Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Steam pre-order is LIVE

I guess with the licensing issues, we won't be getting pushed by the wind into the free either.

At least this one should be easy to mod compare to japanese audio. That said I remember playing the game in japanese after playing it in english, and even though I'm generally very much annoyed when dual audio isn't in a game, I didn't find the japanese audio to be particularily superior in this. I think I liked Mercedes in japanese better, but the rest was kinda same-ish, and the game being really not japanese looking(as in it's all western medieval serious looking stuff) made it much less important. So not a big deal.

Like it's not at all the same as when I have to play a Tales in english even though every characters is straight out of an anime.

Ouch

No JP VA (moddable?)
No multiple saves (Sadly most likely not moddable but you can probably back up your saves)
No Berserk armor (perhaps moddable?)

Have we heard anything about the bonuses that you would receive from having a save from DD to DDDA?

Come on CAPCOM don't drop the ball now.

Still getting this
nooooo..... not like this...

Still wish they would have used music from the game instead of "generic epic movie music that has that build up at the end".

I bought this on ps3 and paid for it's DLC so I don't feel bad getting this via GMG.

I have to wait for the game to come out to get my key?

oh fuck damn

megaton

considering that the white hawk armor set was easily one of the better looking ones

It'd likely end up as a better deal sure, but I'm not interested in the soundtrack or digital art book. I'll be getting the game, but now at least I know to not hope for a sale. I'll just wait till it's online in GMG

Wait... what? It was on the PS3 NA versions, and it won't be on PC? Wow that sucks.

wbacon, your post on Steam forums mentions both DInput and XInput devices being natively supported.

Any chance for an option to have Dualshock button prompts?

I think it'll probably be doable for someone to make an "external" save manager that allows you to manage different save account folders outside the game - not ideal, but easier than it was on consoles.

If the saves are stored in your documents folder could you sign into a different user on your PC to generate a new save folder for that user?

Main thing to look forward to is the invevitable texture packs. The game by default has great animations, but it's not a looker by any means.
edit: thanks for the code. Was going to get it anyway in January, but may as well get it for $23.10 now.

It will more than likely be tied to your Steam account, not whatever user logs into Windows. Quite a few Steam games have saves in the Documents folder too.

It wasn't technically that difficult on the consoles either. Just save to USB. The advantage the consoles had too that I doubt you'll be able to get on PC was having multiple accounts with the game since it didn't require XBL gold to use the online component. You could then also trade items between your various pawns on different accounts like this too.

There probably will be a PS4 version because the system architecture is the same and the effort to release it would be very low.

It's up on GMG now, and their 23% off coupon works on it. Deal!

ready to rock

Some of you people are about to experience the greatest action RPG combat EVER.

Pretty much (although I'd say it's one of two of the greatest action RPG franchises for combat anyway). But until a mod comes out for it, you'll also get to experience the most verbal diarrhea in an action RPG EVER.

I just learned about the game not having Berserk armor. What the fuck Capcom

Umm, was that even licensed?

I would've thought it was "different enough so they can't sue us" type of thing. Oh well.

I'm guessing the nun outfit and infinite ferrystone are also gone (these where bonuses for having a vanilla save).

Better fucking not be. That was a huge quality of life improvement over vanilla. Not only for backtracking, but also for cutting in half (at least) the incessant repeating phrases about harpies, wolves and goblins that you already passed a dozen times.

Are you guys getting a Steam key instantly with GMG or do you have to wait?

I'll probably still go with them, but I want that pre-load.

Q) Does the game include fast travel?
A) Yes! The fast travel system has been revamped and became a lot more accessible with the release of Dark Arisen expansion content. Several Port Crystals (these are your jump portals) can be found throughout the adventure and placed anywhere on the world map as you see fit. In addition, price of the Ferrystone are has been reduced significantly from 20,000 to 2,000 gold pieces. Even better, we are now including the unlimited-use Eternal Ferrystone which can be unlocked after completing the quest “Off with its Head.” The item can be found in the Storage which can be accessed from the Gran Soren Union Inn.

I'll probably need some help with this, links to relevant guides, the best beginners tutorials, etc.

I've never played the game, but I'll still set up a solid OT

One of the gameplay options in one of the videos was "Pawn Chatter".

Missing Japanese Voices and no Berserk Armor are only minor let-downs when I look at the whole package I'm getting. Being able to finally play last generation's best open world action RPG at an acceptable performance and image quality with all DLC content is a fucking highlight for me.

I know what I want for Christmas.

Oh, that's awesome. Also kind of strange though since it's essentially automatic anyway and it's not like you would even bother using a ferrystone before that point. Actually, I guess I might have forgotten about how the ferrystones work too. What is the point of the cost reduction if you are automatically going to get the Eternal ferrystone anyway? Was it that you could jump around to any pylon using normal ferrystones, but with the Eternal it was used more of a mark/recall (the pylon you set) function?

I thought the console versions had this already (but it didn't seem to help that much). Unless it was only for your main pawn, when you would sit him down at the Inn. If it's a new option that reduces the chatter, then that's great. But hopefully it's just a reduction and not a simple ON/OFF toggle.

edit: bleh. They took the laziest possible way out. Hopefully someone still makes a mod for this.

Q) While pawns have endearing personality and are great to have them around in my adventures, they’re a bit talkative. Any way to shut them up?
A) PC version adds a new option that completely silences the Pawns. They will only speak when talked to. To enable this feature, simply go to Options -> Gameplay and set “Pawn Chatter” to OFF.

The FAQ answers a lot of questions. The resolution should be ceiling-free (although they only tested it up to 4k), but the frame rate is capped at 150 for physics and rendering reasons -so 144Hz people are okay.

I hope they accidentaly leave the files there, and just lock it. If that happens, modders will save us in no time :C

Sorry about that :( We've done our best to prolong the USD $1 = CAD $1 for as long as possible, but the currency exchange rate has really hurt us in recent months. Same for BRL and RUB.

You're still a loooooot better than the actual exchange rate for BRL, so thank you for that.

if you can already unlock unlimited fast travel and there's a specific item for it, then modders dont have to mess with it. Heck with console commands you could theoretically just make it appear

I don't know if I'd use this from the beginning as I actually do find it endearing when they keep talking haha

I'm so happy that they included DirectInput gamepad support, that is a massive plus for those like me who have a Dualshock 4!

Sucks that the Japanese voices and Berserk armor (which I didn't even know that existed in the original release) aren't coming back, but someone can make a mod one day that will bring them back. I will still buy it regardless.

Anyone know if the physical Game version comes with the same pre-order bonuses as the digital versions? I really don't want to order anything from Game, but I'd like to get a physical version with the pre-order bonuses if possible.

WTF no multiple saves?!

No multiple saves seems like it could be easy to get around with some file swapping. Kind of a hassle if you're flip flopping characters all the time, but doable at least.

If you have a soul you will not look at this option. That pawn chatter is necessary for the authentic DD experience.

That option is really shitty, but I guess it's better than nothing for those who are really sick of it.

I still don't know how you would do this through Steam, especially when you factor in pawns. It was easy enough through different accounts on the consoles. Unless you don't actually care about your pawns.
