Dragon's Dogma Online revealed - PS3/PS4/PC, MMO-ish, F2P, 4-player parties

Whta's the problem for them to deserve this?
There's nothing concrete for the west so far.
It's a fucking free to play nightmare. I want a proper sequel without shitty microtransactions and the ability to play the whole game solo or with some comfy couch co-op.

Man, I find it so weird that people are put off about it being MMO-ish. Dragon's Dogma was clearly destined to become this, maybe not in F2P form, but still. They already had us linked to other players through pawns, the next logical step was to link us directly to the other players. I could understand if the first game was completely offline...but it wasn't.

I wonder how far along this is...
The game was still designed to be played by yourself. There's a huge disparity between having some online elements and having a game that is designed around social aspects and grouping together with other real players.

This may be the next logical step, but its a step plenty of us obviously didn't want them to take.

The inverse holds the same, what exactly is so good about Deep Down? Why is it in all this time that it's been announced and has had gameplay shown, not had a significant feature or element to make it stand out? Top that over Capcom's F2P track record and it was always an uphill battle. Now they have another third person, f2p, medival action game with a proven gameplay base and the likely amount of overlap is out of control.
The gameplay of Deep Down is nothing like Dragon's Dogma. There's no overlap there. If the overlap is purely on its themes then that's a pretty lousy argument. Furthermore, while Deep Down has yet to do anything revolutionary, it does enough to pique my interest. Amazing graphics, spell combos, limb specific damage. There also aren't any f2p games that have similar gameplay to Deep Down on the PS4 at the time on announcement, no?

Amazing, first they kill Deep Down with MMO F2P, now same thing with Dragon's Dogma. Only CDProjekt, Bioware and Bethesda are making big AAA rpgs now.

It's the same thing Capcom did when going from Lost Planet to Lost Planet 2. Made me lose all interest.

She was already the producer of Dark Arisen.

Even giving the fact that the west version wasnt still confirmed, it is strange how Capcom is keeping distance from the XB1 since after Dead Rising 3.

I mean, no Deep Down, no Street Fighter 5, and now, apparently no Dragon's Dogma.

What the hell! o_O

I know it has nothing to do with it, but MS should drop the parity clause to call more games to their side.

your correct it's not parity, but it sounds like it might be another bonehead clause stopping the game from getting an XB1 port. it's the same clause that's stopping FFXIV from being ported.

This isn't the preferred outcome for the IP, that we can all agree on, but I'd rather they do something with the IP than nothing at all. I mean, it could be worse. Just look at Mega Man.

I liked pawns, RIP to one of the most unique open world games ever :( zzz another online coop game.

Looking at the tiny blurry scans, I'm not convinced the map is going to be new new yet and more like recycling. will try.

Ps3? Bleargh.

If it's not a full blown MMO and it's in the style of PSO (maybe with an offline mode) i'll remain cautiously optimistic about it.

Guys.
GUYS.

I know you are all excited but I have a very important question that needs answering:

Is the wind pushing you?

Still PS3? That´s indeed worrisome...

And kind of sad, that it´s not a DD2. I would have liked a full-fledged SP with MP elements (perhaps like a GTA V with GTA Online).

Well, I just woke up to this. RIP Dragons Dogma, and fuck Capcom for not listening to the fans. All they had to do was capitalize on what they had with the original game. A sequel would have been godlike, and we get this shit? Piss off Capcom.

I didn't notice it was PS3 until just now... that has me somewhat worried. I'm still looking forward to it. Played way too much of DD on PS3

It's reused ps3 assets. You really think old hardware is going to harm it more than a cancerous business model proven time and time again to be deliberately unfun to bleed cash out of addicted saps?

The mobile F2P market is quite different from other platforms and what this thread is continuing to show me is that people are quite badly informed of this and instead of understand and giving the benefit of the doubt the enthusist gamer finds it easier to say, "No thanks" rather than to be intelligent about the prospect.

I mean it doesn't bother me, I enjoy free to play games and have had a lot of good times with free to play games. I just wish the hardest of the core "gamerzzz" were more intelligent than this but I don't expect it anymore.

Yes, because F2P can be done right if they want to (like Warframe, PSO2), another thing its how Capcom will handle it though.

Now, looking future improvements on PS3 hardware could be more harmful for the game IMO.
