Length of time they will talk about each of these games if they have marketing deals.

Star Wars: Battlefront - 8 mins
Assassin's Creed Syndicate - 5 mins
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3? - 6 mins
Mad Max - 4 mins
Batman: Arkham Knight - 4 mins
Metal Gear Solid V - 4 mins
Destiny - DB, HOW, Comet, and going forward long-term. - 3 mins

Seeing stuff like this is killing my hype for Sony's conference. It's bad enough that they're going to dedicate a lot of time to familiar third-party franchises, but if the usual suspects turn up and I have to sit through yet another regurgitated gameplay demonstration of Calla Dooty, The Syndicate: 1868 and Destiny: The Expansion Pack then I am going to sob uncontrollably.

Eh I dunno. Sony tend to favor indies and new IP a fair bit too. My guess is you'll see more of that than the usual suspects. Like... Guerrilla Games new IP for example. Hopefully we'll see that there.

have you never watched an E3 conference before?

the above is a guarantee for both the MS and Sony conferences.

3rd party relationships are important, considering there are a bajillion more third party groups then first party. Except in Sony's case, you have a ton of first party studios, indie exclusives and third party exclusives to look forward to.

Sony's E3 could easily consist of.

Rime
WiLD
No Mans Sky
The Tomorrow Children
The Witness
Until Dawn
Ratchet and Clank
Hot Shots Golf
Street Fighter 5
Uncharted 4
God of War 3 Remastered
Alienation
Kings Quest
Let it Die
Planetside 2
Deep Down
Shadow of the Beast
Level 5 JRPG

With possible appearances from
Kingdom Hearts 3
Persona 5
Star Ocean 5
Final Fantasy XV
The Last Guardian

Then 3rd party presentations of

Batman Arkham Knight
Star Wars: Battlefront
Metal Gear Solid 5

Plenty of room for surprises as well with various teams working on projects that are unannounced and just hinted at.

Will be a solid conference no doubt. Seeing more of Rime alone gets me hyped. Let alone the next major presentation of No Mans Sky

I'm not doubting that first-party and actual interesting third-party games (come on Ni no Kuni 2!) will turn up, I'm just worried that their conference will be more slanted toward big franchise partnerships this year. Especially now that it's been determined that the PS4 is the victorious platform this gen that all the bigwig publishers will want to be associated with. I guess success comes at a price.

But hey, it's all just personal preference in the end. There will be a lot more people watching who will be more excited for the next Call of Duty trailer than they will Gravity Rush 2 or something.

I'm not disputing any of that. I'm just saying, it doesn't mean I've got to like it. I think the predictions that some people are throwing around here that Sony are going to lean more heavily on big third-party advertisements hold weight, and I'm not looking forward to that aspect of the show.

I was thinking, some Persona 5 reassurance for the western folk would be nice. A 5 minute gameplay demo, maybe, and a 2015 release date.
On one hand, Atlus USA's website hasn't even been up to date with the recent Persona 5 info.

On the other hand, Sega themselves recently confirmed that Persona 5 is going to launch in 2015 for both Japan and North America so I would think that there should be some new info at E3.

Apart from Rare's game, assuming it's more than Battletoads, that's probably true. Still very interested in seeing some of these games in action, Scalebound in particular.

People seem to forget that Lionhead has been working on a new IP for at least 1,5 years by E3. Rare has a AAA game that's not Battletoads and Twisted Pixel says they have been working on their biggest new IP yet for over two years.

For stuff like Persona, Atlus USA is probably at the mercy of the Atlus Japan.

Square Enix's embargoes are scheduled for the Tuesday of E3. Final Fantasy XV isn't part of the pre-E3 event schedule.

For EA's pre-E3, Battlefront will not be present.

Are Rise of Tomb Raider and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided gonna be present in judge's week?

By pre-e3 do you mean their press conference or judges week? I think the press conferences Monday are still considered pre-e3 right?

'Pre-E3' as in judge's week. I'm guessing EA's just being paranoid, especially when untrusted non-Judges are invited lol. Disney is also pretty nuts when it comes to secrecy and NDAs.

Will have info on more later.

Lionhead is still working on Fable Legends, their next project - whatever it is - probably is in a pre-production state from a very small part of the team, and is very unlikely to be shown. Rare last game is barely a year old, and the studio apparently went through a somehow dramatic change of focus and direction. If they are indeed working on a so called AAA game, it's probably in a very early state.

Twisted Pixel, which I somehow didn't consider as a big studio - it's quite small afaik, somewhere around 20-30 devs - probably has something to announce indeed.

Has to be games that are actually coming out though. None of this announcing games 3 years out to make it look as though they have a loaded line-up business.

