Koei has done the Gundam games 3 times now. It blows my mind that Bandai hasn't asked them to do a Tokusatsu Musou with all the Kamen Riders/Super Sentai. All of my money, if they ever did.

That's a dream game i hope will happen some day.

Tokusatsu games haven't done well traditionally. The recent Climax Heroes series is an exception, but even there it only does "well" because it's a low budget game. The sales aren't really good. Of course, as much as people complain about Musou, a Musou Rider game probably should play better than any other toku game in the recent past.

Sentai and other Toku franchises in general are basically a dead market for games, so they have even lower chances than Rider. Even Toei recognizes that and now is apparently trying to put some older Ishinomori shows under the Rider umbrella for games and modern returns, like Kikaider, who is getting added to Ganbaride and will appear in the Rider 40th anniversary movie.

Any word on a Empires version? I've always preferred it over the normal game.

Same here - knowing Koei it's almost certain that they'll do either an Empires or Xtreme Legends version next year. If they do Empires I hope it's not quite as dumbed down as DW6E was. With no Romance of the Three Kingdom's on modern consoles ideally Koei would just make Empires play like RotTK with DW battles.

Yes please.

I hope you're exclusively referring to Dynasty because Gundam 2 was a huge step forward. Didn't feel like the usual phoning it in from Koei

I am indeed only referring to the Dynasty Warriors games. Haven't played any of the other games outside Dynasty/Samurai.

DW4's soundtrack does kick ass though!

Thanks for the info regarding DW7. I'll probably pick it up when it hits the bargain bin.

Seraphis Cain

bad gameplay lol
I think I'll be canceling my preorder for this. The more I read about it, the more I just can't get behind the "new" direction Koei's taking for DW. Shame, as I was really looking forward to this, but I suppose I can wait until Q3 for DWG3.

And Toei's already shown their willing to work with them with Hokuto Musou so might as well throw in Metal Hero.

Though I'd honestly prefer Capcom to do it. The Basara style would lend itself well

Been playing DW6 empires in anticipation for this. Empires has never really "clicked" with me, but I did the Yellow Turban scenario as SSX and everything just fell into place. I don't mind the limited movesets as much in empires because of the very very different structure. I'm doing a new game as an edit character who looks like aladdin with a rose in his mouth, an afro, and gan ning's moveset. Hoping I can recruit more of my own edit guys later too.

Does conquest mode have edit characters in 7?

I'm thinking about waiting for a price drop on this. I just got Sengoku Basara in the mail so my Dynasty Warriors "fix" may be satisfied for a while. The only problem is that I don't intimately know Feudal Japan's characters as much as I know the ROTK guys. The battles also seem smaller in scale than the Dynasty stuff.

Basara doesn't really have the whole strategy layer to it that the DW games have. It's more of a traverse from one end of the stage to the other kind of progression.

Hopefully I'll be getting this for review, otherwise I'll probably just go out and buy it. Probably gonna play Guan Yu, Xiahou Dun, Xing Cai and whoever I can find in Wu that doesn't suck. PSN ID (EU): MikeProtagonist

After a couple more hours with Sengoku Basara, I see your point. It's starting to feel more like a horrible grindfest. There are a few things that seem better. The production values seem a bit bigger and cleaner than the DW stuff. Outside that, I don't feel the motivation to go and kill every single thing in the stage as time goes on.

Sometime in the future I wish they'd make a Kessen/ROTK/Total War/Dynasty Warriors hybrid thing. I want to build an empire, lead my troops, and fight on the battlefield too!

Have you played Bladestorm? You should.

Anyone else order from Amazon.ca? Their release date said today (22nd), wondering if anyone got a shipping notification.

Nah, that's why I don't like the Empires games. If I want to recruit generals and shuffle stuff around, I'll play RotTK. Dynasty Warriors is for kicking ass.

I'd actually prefer it if it was even more arcadey. Hopefully the removed pre-battle menus achieve just that.

