E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

I expect the opposite, we have three extra conferences this year. It's possible they had to hold their own conference because Sony and Microsoft are focusing on first party.

I was just referring to "big games for Holiday 2015." I'm sure Sony will have plenty of first party games, but most of it will come next year like Uncharted 4, Ratchet, Street Fighter, Horizon, etc. They will probably push third parties for the holidays with all the marketing deals they have:

Battlefront
MGSV
AC Syndicate
Black Ops 3
Mad Max

Microsoft has no choice, but to focus on first party for this year because they don't really have any big third parties marketing deals for the rest of the year other than the EA sports games. I'd be surprised if Sony doesn't utilize the marketing deals they have to their advantage.

Muh E3 Schedule (EDT)

Thursday:

12 PM - Nintendo World Championships

Sunday:

10:30 PM - Watch Bethesda conference

Monday:

10 AM - GAF avoidance begins (spoiler-free thread only)

Wednesday:

10 AM - 3 PM - Summer classes
3:30 PM - Get home, blow off homework until later
4 PM - 9 PM - Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft, Nintendo conferences
9 PM - Finally check GAF for immediate reactions
10 PM - Realize I have homework to do and get started

Thursday:

9 AM - 7 PM - Summer classes, periodically scan GAF reaction threads throughout day
8 PM - Watch Square conference

Friday:

Off day, finish scanning GAF and post own (very late) reactions which will be ignored, wallow in self-pity
Spend rest of time watching live streams of games, barely doing any homework

And that's how I'll spend my E3. Anyone else have special plans, post 'em.

There's s big difference between "Sony has unannounced retail games for Fall" vs "Sony has something big that can make up for UC4"

The latter is close to impossible. The former though, is quite likely, be it Uncharted Collection or whatever.

Only Gran Turismo 7 can make up for Uncharted 4. And that's not happening.

Anyways, it should be pretty clear that Sony doesn't have some massive AAA game they have just sitting around that they're suddenly going to remember to release. And an Uncharted trilogy certainly could not be made in the few months since UC4 was delayed (unless there are no major enhancements made).

Sony will be talking up their indie and AA games.

Here is my thinking going into E3 at this stage.

Nintendo?
lol.

I don't get that, Nintendo have provided some of the best gaming experiences so far, the games have been extremely polished, and there haven't given lots of bullshit with regards to how the games will look.

Compare that to how things are in Sony and Microsoft land with Downgrades galore, and 1000 patches to try and fix games on release....

I guess the lol is accurate though in terms of feelings towards Nintendo. They're just not taken seriously, they're seen as a joke, which I guess comes from the fact their games are colourful and don't all have guns and killing....

My prediction:

No Man's Sky shows up on the screen. We see some footage we haven't seen before and it looks great!

A single light goes on in the center of the stage. What is that? What's going on? Is he...?

Yes. He's wearing a Morpheus headset. No Man's Sky will be one of the first games to support Sony's VR headset.

I can imagine no better way to build hype and show off VR. I doubt this will happen, I think Hello Games said they won't show anything again for a while or something, but that would be awesome.

Surely we will get a No Man's Sky release date at E3. It's about time, they can't keep a captivated audience for much longer. 2016 release date I reckon.

Except Nintendo. 90% of games from the other press conferences will be boring cgi trailers.

I don't think it will happen, but the announcement of a new Pikmin game for the Wii U would be fantastic news. While I had some issues with the difficulty spike near the end of Pikmin 3, the majority of that game was sublime. It seems inevitable that we'll see another instalment sooner than later, but I wonder if we'll have to wait until the next console.

Nintendo is seen as a joke by what I consider to be a significant portion of consumers, but they brought it on themselves. It's not because their games "are colorful and don't have guns and killing." That's a rather poor attempt at ignoring what Nintendo is actually bad at. They're lagging behind the competition in many areas.

Will Sony have a replacement for the holiday season now that Uncharted and Ratchet are delayed?

What will the big show closers be?

Will Microsoft have another 3rd Party AAA moneyhat?

What will Ubisoft's bullshit fake demo be this year?

Other random nonsense.

OK, what's the origin of these question?

I do think that for the average consumer (aside from the fact many don't even know what the hell a wii u is) they get put off by the fact that games "are colorful and don't have guns and killing."

Ask the typical mainstream gamer, you know the type, they go to gamestop/game and buy call of duty and fifa annually and that's all they play, ask them why they won't consider nintendo.

I would bet my life on it that you'll hear "kiddy" "childish" as reasons why.....
