E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

I wonder if Twisted Pixel will make the new Banjo? I think they get the humour and make great platformers.

Leaves Rare to show something new.

I'm not hyped for this E3 at all. I don't know, I'm just not feeling it. Hopefully my hype grows the closer we get to the actual conferences.

I think I finally perfected the art of not being hyped until its actually close like june 10th or something. Then my suppressed hype will be unleashed.

It looks ACS will be marketed for PS4 this year, I guess we should expect it to be appear in Sony E3 conference.

This confused me. The PS4 version is in the front, but they stated Xbox One first.
I think they don't know who they're marketing with yet.

Actually i think E3 is too soon for us to see new UC 4 Material. They delayed the game for 2016 & i think they want to show us the Game, when its ready (graphically on an almost finished level) to make people go crazy

The way ND builds demos they are already polished and reflective of what that final game will look like. Don't expect it to look nicer than the PSX demo, it was a vertical slice build to completion.

What sort of things do you want to see?
Actually, I think I mostly wanna see new 3DS games announced. I'm currently in a 3DS craze buying games for it left and right.

I also hope for some cool things for PS4, like Horizon and The Last Guardian.

And hopefully Microsoft can convince me to buy a Xbox One but unfortunately there's nothing that peaks my interest so far.

But I don't need a lot of news this year, as I am very content with the games I currently have.

Just for the fun of it, I want new games utilizing New 3DS' power. Like a Twilight Princess 3D or Mario Sunshine 3D / Galaxy 3D.

Oh! And FIFA 16 - that's my main focus at E3!

Nintendo's not my forte but I can see why you wouldn't be too excited there, we're over 4 years from its original release now, I think support for that platform is slowly on decline. I think Sony's going to have some good stuff for folks there.

One thing that makes E3 always a pleasure to watch for me is that I'm always excited to see more stuff from games we already know about. Aside from new game announcements I'm excited for new gameplay showcases for already announced games. Of course new games or "megatons" as they're sometimes called are the most exciting part but trailers etc. for already announced stuff is my bread and butter and the one thing that I can rely on. MGSV is looking ridiculously good so more of that would be great even though I don't need to see anything more for them to sell it to me. Some Uncharted 4 would be great. Really excited to see Deus Ex in action. Need I even mention the Bethesda conference? Became unemployed two days ago which sucks but if I need to find one positive thing in it, it's that I can watch the whole thing with ease without having to go to sleep early :')

I don't get the people who think MS is not gonna bring on a good show. Based on track record it's fair, but anyone who has paid attention to MS's studios knows a lot of stuff is in the works.

Let's get the predictable announced stuff out first:
Halo 5: Guardians (2015)
Forza 6 (2015)
Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015)
Quantum Break (2016)
Scalebound (probably 2016)
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (probably 2015)
Gears of 4 tease

For the people who don't get excited over that:
Rare's new AAA title (Probably Banjo or new IP)
Battletoads (probably smaller title and not to be confused with Rare's AAA title)
Lionhead (working on new unannounced IP)
Twisted Pixel (working on new unannounced IP, their biggest yet)
Decisive Games (reviving old RTS-classic, AoE/AoM/RoN/HW)
Press Play (working on several new IP, smaller titles)

Games I don't think we'll see, but that we might see:
Crackdown
Phantom Dust (lol probably not)
Killer Instinct: Season 3

While I don't think there'll be any more surprises outside of this, there is always the possibility of more second-party announcements. I am confident both Sony and Nintendo will have good to stellar showings, and not all of the above titles will be shown, but I think it is damn good reason to be at least a little optimistic. You know Spencer and Co. are working to make the Xbox a more attractive console, since they know they can't float on just Cod and Halo anymore.

It was meant to be a joke.

Really I think no matter if MS has a marketing deal, the PS4 will be getting top billing. Hell, for the Witcher 3 the only review copies given out were PS4 versions, not Xbox.

I think it matters in the topic of this thread. We already know Sony conference is heavy with 3rd party multipats, adding another one dampen my hype even more :/, and I'm sure many feel the same way.

Anything with feathers?

I always approach E3 as wanting to see a very select few number of things to be satisfied. The rest is spectacle and silliness that I just like to watch, and sometimes there are fun surprises to be had.

This time, I really just want to see three things happen. For the rest, it can all be Ubisoft playing laser tag in the crowd and constant game crashes, and I'd be set.

