Well, we've seen the hero with three different colored outfits so far. Granted, they're all pretty similar to his default design, but if nothing else then the colors must be customizable. They did indeed show the weapon changing on the stream though.

Not buying unless I can dress him up in a slime suit.

Cloth set and head only, no pants, gloves, and shoes option.

If daddy Horii need money that bad, maybe we will see shit load of DLCs beside shit load of collaboration items from mini mart near your house!

In the demo I noticed the girl playing changed his outfit but the model didn't change like it did for the weapons.

Sooner than I thought lol.
Still amazing that they managed to get a release on PS4 and 3DS at the same time. Wonder how it will be localized, if ever.

I doubt they'll even bring over the 3ds version to the West, didn't DQ 7 and 8 sell poorly? They'll probably delay the Western release until the Switch version is ready to go along with PS4.

If I'm still alive when the 3DS version comes to the Americas, day-one purchase for me. I've been playing the hell out of DQ8.

Going to laugh if the Uber Falcon Sword will beat out all others again.
DQ does not have a good sense about how strong extra attacks are I feel like.
I've been hoping that the Falcon Swords are going to be balanced more around as the best way to trigger status effects you gain from enchantments or something instead of them just winning out on dmg because of psyche up.
(Based on 8 3ds and 9ds)

So this may of been discussed before but are the PS4 and 3DS games the same other that graphically of course? Same story? Or are they 2 completely different versions, kind of like what was done with Ni No Kuni on DS and PS3?

Do the monsters chase you in the PS4 version? Doesn't look like it to me.

I bought DQ8 3DS. Only played 2 hours, because I want to finish Bloodborne and Persona 5 first. Really liked what I played though, can't wait to jump back in.

Probably just setup that way for the event today.

Order placed! :D I got this!

I couldn't resist and had to get this super cute Slime with it as well. Now running off to a conbini to pay 20.000 yen.

If the Japanese government knew I was using my scholarship money to buy dragon quest games and junk I think they would kick me out of the country lol

I just love the looks of the 3DS version and it would be my preferred choice if it releases it in the West (for the first playthrough.)

But I do think the PS4 version has improved dramatically. It looks much more coherent now. At least it doesn't look like someone pasted the character into another game's screenshots anymore.

Edit: Seeing the gif above, Not-Torneko's claw attacks are awesome

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.
I see people talking about a gameplay demo, any link?

That's so weird to me, was VIII the same?

VIII had voice acting in all the cutscenes for the Western version only IIRC.

it's 8980 yen... 75euros = official price.
Japanese game price are always higher at release and then you may wait for discounts.

Check Amiami: http://www.amiami.com/ (not on board yet)
And Amazon JP: https://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B06Y63281P/
Both have global shipping like playasia. You may pick up the one with a bit lower price.
Thanks, although amazon.jp for some strange reason doesn't ship to my country( Greece)

I will wait for the Amiami preorder to be up, see the price and then decide

No voice acting makes cutscenes kind of awkward. Did they not want to pay for it or something?
There hasn't been a mainline DQ initially released in Japan with voice acting. For example the 3DS version of VIII is the only mainline game in Japan with voice acting.

so is this the first DQ to have more female party members?

i mean sure in 5 you had three wives to choose from and a daughter too but other than that?

Looks great. This and NNKII fighting it out. I do disllike the main character look though. Not sure if it's the hair or what but he doesn't seem right with me. Beyond that though DQ returns to console which I simply can't wait for. It's soon for Japan which means sooner for us too.
