that did not adapt to "modern audiences", when people were getting cancelled (sorry deplatformed) / called up at their day jobs trying to get them fired, when people "pretended to misunderstand" Popper's intolerance paradox, when people were judge, jury, and executioner online, when it was either you are part of the solution or part of the problem level of discussion, when it was enough to say something that sounded similar to someone "implicated" with someone your group did not like, etc… when it was not cancel culture but consequences culture right?

What some were saying back then was that such behaviour if it became normalised in the culture then it would backfire as these things usually do either in incessant purity tests after purity tests (each time with their internal purge of those not faithful enough) or when the other side would win and employ a refined version of the same tactics and the general public would not bat an eye. People did not want to listen and because they feared winds changing they stepped it up a notch even further in the opposite direction and well… congrats… :/.

On top of it all the devs and people that were astroturfing for it were kind of even inviting these "losers" to do their worst ("spread hate, we dare you criticising this game, you are a spiteful minority that does not matter")…

It's not even "wokifying" (whatever that actually means) that is the problem. It's hiring writers, artists and designers off Tumblr and let them be in charge of a game. Most of these people don't like video games, haven't read even one play by Shakespeare and didn't even look at one painting by Larry Elmore or Frank Frazetta. And then you expect them to design and develop a Dragon Age game.

And what they made is a Tumblr post in video game form.

That is precisely "wokifying" You hire unhinged woke amateurs for the job, and get a bad product in return.

It's also nepotism at its finest, it looks like only a certain group of individuals are the lead writers in many Western studios. So, actual writers (good ones, not pretenders) are being pushed out to favor these target demographics. Since this is discrimination and a borderline illegal practice, I can only wish they are all fired and the studios go under.

If you (not you) are idiot enough to listen to other people without even watching some gameplay to decide if you wanna buy a game or not, it's on you not on the people review bombing.

Do you think i give a fuck about people calling indiana jones an immersive sim? I watch some gameplay and see by myself that is nowhere near dishonored or prey, you know, actual immersive sims.

Only people without a brain only listen to positive or negative feedback without checking by themselves.
 
It's so sad. Don't they realize how silly this all sounds. Guess what, boys don't buy Barbies but they still sell because girls do. It's like making a Barbie doll aimed at boys and blaming girls for it not buying it. If you make a product to target a different audience than your existing one, then this is what happens. Only with movies and games do they apply this logic. McDonald's wouldn't go completely Vegan and blame people for not buying their burgers. This is just how markets work.
