The same reason they signed for Scalebound, I would imagine.
Ha, true but there's difference between dipping your toe in the water and diving in.

Why wouldnt scalebound sell?If it is a good game then why not? It has dragons after all
Well, they needed something to diversify the lineup. That 'shooterbox' mentality has been dogging Xbox for a long time now, even if there are aspects of it that are sort of true. Games like Battlefield, Call of Duty, and Madden sell better on Xbox. I suppose this is an attempt to diversify their portfolio and show hardcore gamers that they care.
It's a new IP, smaller potential user base, and Japan and Xbox are like water and oil. It would have to be a critical darling to sell respectable amounts, but that's not out of the question.

Just needs that little push.
This is really only relevant if you're going out of your way looking for POIs.Really? I mean, I agree about the story. I just don't understand the point about open world design. Every zone I've seen seems to be the same icon hunt that Ubisoft games have. The copy pasted "clear out the enemies to bring life back to the world!" crap got annoying at the 5 hour mark.
I'm not so sure that'll remain true. Didn't Hardline sell better on PS4? Beginning of the reversal if you ask me.
Talking 'bout microsoft, i dont think money is going their way in this deal

Hasn't Platinum said that they have a PS4 project(s?) in the works?
I recall several Japanese developers being interviewed not that long ago regarding PS4 games and Platinum was one of them.
Hi Neogaf![]()
They just want that mind-share and market-share. Help make a case to investors and boss that the mini-division inside the division is still in a salvageable state.
I will CRY laughing if it's somehow DmC2. Both from the joy AND the GAF meltdown.
Platinum's biggest success story is Rising. I'm sure they want another crack at that. Rising is actually the second best selling character action game ever in Japan, only trailing the original DMC.
So guys remember that "omg announcement incoming at 6pm PT" thing that was happening by the twitter dude that wasn't verified, surprise surprise, it didn't happen. According to the guy, there was supposed to be a hype video from Sony teasing stuff for next week, showcasing the games we know of already, but "a single frame" in the video had something that looked like The Last Guardian.
So glad I didn't hype this little development up.
How much did it sell do you know?
Lol. If there is a Last Guardian trailer with a release date GAF will go down hard.
They don't need one. Platinum games are adored by the hardcore audience, but they don't sell. Like, at all. The only decent seller was Metal Gear and that was because of the name behind it.
Vanquish flopped.
Wonderful 101 flopped.
Bayonetta 2 flopped.
You heard it here first, I'm 100% sure Scalebound will flop. Japanese games and Xbox don't mix. Add Platinum to the stew and you've got a bomb on your hands. If Sony wanted a game to woo the hardcore and lose money, then sure, get Kamiya on speed dial. But that's not necessary, because they've already won over all the hardcore gamers. Partnering with studios like Capcom and From make a lot more sense because they have profitable IPs that can sell and build brand awareness.
i think there will be a teaser for the last guardian. People will be disappointed when no new gameplay is shown and the teased release date is December 2017.

The amount of threads spawned by that announcement would be frightening to behold. It might take weeks for GAF to recover if TLG drops
The amount of threads spawned by that announcement would be frightening to behold.
And the amount of hope it would give fans of other "dead" projects ;____;
In Japan? The PS3 version was at 470k at the end of the year in 2013.
Well I mean, technically we already have...
More like they got lucky that MS and Nintendo fucked up so badly in the beginning, PS4 automatically became the go-to platform for casuals that need their yearly AC and CoD fix.
Which is probably why so many people want an exclusive PG game funded by Sony, since from a hardcore gamer's perspective, the PS4 might just be the most underwhelming market leader within this amount of time on the market. The console's arguments seem to both start and then end with Bloodborne, especially in an age in which many hardcore gamers got a PC for multiplats. Yes, these games bomb, but it also wouldn't hurt Sony to improve their exclusive lineup too.
Personally, I don't care where the PG games go, as long as they keep getting miraculously funded (okay, I might not be happy if they'd go mobile).
Well I mean, technically we already have...
Reminds me of how the entire game feels.Lmao is that the actual box art? It looks unfinished.

Nah, I think that's just a promo shot. I'm pretty sure this is the box art;Lmao is that the actual box art? It looks unfinished.
In the US, Hardline sold better opening month on Xbox One.
In the UK, platform split was 46 - 43% in favor of PS4. Considering the hardware lead PS4 has, the attach rate was stronger for Xbox. The old stereotype still rings true :^P

IGN is going to "premiere gameplay" for the Platinum game they are not reveling the game, also they are showing it on Tuesday Nintendo's day after they are done.
Are people still fucking sore about PS4's success?
So you enjoy making terrible predictions?
The person you quoted is correct. I'll go one further and say that the PS4's success revolves around its initial 100 dollar price difference with Xbox One, the horrifying Xbox One reveal/Kinect/DRM/omg I can't buy or sell used games (which done idiots still believe, btw) etc, and Nintendo's lack of third party support. It really had nothing to do with available games or resolution (no matter what some claim, most people don't care).
So it was successful by having the games people wanted to play at a cheaper price + none of of the bullshit it's competitors had.

If we all ignore the dumb posts, they won't multiply as much! Don't feed 'em!Oh boy this thread took a turn for the worst.

So the game hasn't sold any more copies after the first week? Man, I didn't know that.

Well, yes, I believe being the cheaper console with no bullshit DRM policies plus having the most games and the most variety of games is precisely why it's successful and what most gamers probably wanted.
