E3 2014 | Nintendo Treehouse Live @ E3 [ it's over :( ]

your argument is that we can't make up our own fucking mind? like we are mindless drones that will eat whatever they say? we are smart enough to know what is going on.

like you said yourself, tune into Giantbomb and see what they think of the games.

No my argument is that I don't want this to be the future of E3. Where to get "hands on impressions" I have to depend upon hands on impressions by people who work for the company doing hardsells about how awesome their games are. It's annoying shit. I can't believe people want that but like I said that's fine if they do. What would really upset me is if this kind of thing replaces the ability to have traditional media coverage, which a lot of people seem like they would be very happy with.

I'm looking forward to the Mario Maker footage. As of right now I'm not really feeling the game, so seeing some pure gameplay might help.

Unless you are bipolar, there is a a lot of middle ground between hating everything and loving everything to death.
Dude, these guys are just excited about the game. They mention and make it obvious they work on the game, but you can tell the excitement is genuine, since, you know, they play it a lot for localization.

Anyway, aren't you the guy that was comparing Xenoblade on Dolphin with HD texture packs and comparing it to a compressed stream of Xenoblade Chronicles X and calling it awful?

Really loving this so far. I thought this was going to be a huge embarrassment but it's really making me feel like I'm at E3.

This thing doesn't run into the Smash tourney, does it? Nintendo, don't make me choose between Smash and Mario Maker :(
I'll choose Smash.

Anyone know where I can see the schedule?

I don't think there is a schedule out side of the ~6-8 hour block of Treehouse they have planned for today, tomorrow and Thursday. The Smash Invitational is in ~48 minutes, and there are a couple roundtables (Smash/3DS game) that have announced times but outside of that it just seems like they announce the next game right before it comes on.

Damn, I've pulled an all-nighter yesterday already because of that damn Sony conference (that didn't have TLG, if I only knew), and now Treehouse keep me glued to the screen. Curse you! It was totally worth it for Xenoblade X, though.

I just friggen love that super jump. Nice combination between fixed base spawn and random environmental spawn. Probably a headache to balance out, though.

Because gaming media is absolute shit. I very much prefer this biased form of showing us the content. At least these presenters actually know the ins and outs of what thy are showing.

They may be shills but the pure positive energy is refreshing amongst all of the jaded to "appear" non-biased gaming journalists.

You should never judge a game based off of someone else's word anyway, so it's nice to have media in which the person playing the damn thing actually looks like they are having a good time for once.

I prefer the Tree house than big media outlets.
Tree house are
1. Not annoying, condescending, overly hyped so that they are unreasonably hyped

2. More knowledgeable about the game mechanics and provide something of an in game tutorial

3. Seem to be real gamers, not people who are trying to get clicks or hits but are trying to show how the game is fun

4. We can discern when things like this are scripted, fake, and come off as overselling like a car salesman slash infomercial speaker presenter

fair enough.

this is a stream for users though. Is the media not allowed to play this stuff on the floor and report on it?

I honestly don't know.

also everything on the treehouse has seemed really genuine to me. Vs. the media right now that is so cynical about EVERYTHING.

Roundtable?

Have they said if they are broadcasting the round tables?

Please don't come in here and act like you're coming to give a "balanced perspective".
There's a clear pattern to your posts.

Fuckin EA. Fuckin No PC again.

All both conferences confirmed for me was that PC is still the place to be. All those multiplatform games will look better on PC and the following "exclusives" for one console or the other are also PC:

Below - Xbox exclusive also on PC
Grim Fandango Remake - PS3 exclusive also on PC
Dead Rising 3 - Xbox exclusive also on PC
No Man's Sky - PS4 also on PC
Project Spark - Xbox Exclusive also on PC
Titanfall - Xbox Exclusive also on PC
Ori & Blind Forrest - Xbox Exclusive also on PC
Magicka 2 - PS4 Exclusive also on PC
Planetside - PS4 Exclusive also on PC
Halo collection - Xbox exclusive and possibly later PC

Aside from Bloodborne, most of the truly exclusive first party stuff isn't anything amazing. But goddamn if I can't wait to see Far Cry 4, Witcher 3 and Dragon Age 3 on my GeForce 780.

It's fucking Star Fox with Wii Waggle but using a 2 pound controller. Ugh. I'll wait until after the Nintendo Direct but my Wii U may be headed for the trade in desk at Gamestop for Steam credit.

PC rules, consoles suck.

WE GET IT.

Look, I like the idea of seeing more hands on coverage. But the idea that the guys providing it should be company shills hard selling the product is the part I don't like. I would much prefer lots of hands on footage from games media people.

And it really is possible that the future of game coverage is locking out the media and every big company just hiring their own fake media people to talk about how awesome their stuff is. I can't believe that is a future some people want.

Using your own eyes shows the value in this approach. Giant Robot looked questionable at best. Splatoon, Toad, X, Hyrule Warriors, and Guard have all looked great. Most of the commentary has been acceptable as well. Locking out gaming journalists wouldn't be good... so it's a good thing they haven't been. But you're being disingenuous to say most of their work isn't as fluffy as a fluff piece can be. Most of it ends up coming off as marketing anyway.

Well I know they said Hyrule Warriors is not on the show floor. I'm assuming everything you see that has a kiosk is obviously playable for the media.