How come Sony still hasn't announced their E3 conference times and sent out invitations?

The hype train is fuelled and ready to depart.

Human Head's announcement makes the Square Enix conference a lot more sense to me now. I suspect they intend to give Shinra launch details and games in addition to the other software they have.

I think we'll be seeing confirmations for all that over the course of the next week or so.

Nintendo's confirming their times and such tomorrow morning.

I meant platform holders, sorry.

They'll probably be in the same slots as previous years but I'd wish Sony did theirs a little earlier. :(

Microsoft's is pretty much perfect for us Europeans.

Ah, gotcha.

It's worse for you than it is for me due to time zones, but I like Sony's time slot, since I think it has given them more freedom for how they structure their conference. Guess that's not always a good thing, though, heh. That and their late starts are like hallmarks.

I haven't quite got what Shinra is supposed to be/do.

So they've got 3 independent studios partnered with Shinra for cloud tech (???)
Three games to talk about that will be SE published then basically?

Rumors of marketing deals and not much word on new games has dampened the hype a bit, but I think it will result in a surprisingly good E3.

Maybe Playstation really got the marketing deal with Assassin's Creed this year.

Same for Battlefront when announced and we know who got the marketing deal.

EDIT: And I'm still not that hyped for E3. :(

Jesus, Sony is really killing it on third parties - marketing deals this year alone:

Star Wars: Battlefront
Assassin's Creed Syndicate
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3?
Mad Max
Batman: Arkham Knight
Metal Gear Solid V
Destiny - DB, HOW, Comet, and going forward long-term.

Yes, yes they are and it's not even E3 yet.

I hope this strategy doesn't pay off more than MS's rumored 1st party focus. If so it's going to feel like they switched places. :(

Of course it will. We just had lists today discussing the major sellers of last year and the last decade and its mostly third parties. They aren't firing their first parties, but those are side notes in sales and maybe even a small part at E3 due to major business deals that do indeed pay off.

The trailer on the PlayStation youtube channel also has PlayStation idents at the beginning and end which only happens when Sony has co marketing. Battlefront, Batman, Elder Scrolls Online)

Super weird if MS only got it for 1 year. That AC:U + AC4 Xbox One bundle apparently did really well for MS. Surprised that deal didnt last longer.

I dont want another AC demo during the Sony show though. Its been nice not having it.

I am not too concerned about the third party stuff. Sony have 4 conferences this year to spread the first party games around. (E3, Gamescom/Paris, TGS and PSX) compared to the 2 Microsoft do(E3 and Gamescom).

I do wish for the first party games to have a highlighted presence. Sony also mentioned recent on a focus on hardware and first party games so they haven't swapped places with Microsoft entirely.

People do realize that a massive factor in Microsoft renewing 1st party focus is the fact that third parties are, for the majority, flocking towards the market leader which is Sony & PS4 with marketing deals, early DLC etc, so what else can Microsoft do?

Sony has a sprawling 1st party network of studios, and now, combined with the lions share of third parties behind it, has one hell of a 2 punch combo.

Its not like PS 1st party is just going to be sitting on its backside because playstation secured some 3rd party marketing deals.

PS has 4 conferences this year.

E3,PGW,Pre-TGS,PSX

Spreading out announcements, reveals and updates between them is what i assume is what is going to happen.

I see the focus being like

E3 - 3rd party with some first party plus the indie montage.

PGW - indie and smaller tilles being the focus with probably showcasing a new game from 1 first party studio.

Pre-TGS - Jap 3rd party focus with collaborations and whatever studio japan is doing.

PSX - 1st party focus with a slew of smaller titles, indies and the odd 3rd party developer.

Thats how i think it should be laid out.

Hopefully, not a lot of time is used on these for E3. We already got gameplay reveals for everything except Battlefront and whatever else gets reveal by the 3rd party studios.Obviously Destiny will get it's shout, unfortunately. MGSV will probably get another long trailer (sadly not edited by Kojima). Arkham Knight will have a quick one to raise the hype as well as for Mad Max. Syndicate will probably reveal the female (sister) switching mechanic.

This crazy amount of 3rd party games kinda makes me think Sony might not have a killer 1st party title. Though I would be fine with just R&C and Until Dawn.

They probably have an unannounced title for Holiday 15, but their killer title was Uncharted 4, and that's early 2016 now.

But I can live with that, because, if Naughty Dog needs more time, they'll get more time.
