Dragon Quest 11 releasing July 29th in Japan for 3DS and PS4

Well if you really want to play it on the go, might as well go for the 3DS version or the PS4 with Vita remote play.

Anyway it's better than having the actual item rather than waiting for the Switch version to be officially revealed, confirmed, and announced with a release date.

Don't have access to wi-fi at work for playing during my lunch and breaks, nor wi-fi in my car, so remote play is a no-go for my situation.

Though I guess people hack their 3DSes to be region-free now, so idk.

The PS4 version looks stunning.

Yeah, the animations are really nice. Senya's introduction where she's surprised by Veronica was the one that really stood out to me in the PS4 trailer, lol.

Also, it looks like they might have different mini-games? Or they just split them between the two trailers to show unique footage to each but the Horse racing was only in the PS4 reel and the weird dungeon one was only in the 3DS reel.

I hope y'all baka gaijins arent hoping to buy the 3DS version in the west. If I had to bet I'd say we will get the PS4 version but not the 3DS one.

Its not a wish. Its a prediction.

We get the 3DS version if Nintendo decides to eat the costs of bringing it over.

I'm in for the PS4 version.

The 3DS version hits the nostalgia buttons hard, and those fight backgrounds in 2d mode look gorgeous--but the 3DS is an ergonomic nightmare and it's difficult enough to slog through DQ8 on it.

Aeana, the music sounded new to me--what's it recycled from? I'm guessing DQX since that's the only mainline game I haven't played? It is disappointing, though--DQ8 seems to be the musical high-water mark of the series at this point.

I may be crazy, but actually hoped it would be released in japan in late this year to allow as much time for Polish. But if it's done it's done.

I only ask that it's a full DQ game which means lots and lots of hours to complete.

I don't think the Japanese version will have Polish. Sorry. We'll have to see if it even comes out in Europe...

LMAO. The Asian PS4 version doesn't come out until Winter 2017. I guess they're... translating it or something?

Since they just recently launched DQ10 in Chinese, it makes sense that they'd also release DQ11 in Chinese to capitalize on the mindshare.

Might be doing english VOs.

Any chance they bring the 2d versions over the ps4 as a dlc. In the off chance an english 3ds version isn't made(pls ninty), I'd love to have all three versions of the game on a single hardware.

Do you know what regions they launched in? Is it just China (PC), or did it launch in Taiwan and HK too? If DQX is running in Taiwan, than they're almost certainly planning a Chinese translation for that market.

If they added animations on sprites then it may compete with SFC DQ6 (I still think that was one of the best). Even without that sprite version may become the most time-efficient version.

Speaking of SFC DQ6, animations, 2D/16-bit graphics and the end of a trilogy, these were the magazine previews I remember seeing in EGM2, Electronic Gaming Monthly and GamePro, respectively.

Nice, I'm interested in the two versions I've actually seen footage of. While I'm mostly excited about the PS4 version, the novelty provided by the 3DS version may also be something I want to try.

The music that has been in the trailers so far has been relentlessly mediocre. But I'm also in the camp that Sugiyama has been in a downward spiral since DQ9.

dqb and dqh2 chinese version are about 2 months after JP version.
would expect it will be earlier than english version this time, just like the other 2 PS4 DQ titles.

Both versions look great. Will get whatever version comes to the West. If both are coming over, I think I'll go for the PS4 version. Maybe.

Hey guys, I have a question.

I want to preorder the game from Japan, it will be my first japanese game I import because
I learn japanese and the easy language used in the game will help me train myself, especially on kanji.

Now i went to play-asia to preorder the game and I saw that the game costs 75 euros!

Wow, it surprised me, why is it so much expensive compared to Europe and the US?
Is there another website i can preorder with better prices?Because if it's that expensive I may as well take the special edition :p.Keep in mind also that I want the retail version, no digital

I assumed there would be a Switch version, but after watching that stream I am actually more hyped for the 3DS version than the PS4 version.

I'd take portability over graphics for this series any day.

Hopefully Switch version happens, but if it doesn't I'll grab the 3DS one when it's out in the USA.

Both versions of this game look amazing. I'm always down for more DQ. I hope we get localization and Switch news at E3. Even though the 3ds graphics and style look awesome, I don't think I can go back to my 3ds now that I do all my portable gaming on the Switch. I would actually love it if the 3ds version was released on the Switch as a simple HD up-port at some point. I might prefer playing that than the PS4 version.

it's 8980 yen... 75euros = official price.
Japanese game price are always higher at release and then you may wait for discounts.

Check Amiami: http://www.amiami.com/ (not on board yet)
And Amazon JP: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B06Y63281P/
Both have global shipping like playasia. You may pick up the one with a bit lower price.

In the 3DS gameplay footage, the ship music is from DQ4 and the church music is from DQ8.

I can't imagine they'd announce a Switch version at E3, given the Japanese popularity of the series... I'd be stunned if there's any word of a Switch port before the game launches in July, as that would just cannibalize sales.

Switch seems like it could easily offer an "ultimate" version with all 3 versions included (with some graphical downgrades vs. the PS4 version) down the line, but I'd be shocked if we see it before the holiday season.

My only possible gripe are the menus, they don't seem like they evolved(although I need to go back and check the tapes to be sure) much I especially worry about alchemy being annoying again. I'll get over it pretty fast once I start playing, still man come on it's 2017 :-x cut down useless navigation steps. It's like having a small splinter stuck in your skin. Not a big deal just slightly annoying.

Sooner than expected! Hopefully this means a localization will follow suit in a relatively short amount of time (and by relatively short, I mean less than a year).

Just saw this:

Mochizuki asked about the Switch version. The reply: "It is still planned but no announcements today. Whether it launches together on the same day as PS4 and 3DS or not we cannot say today".

I guess it could go either way, given this cagey attitude. Maybe an E3 reveal is in the cards, after all.

Was there any indication in the stream that there would be anything like the downloadable dungeons from DQIX or any sort of DLC (beyond what looked to be a pre-order outfit or something)?

What was shown seemed very basic, but I couldn't tell from what I saw...

That would be amazing I hope so, I thought it was just weapons.

Well, we've seen the hero with three different colored outfits so far. Granted, they're all pretty similar to his default design, but if nothing else then the colors must be customizable. They did indeed show the weapon changing on the stream though.

Aside from the technical prowess I'm not sure I like the plastic dolls in the PS4 :/ btw I'll get 3DS version (no PS4) and eventually Switch if/when it comes out.
