Whoah. Be careful there. If you aren't happy needlessly paying 25% extra for popular titles, apparently you aren't allowed to complain here.

It's not even popular titles in plural. It's just this one title. Nintendo has no clue how to do tier pricing on Virtual Console except apparently now they know that if there's demand for a game on Miiverse you can feel free to add few euros or dollars to the price.

I am honestly surprised at how many people are bitching about a $10 price tag. People have been asking for this game on VC for ages, they finally give it to you, and they charge just a little bit more?

Cry more, people. There are games I've been waiting for a long time to come to VC that never did.

When the competition offers better DRM and pricing for older titles it's hard for me to buy Nintendo games digitally.

Don't understand this argument. The cartridge form of the game is $100< up, and with good reason. It's old as shit and was limited in the first place. This on the other hand is a ROM which they have a limitless amount of. So yea, I'm bitching about the $10 price point.
This place has unlimited quantities of games too. Should they be damn near free also?

http://store.steampowered.com

Also, that store on your PS3 or Xbox 360... those are all unlimited availability too. Should that stuff be a couple bucks also?

Stupid people are stupid. Confirmed.

YESSSS!!!! Bought IMMEDIATELY after work tonight. I have been dying to replay this game for years. I don't even care how much it is I would have paid $20 easily so $10 is fine with me!

Why the hell is this ten bucks? I guess Nintendo should release Super Mario Bros. 3 for $9.99 too because it's HURR DURR still cheaper than buying the cart.

I'd probably buy it for $49.99.

Nintendo has had a rabid vocal fanbase begging for this release for years, of course they're going to squeeze money out of them. They've done higher prices for certain games already, Sin and Punishment costs more than every other N64 game on the VC.

I love how everyone's assuming the extra $2 is because Nintendo are greedy. Given how many problems EarthBound has had historically, with licensing and stuff, nobody here knows what Nintendo paid to get over those issues. If there was extra cost to them, there will no doubt be extra cost to us.

Quick, flood the market and try to recoup any resale value before the price tanks!

Bought mine for 250 in near mint 3 years ago. They sell for 450 right now. Earthbound is not even a rare game, its just that its too in demand. With the VC, the price might go back down to 200$ which for a boxed with manual copy is okay in my opinion.

:o The Scratch-and-Sniff cards don't work! Game is gimped!

Guys help me out, what OT title should I go with? D:
EarthBound VC |OT| Real Super Ultra Mambo-Tango-Foxtrot Martial Arts Action
EarthBound VC |OT| Play this game in case of Emergency Homesickness
EarthBound VC |OT| This Game Stinks
EarthBound VC |OT| Pray Pray Pray Pray Pray Pray Pray
EarthBound VC |OT| Sell Mushrooms and eat from a Garbage Can
EarthBound VC |OT| Ness from Smash Bros. finally gets his own game!

Except they have previously said that there never was issues. They're just bunch of incompetent assholes.

I can't believe it! I just downloaded it. U.S.

They often are.

Nice.
Sometimes you just have to tell it like it is. If you are really so fed up at the price of a valuable download, you can hit eBay or Amazon for a cart. Or go scouring yard sales hoping someone doesn't know the value of the game. That's your choice now. Take it or leave it.

You and Sendou need to back the fuck up and stop ruining this thread and the others that follow I know you're itching to fuck up, too.

Steam games are often free or over 50% off retail value. I mean, they have full retail games from last year for sub $5 already.

Both PSN and XBL have deep sales too from time to time. I bought some titles for as little as $2 earlier this year.

This.

Boy it pissed me off.

"We've shunned Earthbound and Earthbound fans not because of licensing issues, but because Fuck You. That's why."

And none of them were as good as Earthbound.

Sale pricing happens on the Virtual Console too. What's the day to day value of the games on Steam, typically? It is most definitely not free.

I own 179 Steam games. I got maybe two of them for free.

Consumers have the right to complain. By letting companies know what they want they can cause change which could result in lower prices or more titles being released.

Well Earthbound VC is currently at least 90% off the current market price elsewhere.

Yes! Finally this is releasing on VC! I can't wait to download it later today. Awesome that they have the guide available too.
