Dragon Quest 11 releasing July 29th in Japan for 3DS and PS4

People are still read in Japan. Frankly I think voice acting takes away from the game.

Can't wait to get the 3DS version. Too. As there is no Switch 3DS double pack, would have bought that.

But guv I really like voice acting especially in VIII's. That and orchestra version really made the game special for me.

Love how you can beat monsters and "use them" (ride their shells) to access various elements in the level.

Looks great. This and NNKII fighting it out. I do disllike the main character look though. Not sure if it's the hair or what but he doesn't seem right with me. Beyond that though DQ returns to console which I simply can't wait for. It's soon for Japan which means sooner for us too.

he reminds me of hyuuga neji... its the hair

That's not going to go over well in the West, at least for PS4 version.

Jesus, that Square Enix tax.

Much earlier than I expected. Let's see how close Square sticks to their word on those Western ports. I'm expecting a 6 month translation. December release in the West?

Presumably we'll get VO in the international version. Does anyone know if Heroes had Japanese VO? Or was that an international only VO track again?

Then again, DQVIII was fully voiced on 3DS in Japan :/ Man, so confusing...

I doubt it. English DQ localisations usually take at least a year so I'm not getting my hopes up for a 2017 release, especially if they're going to do VO.

Hmm... good point. For VIII only Western release has VA (talking PS2 here).

That's way sooner than I ever would have expected. Weird how they were so mum about the game though.

Anyway, there's a real chance we'll get either FF7R part 1 or KH3 next year then, which is a reassuring thought.

Finally got to watch the trailers since I couldn't watch the live stream. Both versions look so great. Absoutely going to get that double pack. Can't wait to play both versions. That classic 2d mode on the 3ds one looks so cool, and the PS4 version is what I've been waiting for since DQVIII on ps2. It's going to be a fun summer vacation this year in Japan!

I recently (finally) started DQ7 on 3DS because it was simply time for more DQ. I love the series. So fabulous. I might buy a PS4 just for this game. We'll see.

She doesn't mess around.
Tifa got her hair done.

Watching all the footage from the stream again and happy to see some new NPC designs. I had worried that they'd just recycle the ones from VIII.

Very happy with what I'm seeing of the game, particularly the 3DS version which is just a charming looking thing. Also excited about the new ways to explore in the PS4 version, feels like a natural extension of what was promised in DQVIII, also flying the dragon will be awesome. Just excited; there's something magical about a brand new mainline DQ game for me. My only gripe so far is none of the music has grabbed me yet.

Wow. I wonder what's taking the space, lots of cutscenes or just assets? Especially considering that there's no VA in this.

I feel like the game will be pretty big with that files size, like 100+ hours.
Director said at the end of the show that it is 50 hours long for the main story and 100 hours for everything.

Game looks awesome, hopefully we'll hear about western release soon.
I'm worried the PS4 Pro enhancement is just unlocked fps stuck in 40-50s but whatevs, Day 1.

Sorry, I nearly crossed my eyes rolling them so hard reading that. You can feel good about your amazing reading skills in most games that let you mute voice overs.

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

did they explain how the free movement camera mode will work during battles? like can you evade attacks and stuff from moving away from enemies?

They should offer voice acting DLC. You could think of it as the book on tape version.

Reading is something that is taken with great pride in Japan and dialog heavy RPGs are a part of that reading culture. You shouldn't expect voice acting in Dragon Quest.

God damn that's early. Wonder how long it'll take for a western release. I swear I'll spend the whole year playing video games at this rate.

Any info in 4k or HDR?
