I'm in Azlan too. If you have a field that needs watering, it'd be easy for me to stop by.

For leveling, places near camps (where you can make a zoom stone), with monsters that roam in large numbers and ones you have party members with weapons that hit their weakness are preferable.

I leveled Sorina at Curalana Coast (still overcrowded even now I guess) in Wena (lots of grindable enemies, Takometts being both risky and rewarding), Falling Leaves in Eltona (mostly for the Bud Brothers/まだらイッチョ, they call for backup) and Gobble Desert West (Ghouls and Blood Hands).

It obviously depends a lot on what job you want to level, what level it is at currently, what supports you have access to, what equipment you are willing to buy (effective weapons or armor with resistances). To take on Ghouls for example the majority of your party should be immune to curses or battles will drag on too long or you'll even wipe.

Edit: And although they don't give the crazy amounts of exp as the key emblems and the story quests in Rendacia which I guess you don't want to do yet, there are still plenty of story quests in version 1 that give smaller amounts of exp. Every starting town, first city and capital gets a five part quest series (with two to three of them being bosses usually) once you beat the main story associated with each location.

I'm playing 3DS version without any VPNs.

If works good, but not perfectly though.

And interesting this is that It seems subscription data is saved into 3DS, Not SQEX account.

Well, I'm not surprised that it isn't a great experience considering the entire video is streamed... but it's interesting that it works without a VPN. I've thought about trying it, myself, but someone on my team in the game is getting it and will have it on Monday, so I'll wait and see what they say about performance.

Hm, I went back to the elf starting village and didn't find anything. Nothing in Azlan, either. Are you talking about these quests, or something else?

So the streaming version isn't IP blocked for Korea. I wonder if this means the streaming version just isn't locked or that the IP lock in general is still lifted for Asia but not other regions.

No, that is the long legend quest series about the king of calamity we talked about earlier. I meant the gaiden quests on this page:

http://hiroba.dqx.jp/sc/topics/detail/d645920e395fedad7bbbed0eca3fe2e0/

Not sure why that page doesn't list the legend quests as well, they're also distributed quests (edit: on the other hand they're referred to as version 1.4 quests so they go beyond being added content). But anyway, you should be able to take all of these gaiden quests by now.

Ahhhhh. The trigger in ツスウル is with an NPC who doesn't have a purple dot on the map, no wonder I couldn't find it.

You're missing a k in ツスクル (play on English to school I think). But yeah, that one is sneaky. The Azlan one should have been easy enough to find though.

Aeana

Member
Yeah, looking at who starts the Azlan one, that person did have a purple dot. But it'd been there for so long that I assumed it was something else. I'd seen that dot there I think since I resubbed, which is congruent with the requirement being "received the green key emblem" listed there. I assumed it was something new that showed up since then that I didn't see. Either way, I should've talked to that person.

These sidestory quests are pretty good, and they give a lot of fame. I was finally able to get to level 15 fame and did the 30->40 inventory expansion quest (sadly have to wait 24 hours now). Really like the story in the elf village one too, although I'm not done yet.

Don't hurry that poor boy, he's still learning how to make bags. ;)

I think the sidestories keep up the high quality of the original release story content. A lot of them are direct continuations of the stories started in the key emblem parts too.

For the final battle in the Tsuskul sidestory you might want to invest in a piece of equipment that has alchemy for perfect instant death protection applied to it. I recommend headgear from the magic set (まほうサークレット) or from the technician set (きじゅつしのぼうし) as the base equipment because they can be worn by a large number of jobs and provide decent defense as well.

I can also register Skyppai and Sorina wearing theirs if you need to hire supports for the battle.

I finally finished the level 50 cap quest, so now I can get my guy's to 55. I'll hit 80 eventually... Probably two years from now. I've been doing the 2.0 story quests a little, I'm liking the new characters they're introducing, they all have nice designs.

I think the dungeons are looking nicer as well, might have something to do with the PC version but they definitely seem to be taking advantage of smaller areas and fancier effects.

Already saw some folks with dragons. I want it, I want it, I want it. Have to clear the rest of the 2.0 story first I'm only on the first bit of it.

extralite

You actually have to clear up to the end of version 2.2. You get the dragon from the first quest of version 2.3. I got one for my main today but my sub is halfway into version 2.1.