I hate that practice and I want Sony and MS to stop. I'm not interested in hearing about games if they're more than 12 months from release. MS have been really bad at it over the last few years, and Sony have too with their digital games like Rime, Helldivers and Wild.

PSX was bad at it, too.

Wattam & What Remains of Edith Finch reveal were practically "here's a teaser,we can't tell you anything about it, see you in 2016, suckers!"

Part of me understands why digital games are a good sacrificial lamb for an early reveal (games media don't pay too much attention to such games), but staph, Sony, staph.

I love how people keep saying we know MS's lineup, as if the only thing they have to show for is XB1. Like they have nothing in the pipelines to headline their Windows 10 gaming initiative or HoloLens.

Only things we really have for "big" Windows 10 news so far is Gigantic and Fable Legends. I'm expecting them to announce a couple more high-profile partnerships to bring games to Windows 10 and XB1 as cross-plat demonstrations.

Wouldn't be surprised if they announce KI and the Gears 1 Remaster were going to be on both platforms.

Eh, delayed games are one thing. It's announcing games they know full well aren't coming (like Phantom Dust) that is irritating.

Games get delayed and cancelled; it happens. But it wouldn't be a problem at all if they didn't announce games 24 months before their release date. Doing it to make conferences look more exciting and packed is a pretty heinous practice.

Persona 5 is going to have new footage released a week after E3 with P4G. So I wonder how much if anything they'll show at E3. Even a date may not be possible since Atlus Japan would probably want to announce a date there before the US got a date. I really think the best we can hope for is another confirmation that it'll be released this year in the US.

So, no first party software and limited third party software. The Game Critics Awards Best of E3 isn't going to mean much.

Well, the judge's week is also for the media to get an early look at a number of the games present and get early preview write ups, etc prepped to go as well. They can still "award" games as they go along the show floor.

At the very minimum, we will know whether the game is coming out in 2015 in North America for sure or not. Regardless of whether Atlus says something about that, or they don't.

People from Microsoft have said that Phantom Dust hasn't been cancelled for what it's worth.

I'd really like to know what happened behind the scenes if Phantom Dust is still a thing. If they actually decided to invest more resources into the game, then I guess those rumors behind the development studio change were wrong. That or they actually found a dev. team willing to suffer more than Darkside Games to put the game out.

If you buy said third parties and you're a beneficiary (whether in principle you object to the practice or not is irrelevant) of third party exclusivity deals including timed DLC etc... on PS4, why not be stoked to watch footage of those franchises? Those franchises more or less drive the industry and make the lionshare of big AAA games that get consumed in the industry. Watching footage of Batman Arkham Knight on Sony's pressers is really something I looked forward to knowing Warner Bros has no press events of themselves.... There is a lot to like.

Also, Sony doesn't stop making games overnight cause of third party deals (other posters alluding to/ concerned about the show is kind of confusing). Their studios continue to get paid to work and make games. Sony has plenty of events in which it participates to show that content - and last year they made a great job of that adding PSX to the mix (can't ask for more as a fan I say - similar to Nintendo with N-Direct). I get why delays can bother people per say (whether in release dates or the showings in pressers), but they are delays - not games getting canceled aka, you'll eventually get what you want.

Well heinous is certainly hyperbole, but it is deceiving to be sure.

No reason to believe that though. I think they are saying they simply due to all the supposed " marketing " deals, which doesnt automatically mean 10 minutes of stage time. So I think that is what some people are referring to. No doubt Star Wars and Metal Gear get stage time though, and why not? HUGE games that will sell a ton of consoles.

But I mean the Sony conferences are 2 hours long where if there is even 10 minutes off non-game stuff people go apeshit. So you got to find the games from somewhere.

So the game must be delayed until 2016 as well.

:(

I think Sony have actually decided to put a bit of money behind this and try to make it a success. No idea why their own studios aren't handling production though.

I hope the game's not delayed, but if it means a shit load of extra polish then it's not necessarily a bad thing.

Not like this is shocking news or anything, but Madden marketing is starting to ramp up, and XB1 is the promoted platform

https://twitter.com/ESPNNFL/status/598555839297953795

Voting is also going on for the cover star, and the pre-order link on the voting page leads to the XB1 Amazon page: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00W435C0Y/?tag=neogaf0e-20

Interesting though in the fact that this comes at a time when there has been a lot of speculation that Microsoft was focusing on Joe Montana football '16 instead of EA's Madden

$500 million goes a long way.

Niche games like Persona never have a lot of presence at events like these. Remember, E3 is just as much of and Sony's investors don't really care about Persona let alone enough to have a gameplay demo