They corrected it/should correct it, the new release date is 3/29.

Who else here has played the game already? After a week of playing here and there I would say this sums up my opinion on the game overall:

As long as you don't have unrealistic expectations of it being some godsend amazing game then will enjoy it a ton. I am going to end up platinuming the game in both its Japanese and English releases so that shows how much I've enjoyed the game as is.

Could it have used more weapons than the 36 it has before the upcoming DLC? Yes.
Could it have used a traditional Free Mode? Sure, more options and ways to play are always good to have.
Could it have done a better job of showcasing the roster in Kingdom Mode? Yup.
Is the game perfect? No.
Is the game extremely entertaining and well worth playing? Absolutely!

I haven't even touched KM yet, playing only CM, and I'm in love with the game. Chronicle Mode is basically like Officer Mode in 6 Empires with all the side missions you could do, in addition to the larger battles and interacting with officers in cities and whatnot. I'll anxiously await more DLC weapon movesets and I'm interested to see what they do for stage DLC, but the core game is already super fun. I love the combat engine and freedom of the weapon system.

I'm enjoying this game as it is now, while also happily looking forward to DW's future. By the time 7 Empires comes out I'm sure they will have a ton more movesets in the game and the new gameplay system along with the Empire's style battles will be TONS of fun imo.

Tell me about the stage design. Is swimming and ladder climbing still in? Some of the stages in 6 were overly confusing and hard to navigate efficiently, has this been resolved?

Yes swimming and ladder climbing are still here. While stage design, I couldn't tell you exactly, but it does seem a lot easier to navigate in comparison to 6.

I liked that about 6 (one of the few things that it did well). It made the stages more interesting when you figured out their layouts over time, the quickest paths to certain places, the best routes to get an ambush etc.

I can't really say much because I never played 6, but the stages seem easy enough for me to navigate without much problem. Overall, there are a total of 37 different maps in Kingdom Mode and 23 of them are carried over, with some tweaks, from DW6 / 6S / 6E. Additionally, there are 6 Maps exclusively used in Chronicle Mode (which are all from DW6, except possibly the Arena).

Related: In the OP of my KoeiWarriors topic I made (which was linked at the bottom of the OP here) there is a ton of info I've written about the game and in that is a Map List of all the maps & their corresponding battles in the story modes if you want to check that out to see which maps from 6 were carried over and whatnot.

Video of Dun using the new weapon that was released as DLC last night. The new weapon looks a lot like Yue Ying's old DW 4-5 weapon, however it's a completely new moveset. It cost 100 Yen and comes with the new weapon class (10 of them like the rest) and a DLC stage to unlock the 7th one of it. No character gets it as a new Ex Weapon.

The moveset looks incredibly fun and it is NOT just porting the old DW5 moveset to 7. However, I WILL miss the old C3 and C6 as I really loved those moves.

Here are some pics of the weapon:

That looks like Orochi's scythe. [edit] Never mind it's not.

Ahahaha can you walk on water with speed shoes up? Or is that just shallow...

Not even EX for Yue Ying? That's a shame.

It's for a good cause tho, people with JP ver. should buy it.

Indeed. I would buy it if had money in my J-PSN account. Hopefully they do similar with the proceeds when they release it for the US-UK versions of the game.

Stupid question: Any difference between the 360 and PS3 version?
Well..

Fist of the North Star on 360 had awful load times and generally looked worse than the PS3 counterpart. Don't know if it's the same engine though. DW7 was also exclusively on PS3 in Japan.

I'd go with the PS3 version if you have the option. Seems the safest.

WHY DO YOU PEOPLE KEEP BUYING THIS?!?@?!

Because they are enjoyable to the people who buy them.

Why do people keep buying first person shooters? Why do people keep buying whatever game you dislike?

Because they're entitled to liking things. What a novel concept. :)

I like the number chasing RPG part of it and I like murdering dudes with ease, makes me feel good. Same reason I play CoD basically. Also I like this era of history.
