Dragon's Dogma Online revealed - PS3/PS4/PC, MMO-ish, F2P, 4-player parties

This looks like an actual attempt at making ANOTHER Monster Hunter game, but this time F2P. Not exactly overjoyed with that, I was really hoping for a Dragon's Dogma 2.
If it comes out here, I'll give it a try. And by if I mean I won't because it won't come out here.
Because I still want PSO2 dammit Sega and I'm hurt

Sega begs to differ.
I think there are a couple of differences between the 2 cases , from the fact that sega did try to bring several titles before stopping or the fact that dragon dogma got a trademark localistion since god know when or the fact that it was even teased on dragon dogma website ( international website ) last year .

BUt yeah i understand your point... Still the situation is a little different.

Ok, i have to get over my disappoitment that it isn't DD2 or an Online mode for the first version in HD.

But Capcom, IF it really plays like the Original Game. the same fantastic combat without any stupid changes than this would be an MMO that i would actually love to play.

So please at least don't fuck this up.
it looks EXACTLY like Dragon's Dogma in the scans I saw. From climbing on big ass monsters, to the magic casting animation, it definitely looks to be the real deal.

Even the map, haha.

Oh lord, just imagine co-op Dragon's Dogma at 60fps, I can't, I can't.

Capcpom pls, don't screw this up, sell a ton of costumes or whatever and I'll buy all of them, but please don't make me pay real money to get a fucking stinger move.

50 bucks to be a catgirl? Fine, I'm in, 5 bucks to have a stinger? NOPE.

What exactly is so bad about Deep Down?

The inverse holds the same, what exactly is so good about Deep Down? Why is it in all this time that it's been announced and has had gameplay shown, not had a significant feature or element to make it stand out? Top that over Capcom's F2P track record and it was always an uphill battle. Now they have another third person, f2p, medival action game with a proven gameplay base and the likely amount of overlap is out of control.

It's the opposite for me, couldn't care less about the bells and whistles.

Just need to know how they will handle the gameplay aspect.

Yeah I'll definitely still enjoy the gameplay as long as it's good. Nothing to lose since it's free to try.

I don't think Sony paid for this. The exclusivity is probably based more on Sony's open approach to MMO games like FFXIV in contrast with MS's more "closed" environment.

If that's the case, I guess cross play could be a thing.

Smh at the "is Deep Down Dragon's Dogma?" crowd. -__-

Sounds ok:ish, I guess? F2p is a bit off-putting, but if there's new content, multiplayer and it plays like the old Dogma, then I'm in.

Nah, no thanks. I used to give the benefit of the doubt to the F2P model, but I've grown to despise it. Even if I *can* technically get through the game without paying money, I dislike the constant pressure to do so and the inevitable design compromises that come with it. Its just so off-putting.

Being MMO-like just seals the deal.

Can't compare them Sega while dumb as shit makes good money. Capcom lost money.

Good points. :p

This or something along the lines(didnt exactly know if it was an MMO or Sequel) was one of the things we saw to be revealed at
PSX
.

Yep, also pressure from the developers side of things. SOE has been guilty of this recently. You just can't trust it when it comes from a publisher, pretty much all the best examples of F2P come from independent studios and Capcom is the farthest thing away from that.

I'm gonna give this a try when it comes out. It's free after all.

If, over the course of playing it I like it I'll spend some money on it, up to $60, considering that's what itd cost if the game was being sold.

Not sure why there is instant hate and lol capcom gifs. The game is FREE. You can try before you spend a single cent. If you end up spending anything less than $60 on the game and play it for a fair amount of time, you've gotten what you paid for, and probably more.

EDIT.

really hoping there is anything Berserk collaboration. Would pay top dollar for black swordsman armor, and the Dragon Slayer. Would also gladly pay for the Berserker Armor.

Hmm, I'm intrigued, as I enjoyed the original (never actually finished it though, other stuff got in the way), but at the same time I think I'd rather have a straight sequel. Add some 4-player co-op to it, and there you go.

EDIT: No western release? Well, guess I don't have to worry about this at all then.

Man, I find it so weird that people are put off about it being MMO-ish. Dragon's Dogma was clearly destined to become this, maybe not in F2P form, but still. They already had us linked to other players through pawns, the next logical step was to link us directly to the other players. I could understand if the first game was completely offline...but it wasn't.

I wonder how far along this is...

I'm going to give it a chance, but I think the problem a lot of people have is that they've given plenty of other f2p models a chance and almost always come away burned or having wasted their time.

Even giving the fact that the west version wasnt still confirmed, it is strange how Capcom is keeping distance from the XB1 since after Dead Rising 3.

I mean, no Deep Down, no Street Fighter 5, and now, apparently no Dragon's Dogma.

What the hell! o_O

I know it has nothing to do with it, but MS should drop the parity clause to call more games to their side.

I'll be following this with great amounts of skepticism. Anytime the phrase "MMO" is involved my head begins to shake and an audible sigh passes through my lips.

Still, you can't really discount something entirely, especially when we don't even have any Gameplay footage.
However, this would be a PERFECT time for a HD Remaster & PC release of Dark Arisen... Get the game in the hands of PC players and people with new consoles, and so people can see how Dragon's Dogma plays and whether they want to jump onto the MMO.
So I'm just fucking praying for that.

(Although if it isn't coming out in the West then my entire last few sentences are redundant. Still, we bloody well need a DD remaster...)

Ok, i just looked at the scans, and yes it absolutely looks like the fist game.
So that makes me really hopeful actually.

So Capcom the most important part DON'T TRY TO FIT THE SAME CLASS SYSTEMS/RESTRICTIONS THAT WE HAVE IN ALL MMO'S INTO GAME!

Don't be so restrictive like all the other MMOs, If i want to play in a Party with 4 Archers or only mages than let me try it!

I don't want to have a healer/Tank classes where the only way to play it on higher levels is to go through your rotations because otherwise everyone will die or be pissed at them.
Of course there are jobs to do with your class, but if the game machanics are great this will sort itself out without such restrictions.

This is what keeps so many players from enjoying MMOs. Just make this a fun game without being to restrictive in what players have to do.