But I raised both of them two levels with a weekly hunt quest. 120000 for the sub, 150000 for the main.

Shouta

I did that weekly quest last night and it gave me two whole levels to go from 51 to 53, lol. Pretty nice for a once a week quest.

I also got 10k coins in the casino from slots then immediately lost it all on the roulette, I should've stuck with slots, lol. Good thing I only spent like 1600 gold this time. Also Bingo is amsuing.

I've been meaning to try the bingo. We did a story last week on the radio about a woman that was dealing cocaine to pensioners in a bingo hall, hopefully DQX can match that level of illicit excitement!

Oooh interesting. I'll try it out now. I didn't get to play last night so I need to catch up as soon as I get back today, lol.

Shouta

Oh no prob. Aeana doesn't have any monsters so all I have are yours muu's and one other random so my monsters are partying with yours a lot extra, lol.

Also, the first 2.0 quest gave me 200k XP. I might try to use the next set of XP for my Beastmaster to bring it up a bit faster if the pattern holds.

Shouta

On the second to last boss in the 2.0 storyline. I'm digging it. I can't wait to see what 2.1 and 2.2 bring. =o The XP gain on it is sick though. It's been giving me two levels each in my 50s and I've used it to bring my Beastmaster up so I can play it. Works out well because the weekly quests gave me a huge amount as well and if the end of 2.0 gives some XP, it should put me near 60.

I've been doing the farm the last few days too and apparently, you get Fukubiki Tickets each time one of your friends reincarnates their monsters. i got 8 total, 3 from a random JP guy that friended me and 5 from extra. It also seems to give a decent amount of XP too. VERY cool feature.

Damn, 2.0 last boss might be too hard with AI partners. They won't dodge attacks that totally ream folks. I get to stage 2 well enough but it just goes down from there.

Guess I'll power up and work from there for now.

What kind of level are you at now? I've done the first two legs of 2.0's story, just finished
the village with all the kids
. Heading onto the next leg I'm level 55, did you have much trouble with it (up until the final boss that is)?

I'm 58, almost 59 currently. It hasn't been too bad up until now but I've had 70+ AI with me to help. I may get some of the passives I need until I can find some folks to do that fight with to make it easier. Eating the AOE in that fight sucks.

I put my slime knight out on the farm. Now I need to recruit more monsters and put them out. This feature is pretty neat actually.

The fight with the
Genie
was pretty hard for me, or at least it took a long time, this was with LVL 80/70-ish supports.

I'm impressed by the scenarios in the expansion, I feel as if the scenes are better directed than those of 1.0, though that could be my mind playing tricks on me, it's been a while since I did the main story.

That boss fight was more annoying than hard. But I'm a Monk so I'm the damage dealer instead of having to rely on the AI to try and deal real damage. I need more attack power but Max tension with Attack up and Goldfinger is doing pretty solid damage. I even hit a crit with it dealing 1400 damage, lol.

2.0 scenario seems to be about the same as 1.0 in direction. The scenarios are a little more interesting though. That much is for certain.

I also thought that version 2 was even better storywise than 1. I mainly attributed this to the story being more focussed (and faster paced), since you only travel one region this time. Both the head writer and director are different though, in version 1 Jin Fujisawa both directed and wrote, in version 2 the director is Riki Saito and the writer is Atsushi Narita. They all have worked on the series since Dragon Quest 7 I think.

The Seredo boss isn't that hard if you don't use area attacks or
accidentally attack the ally currently made to look like the sheep guy
. The big mormon at the ordeal gate in the tower, before you go to the actual boss was much harder (back before they toned it down).

The version 2.0 boss is actually defeatable with supports only. They even avoid the magic damage floors now (but sometimes run towards the edge because it seems like the shorter way to safety, not realizing that they can't go further). I brought a level 80 warrior, an above level 76 sage and my main as a lance priest ~level 60. Sorina was a level 58 minstrel.

With Sorina I mainly powered up my warrior with baishion, resurrected people and used holy waters to keep their MP up. I even attacked myself once in a while but keeping the higher level supports in action is more important if you aren't at a high level yourself. Having four members who can use resurrection spells definitely helps too.

At the end of the second stage the boss did manage to wipe all of my members except
Ann-Lucia
. He was already orange and it took only a few more hits but
Ann-Lucia
was out of MP and I wasn't sure if it would be enough but
she
healed
herself
one last time, avoided his magic damage floor and dealt the last few hits, with yellow HP
herself
.

