Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen Steam pre-order is LIVE

Digital soundtrack? Hmmmm so tempting... that soundtrack is pretty darn good, I even wishlisted the CD on my Christmas list. So I guess I should wait til after Christmas in case I do get it (unlikely but eh). :P

Horseshit. I played through DD twice, and I wanted an option to turn off the pawn chatter almost instantly into my first playthrough. I will turn that shit off and never look back.

Q) While pawns have endearing personality and are great to have them around in my adventures, they’re a bit talkative. Any way to shut them up?
A) PC version adds a new option that completely silences the Pawns. They will only speak when talked to. To enable this feature, simply go to Options -> Gameplay and set “Pawn Chatter” to OFF.

The FAQ answers a lot of questions. The resolution should be ceiling-free (although they only tested it up to 4k), but the frame rate is capped at 150 for physics and rendering reasons -so 144Hz people are okay.

I don't even need to ask this, but I assume this also means no mandatory uncontrollable pauses during gameplay?

Oh my god, yes. I'm going to downsample the fuck out of this.

Vsync - off.

Lag-free 144Hz play, like Capgod intended.

Glad to hear they have made some improvements to the game and catered the port to the PC. I will wait to see how the game is technically upon release but I am mildly excited for this game. :)

Good news, sounds like the port is really good.
Not that I didn't think it would be.

What do you mean? If you meant the "cinematic" pauses, you could turn those off on consoles too.

Could be that, but I experienced an intermittent issue on the PS3 where the game would freeze for a few seconds before a Pawn started yappin. Like it got stuck loading the audio for the dialogue.

Anyone mention that it's also got a release date now? January 15th, if you've not seen yet.

Also, Jesus, minspecs on games have been rapidly encroaching on my FX6300 lately. I think I'll be able to play this one just fine, but it looks like I'm going to need to buy myself a better CPU fan so I can overclock in order to play Dark Souls 3 now.

Q) Does the game support more than one save slot?
A) No. The pawn trading system and interaction with the Rift server was designed around a single save and player profile. While hot-swapping save file outside of the game is technically possible, this will cause synchronization issues with the pawn you have uploaded to the Rift or shared out to friends and other community members
Wait, does this mean i can have only one character per steam account? On PS3 was annoying enough having to have 40 profiles just to have more than one character, it'd be even worse to create several Steam accounts.

I think it means copying/overwriting the save file in your Steam appdata/my docs folder.

If that's the case, it's certainly less than ideal, but still easier/faster than juggling multiple saves on consoles was.

I guess that's one way to juggle multiple characters.
However it's a big enough of a deal, that i'll wait to hear some impressions on how it works exactly, before buying.
I was ready to preorder, but i first want to have a clear idea of how that thing works, because it was annoying enough on console.

Yeah, I'm a bit worried by their disclaimer regarding pawn synchronization. I don't really remember what, if anything, happened on console under those circumstances.

Truth be told, I didn't bother managing multiple saves on PS3 for this game all that much. I think once I maxed out all the vocations, I just started writing down slider settings for my custom characters & would reset them in-game as I saw fit :p

EDIT: My memory's really bad; changing appearance on the fly was a new game+ feature. Still was great having that option.

Well my concern was more because if you're not the only one playing the game in your household, you may want more than one character going simultaneously (or even if you want various characters, i guess... you know in an RPG is not that wild of a thought).
And making various steam accounts and then switching them around, just for ONE game, is annoying.
On PS3 at least it was quick enough to go form one account to the other.

Oh, didn't even consider multiple members of a household. On PS3 I just used extra PSN accounts as savestate mules; no one actually played under said accounts.

When you put it that way, it does sound like it'd be more of a hassle on Steam.

Never experienced anything like this, and I clocked in 200+ hours and beat the game 5+ times. Had the original on disc and Dark Arisen digital.

You can get this for $23.10 on GMG and use discount code (23PERC-WTHGMG-ADVENT).

EDIT: Beaten Badly

You at least included the code, which I used.

Bought. I've never played any of the DD's so I'm looking forward to seeing what the big deal was. I had a PS360 at the time, but I really can't stand underperforming(sub 30fps) games and just skipped it.

I will probably buy this but I don't think I'll actually play it a lot. Envious of people who get to play this for the first time though and that too at a better framerate.

New players should NEVER turn off pawn chatter. If you do, be prepared to be completely fucked over by wolves when they appear in bigger numbers than you expected.

People are going to turn off the pawn voices?

Fucking barbarism.

That's literally what family share is for.

Oh shit, Eternal Ferrystone early game for everyone.

Bless you Capcom. Bleeeesssss yooooouuuuu.

Hopefully Steam Controller support means mouse/gamepad simultaneous input. Revelations 2 certainly didn't let me do that.

Wait, they took away the Berserk inspired armors and things? Aww that sucks, that was one of my favorite things about the game when it came out, I made my character look like Guts.
