No it depends on the hight. Small cliff was doable. But if you jumped down a big one you died. All damage based. So the higher the level the higher cliff you can survive. This one looked survivable in xenoblade terms. If you jump in water you get no damage.

There was fall damage yeah but you could survive falls just depended on how large the drop was or how much hp you had.