That was super awesome because it was so close.

I know muu also beat that boss with supports only (looking at his adventurer diary).

I imported DQX for the 3DS on a whim and now I'm getting an error when I try to play the game.
Could someone translate this for me? Thanks in advance.

Your internet connection speed isn't stable enough to meet the game's requirements.

They ask you to check your net environment and try again later.

I talked to Aeana in game earlier and apparently there really is no IP lock for the 3DS version but in ran pretty badly for her as well.

2.0 boss is beatable w/ supports but it's a PITA. 3 forms, first two aren't too bad, last one there's a special the boss uses that double/triples their attack and defense -- basically instant oneshots and no damage given. Oh, did I mention the AoE spell that the boss casts does 500 damage now if you don't increase magic resistance? The easy counter to this w/ real players should be obvious, with supports you're going to have to boost your own resistance, spam priest skill that leaves players standing w/ 1hp when they get hit w/ a blow that would kill them, and hope the boss doesn't do something stupid twice. Guest NPC that shows up for the fight can get rid of this buff, but only if alive and not trying to res your pt members. Took me a couple tries to beat.

I actually had more trouble w/ the first boss in 2.1, but that's another story...

Thanks for the translation guys.
What a bummer, I have a pretty good connection. (90mbit down/9mbit up).
I put the 3DS in a DMZ as well, but that didn't seem to help.
Guess it's because I'm located in mainland Europe.

Hmm, I'll have to try again with some high level supports. Problem is the only folks that are high level on my list are you two, extra and muu, lol. I have an Entertainer friend that's like level 70 and he's helped out as well.

I could try 58 supports with good passives but dunno if that would help a ton.

I just got the 3DS version, as well, and it runs really poorly for me. But I tried it a couple of hours ago when it was like 11 PM in Japan. I'll be trying again later when there's fewer Japanese players playing, hopefully that'll fix it. Otherwise it was a sad waste of money (not that I didn't anticipate this happening, I figured latency might end up being too much).

At least it doesn't require a VPN so you can use your connection's full strength, although in some people's cases the VPN located in Japan might offer an improvement on speed if the routing is better.

You should join a team. I know mine is always looking for new people, although you may be happier in a JP team.

The third form doesn't last very long though. Important point: never be where your other party members are. So you don't all die at once. Everything beyond that is luck.

I didn't plan to actually take on the boss so my priest wasn't an optimal choice but I still won on the first try (that was with Sorina, my lower leveled sub). Of course when we originally came to this boss with two people and supports we took three tries to make it to the last stage and then wiped instantly because we failed to avoid the very first magic attack.

That was just bad luck but we gave up for that reason. When we came back with four players all high level it was almost too easy. But a great battle regardless.

I actually had more trouble w/ the first boss in 2.1, but that's another story...
The two rabbits? Or the 5 rabbits at the ordeal gate before it (not really a boss, which is why I'm asking)? Ordeal gate definitely was harder than the 2.0 boss (but again, it also has been toned down, lol).

I should join a team but I haven't found one yet other than a bunch of newbie ones, lol.

I may give the 2.0 boss another shot tonight but I could probably use this chance to get some more jobs up for some additional passives. I also need to start focusing on money-making because gear after 60 seems really expensive. =/ I really wish you could do one craft and lamp alchemy so that i could make my own armor and enchant it.

Shouta

So any good strats to make more cash fast? lol

I've been collecting the pricey materials and that's gotten me some good cash. Slowly getting my Armorsmithing up too, just about to hit 30 on it. =o

I really need to get into the crafting. I tried lamp alchemy but think I messed something up because I'm not able to equip any other tools to try a different craft. Is it the case that a craft gets 'locked in' up to a certain level or something?

EDIT: Wouldn't mind making some cash either, I've been using the same armour for a LONG time now.

You can't go beyond level 10 unless you commit to the profession. At which point you cannot change it anymore. Except with a profession change ticket. All players got two of these when cooking was added.

There is no way to make a lot of money fast. If you really want a lot of money getting good at your profession and selling to the bazaar is the only way.

But you can make upwards of 40000 everyday by buying high reward daily hunt quests and fullfilling profession requests by your guild master.
